The world has a lot of artists, and even before AI the vast majority of them have been making diddly squat. It’s incredibly hard to make money off of commissions as an artist, and it’s gotten far more difficult with the advent of gen-AI. Not to mention that the global cost of living has increased drastically during this same period.

What really sucks? We have so many really impressive artists. I’ve seen so many masterpieces lately, far more than I’ve ever seen before. We should be rewarding these artists who have undoubtedly poured so much time into their work. Especially during this time.

If we continue to reinforce the idea of using gen-AI in favour of real artists, our whole digital space will consist of nothing but gen-AI media. All the while, artists will receive literally nothing for their work, and be forced to pursue it as no more than a hobby.
