So I just set like 80% of my spring fielders to do a four hour job, came back like 2 hours later and a bunch of random characters weren’t assigned anything. I assign them, close the app and reopen it— again, a random selection of characters aren’t doing their task.
Which would be fine— if I didn’t have almost 300 characters, in a town so big that my game runs so slowly every time I interact with something.

And regarding the slowness, do you have a lot of active quests and/or alot of exlamation marks in your town?

low performance may also affect saving.
not a bug, gain performance
if you want to be sure it saved, force it, by going to the friends menu and back to springfield, before you exit the game

It was def more then 90 seconds cuz I was assigning them one at a time— so it took like 30 minutes. As for the slowness I have nothing to collect (except some fast buildings cash) and only 32 quests.
I always found even before the game shut down that I was progressively getting slower just from overloading the world with items and characters.
The slowness doesn’t bother me too too much but the reassigning is just weird and annoying
