my next venture: a paintbrush of some sort that you'd be able to assign a type of block from your inventory, then you;'d be able to right click on blocks to replace them with the block you selected from your inventory
of course, the block would be removed from your inventory, and I think the replaced block should just be deleted, that's probably the best way to balance it out
i think what could be more interesting if doable is limiting it to like only plastic blocks and other varied blocks like that because you kinda mine stuff so fast in the game this kinda feels a bit redundant to me other than range for the paintbrush

Honestly I've had so many times where things feel like they take forever to mine
Probably because my entire qualia is made of ambiguous blocks
(I used my abiguous bombs to replace a lot of water)

Maybe I'll only make it so blocks like essence or ambiguous blocks can be replaced using the paintbrush -- that was my original plan, but I just thought it might;'ve been annoying if someone painted their whole qualia one way and then decided
"fuck I want it to be something else"
but anyways, if someone feels that way, they could probably just go over their creations with ambiguous bombs and then paint over the ambiguous blocks again -- I could even add some sort of ambiguous wand or eraser that would instantly convert any block into ambiguous blocks (or even just the blank essence block) in the same way as the paint brush
I'l probably go with the eraser that turns any block into the blank essence block, which can then be painted over (any essence or ambiguous blocks could be painted over)

it looks pretty sinister -- you get it by feeding a charged neburaffe delicious multitool
design is up for suggestion though, I honestly just couldn't think of a better look for it lmao
I could change it to look like a gigantic galactic mallet of some sort
after all, in minecraft mods these are usually called mining hammers
it's still not perfect yet, but finally, there is a method of apor creation
you get an imprismed apor by right clicking on a free apor with a prism
then you feed the prism tesseracts (the interaction box is a little messed up right now) until it grows into a full apor
the animation slightly jitters a bit when the apor grows to full size, which I'd like to fix
I'd also like to give it a cooler texture
the tesseract just uses the memory icon for now, which I will change soon
How would you go around the issue of someone growing the triangle on a 1 block space

I wanted to add that paintbrush feature I mentioned earlier, but honestly, it might take a long time (It might be a feature I add later down the line) and I'm tired of my qualia being made of ambiguous blocks
I wanted to add a kind of grass bomb
maybe I'd call it a lawn bomb
it would not replace water unlike the ambiguous bomb -- I was hoping to make it so this lawn bomb would grow plants on it similar to how bonemeal works, but it would also replace the blocks in radius with grass grass
or if I really wanted to go for the artificial feel, I could always add astroturf
astroturf is that fake grass in indoor fields and shit
but I think grass grass would probably work just as well
The ambiguous bomb also isn't really tied to an entity
Maybe at some point I should consider splitting the bomb ideas I have into a separate bomb mod

a ragdoll entity that's a worm on a string, that's crazy
but people didn't seem to be as hyped about them and also they kept like colliding with themselves and doing really buggy crap like deciding "YEah Im gonna go through this wall"
stumbleweeds are so freaky, I didn't realize they were fast enough and mobile enough to be able to crawl across gaps like this
it feels like they were literally made for this biome but I didn't even consider it, I thought they'd have trouble

They have trouble with navigation sometimes due to their large turning radius, but if they’re going at you in a straight line, they can accelerate to speeds faster than any other entity
and they hit pretty hard too

with their addition, I would add pins that you'd put on the wall or floor or wherever, and you'd be able to attach items to them (like the display cube without rotation, like an invisible item frame)
I'd also want bowling pins as a fun physics decoration
I'm sort of imagining pins being able to somehow pin physics decorations in place too, so you could have a rigid bowling pin if you want
other ideas for physics decorations would be inanimate smaller fruits and different kinds of balls

I've been starting to realize that I haven't been focusing my entities around specific kinds of biomes enough, Ive just been adding many willy nilly
early on it was because I didnt know what many of the biomes even looked like, but now that I'm playing the game more, I'm seeing where expansion could be made
like an entity for rust biomes, an entity for zany biomes (pinheads), that kind of thing
honses should drop glue when they die, just throwing that out there

I haven’t been able to work on it much this weekend
The apor’s teleportation is currently severely bugged
But I’ve written down many, many bugs to be patched for all the critters
My next order of business after I figure out the apor (most important in my opinion) will be to finish the deer and notdeer, or at least get them to a state where I’m happy with them
The deer’s mostly all set, but I want to add the notdeer moving when you aren’t looking and whatever attack it should have
Since its face will be a giant car highbeam, I want its attack to somehow correlate with that
Like maybe it would flash very bright at your face, blinding you temporarily and allowing it to ram into you while you’re stunned
Just don’t know how you’d be able to avoid that, unless I made it so the notdeer turns its body pretty slowly so you can get out of the light’s ray

FINALLY got apor teleportation consistent
Should I make it so the apor has no collision? I wasn’t sure at first, but now that I’ve been playing with them more, it can be pretty annoying to teleport and get pushed into a wall or the apor itself
Or I could just make the collision box itself smaller
Also any ideas for how the player’s screen should change when an apor is used to teleport? Currently it just uses the average portal block transition (where the world slowly turns black around you) but this has raised some issues

sometimes they burst into song, playing their random notes in sequence and bubblebears around them detect when this is happening and join in, deciding to play regularly, bass or treble

they also don't sync super well, it seems like certain bubblebears end later when playing their instruments
I’d like to make it so the songs have multiple measures, so the same sequence of notes would repeat but with variation, and different bubblebears can choose to join in at different points in the measures
I’ve already added a trombone instrument as well

they don;'t play too well with bubblebears with ducks, and their pitch is all SORTS of fucked up, but every now and then the kazoo bubblebears surprise me
usually they just play awful noise for expended periods of time

I added a fuckton of shit to this mod and it feels so familiar yet I keep finding myself treating it like lucidblocks
certain ideas I've had from this mod are ones that I have reused for lucidblocks shit
like geckos drop scales which could be used to heal durability (reused for dogma)
glowsticks (those glowing rods) were something I was thinking of adding to lucidblocks, but I feel like in this game it would be a lot more like just a physics object that you'd throw and it would roll around
zibby was based off the crickets in this mod, they are identical in behavior, and you could crush crickets with your foot by standing on them
I was thinking of making zibbies much smaller, but I also was thinking of replacing zibby entirely
with a much sillier mob idea
but also I do love zibbies I just haven't had any ideas for them because they're meant to be ambient mobs
in that case maybe they're all set as is
honestly I do really want glowsticks
maybe zibbies would drop glowsticks as an early game light source

I planned to make a system where there would be 8 hostile mobs that could spawn depending on the season rather than just the base 4
so zombies, skeletons, creepers, spiders, vampires, goblins, spirits (placeholder name) and witches (my version) would be the 8 core mobs, they could spawn during any season but would just be much less common during some seasons or much more abundant
(creepers would spawn most during spring, vampires and spirits would spawn most during winter, I think that around the time of halloween in minecraft time, there should be some orange moon that would allow every single kind of mob to spawn at equal rates for that night
because fall is the month that I feel warrants having the blood moon for like a night
That's definitely an idea i like, The season system feels like such a weirdly ignored thing when it comes to BTA mods, and i really feel like having hostiles being more common/less common seasonal is an interesting way to mix things up. (right up there with having cave exclusive mobs which i guess DEEP was doing.)
yess that's another reason why developing funny fauna was so fun, there's SO MUCH to expand off when it comes to seasonal mobs
like birds in my mod and many other mobs didnt spawn during winter
I planned for ravens to replace birds during late fall and all of winter
I had so many ideas for ravens, it was so fun to translate the behavior of real life creatures to features in minecraft for some reason

I noticed the bubblebear plays the kazoo backwards
which I think is kind of funny
this has given me the idea to add even more accessory-like items
a large part of me genuinely wants to add cigarettes that you could give to bubblebears
and when the cigarette burns out, the bubblebear gets very annoyed
I know that I probably won't add cigarettes but I have the urge to LMAO
I'd think that for the player, using a cigarette would kind of act like the hand wand
it would give you temporary stat buffs of some kind while weakening others
then once the effect runs out (the effect would be very short) the game would be slightly slowed down for a period of time
the time slowing would be worse depending on how often you use them, and the stat buffs would lessen while the stat weaknesses would just get worse
I think it would be a pretty weird feature that fits for some odd reason, but it might just be too damn real

What happens is I add things and then add more things to connect those things to the base game with more features so that they don’t feel out of place
I will say, I should’ve held off on adding a lot of mobs before I had definitive plans for them, like doodles and zibbies
and in the videos I’ve sent there have been way too many mems spawning everywhere
but I will never apologize for adding instruments for little to no reason other than I want it, they have been my favorite feature so far and I plan to connect them to other critters more
And I feel like the average lucidblocks experience can feel a bit empty, since the game’s still in its infancy, so I don’t mind adding a fuckton of features
One could argue that the game is meant to feel empty

been getting kind of crazy hearing them go all the time
yeah I wouldn't recommend large groups of bubblebears with instruments unless you put it in an area that you aren't planning to visit super often
just because it can get really, really annoying sometimes
well when it's just one of them, they make an idle sound, and they have a small chance of starting a song
the chances stack when there's multiple around
maybe I should make it so the chance doesn't stack, so you can have many around and it would still be a pretty rare event
but I did have an interesting idea
what if playing instruments near bubblebears makes them look toward you every now and then and make their way toward you, enjoying the music
(what they're actually saying is give me the instrument I wanna try)
they don't drop the instrument unless hit which makes it funnier, they really wanna keep playing it
maybe I'll make it so right clicking on them takes the instrument from them though, that just feels more natural

I had this idea where if you’re playing an instrument near bubblebears with instruments, they would try to figure out the general chords of the notes you’re playing and play notes that try to mimic what you’re doing, but I have no idea how th fuck I’d do that

FOr some reason when I think about the fruits my first thought is "FUCK I forgot fruit girl existed now there's two different styles of fruit in the game"
they do have completely different function and aesthetic from one another despite both being fruits
the only reason the fruits are fruits is because I added the citrus and felt it was out of place, so I just added more fruits alongside it so that it doesn't feel lonely
there is the potential to rebrand the fruits instead as piñatas, but if I just gave fruits a piñata aesthetic and kept everything else the same, I feel like fruit shaped piñatas aren't very iconic (as in, if I wanted to add piñatas they would probably be the classic animal shaped ones, but at that point, I'd have to replace everything about them)
I realized how fundamentally flawed the fruits are, and I'm heavily considering completely reworking them entirely into a different entity that would grow as a crop instead of on trees

the trees weren't very hard to make

But anyway, I already planned for gnomes that would somehow have some crop farming behavior and would spawn at at these garden structures

I don't know what their status effects would be yet, but at least one of the mushrooms will apply heavy geometric patterns to the world

I have some very specific ideas for how they would all hop around
thin-stemmed plants and fungi would sort of wiggle and wobble while staying upright
in nature there's a TON of variations on the classic fungus with the umbrella top, it's hard for me to decide whether I should add more than one umbrella fungi (like a skinny one and a thicker one -- the skinny one would be able to fly using its umbrella head), at the same time there ARE other variations of fungi in nature
as shown by the trumpet fungus on the bottom and the jack in the box fungus on the side there

I haven’t had access to my pc this weekend (and I won’t have access for most of today) but I plan to conceptualize today with the time I have
maybe I’ll lay out every part of the mod and various parts of the game of lucidblocks itself to see if there’s any new connections I can make
I wanna see if there are ways I can make th entities and features feel more integrated with the base game or if there’s any way that I can simplify things

There are certain systems I’ve set up for this mod that idk how anyone would figure out unless they read this thread, like the convoluted apor system (right click on free apor with prism, take imprismed apor and place it down, then feed that imprismed apor 5 tesseracts to make it grow, then feed it a rejuvenation anchor to make it spit out a hyperlink, repeat the steps to make another apor and feed that hyperlink to it for teleportation)
Not to mention, there’s no way to transport the apors that have been fully grown yet
Obviously I want apors to be difficult to acquire, since teleportation is a powerful feature
But at the same time… this could’ve just been a block instead of an entity
It pains me to say that because I love my apors, but realistically lucy would’ve probably just made them a block without all the extra steps
The only reason they’re entities to begin with is because it was primarily a vermin mod to begin with
also more apor customization would be great
okay side idea, I had the idea for some kind of cauldron that you’d be able to mix your fungus in to make special potions and whatnot
but it would be really cool if you could make the cauldron turn a specific color and then put blocks in there to turn them to that color (by that I mean colorable blocks, like plastic)
I’ve always wanted to add simple conversions like that to lucidblocks to add just a little more control when it comes to crafting

So I try to keep my models pixel consistent with the blocky models in lucidblocks... but I'm unsure if the higher poly count fits with other models in the game
The reason I've been modeling them this way because it's the way I modeled the citrus and other fruits to be higher poly because intiially they were supposed to be realistic plastic fruits
but even then they weren't realistic, they were pixelated
I guess I'm wondering if you guys have any opinions on the models and if I should change anything about their poly count or textures (this mushroom has a placeholder texture for the most part, but I was originally planning to keep their eyes this way -- I'm just not so sure it fits now)
like realistically I could make the glaggle flower blocky and give it a flat texture for the petals instead of full meshes
and I could probably find a better way to lower the poly count of the fungus
it's just hard to make a blocky fungus that looks good sometimes

I think the texture resolutions and model shapes are pretty flexible, I mean the alach is high res

Although squirmles are currently scrapped just because of the amount of issues that resulted from trying to add a ragdoll-like entity, and the fruits have been scrapped in favor of the current living crops (fungeye and funflower)
still I would love to give them another try at some point because they're one of my favorite ideas, but it's also just difficult to find a place where more wacky entities like doodles and squirmles fit
the obvious would be to put them in wiggler biomes with the other worms, but they are just so visually distinct from the others that I'm just not sure (If I was to go back to adding them, I'd give them a realistic fur texture instead of sticking to the pixel style)
it's the same reason I decided to replace the fruits with the fungeye and funflower, fruit femme is a fruit vermin that is already in the game that sets the base standard for other fruits in the game

there are some atm but basically just a few more to expand that and make them generate underground
I'd want there to be a rarer hateful ore or something that does not get destroyed by explosions like the hate wand, so you;d mine it by making giant holes with the hate wand
perhaps different biomes could have different rates of ore distribution to encourage the exploration of other biomes

I guess I get most fulfillment from adding new things that I feel help the gameplay, but it’s so hard to think of ways to do that while keeping it balanced with everything else sometimes
My favorite thing to work on recently were the instruments, it’s hard to stay captivated with the fungus and flower sometimes, but that’s probably just because I haven’t added gnomes or the garden structures yet
It’s harder to play the game sometimes when I have these looming issues like “damn the moon straight up dorsnt work” and “why did the apor soft lock my game” and “why is the preta texture messed up for no reason I didn’t even touch that”

it sounds stupid but I've wanted to add some kind of doggle communication system
I've already edited their models for it - doggles will have mouths that open and close like muppets when they bark
my original idea was that that they'd socialize with other doggles somehow, like they'd sometimes turn towards one another and bark, kind of like villagers from minecraft, and they would make decisions depending on this
like they might converse and both decide to split into dogglets or they might converse and decide that they don't like that particular doggle very much and will stay away from them
but this is a system too complex for doggles for what they actually do
I'll probably reuse this idea for a more dynamic quest-giving entity or something
Let me know if you guys have any ideas for dogma (the item farmed from doggles that heals items with durability), nebulation item conversion ideas (feed neburaffe x, get y back), and whatever else

Added a new effect when doggles are killed
gonna make it so they stop running/roll slower when they get killed so the effect is more noticeable
I also want to make it so dogglets/doggle balls collide with each other but not the player so you can have a doggle ballpit
you remember that doggles should sneez?
You might wanna check if your mod is compatible with the latest version cause I'm pretty sure it messes up a handful of mods

how rare should it be for dogglets to merge?
I really want doggles to be fun farmable entities, and currently I enjoy them but they are quite basic
not to mention they're frigging viruses, if you don't contain them they WILL jump out and cause havoc
it shouldn't be rare, but also not too often
I'm thinking maybe there could be things the player could do to make the dogglets more likely to merge
