I think you should add a way for hiders to see other hiders. Maybe a glow. Also, when you disguise, I feel like you should become the item. Instead of changing into the item and leaving it there, I feel you should remove the item and become it, so there's no trace. Ofc u should still be able to spawn them

Was thinking that - But didn't want cheats to call people out easily if they wanted to. Also, this gamemode unlocks maps max valuables and disabled enemies as well. So taking a valuable away won't really matter. The map is scattered with them.

My reason for thinking u should swap with the item is that if you put down an item you haven't found on the map yet, then it will be pretty high chance they could figure out which item you are and then they have a much smaller range for searching

Upcoming Prop Hunt Beta [MOD] FAQ

PROP HUNT (BETA) - How it works and tech notes

Hide as the map’s junk, hunt the fakes, repeat. This update covers how to play and what the code is doing.

Quick start

• Roles: one Hunter, the rest are Hiders.
• Hiders: aim at a Valuable and press V to disguise. Press V again to clear.
• Camera: press C to toggle first person or third person. Local only, does not break disguise.
• Hunter: Right Mouse (RMB) to scan a disguised hider with line of sight. A miss costs you 10 HP.
• Flashlight note: when a disguised Hider moves, a small light can appear on their own screen so they can see in the dark. This glow is local only. The Hunter cannot see it.

Round flow

1. Pre-hide (about 30s)

   • Hiders pick a prop.
   • Hunter is movement-locked.
   • Host quietly tops up everyone’s health.

2. Live round (about 5:00)

   • Hunter scans with RMB. Only works while the round is live.
   • Missing reduces Hunter HP by 10.

3. Win conditions

   • All Hiders eliminated -> Hunter wins.
   • Hunter eliminated or time expires -> Hiders win.

4. Next round

   • Short banner, reload/generate level scene, rotate the Hunter.

Content and maps

• Hiders can turn into any Valuable, vanilla or modded.
• Works on vanilla maps and modded maps.
• Enemy spawns are blocked during Prop Hunt.
• Levels are configured to spawn the maximum number of Valuables for lots of disguise options.

Tech notes (from the current code)

• Roles and state via Photon room properties

• PH_Active, PH_Hunter (actor number), PH_PropVID per player.

• Master selects a Hunter and rotates them each round.

• Safe pre-hide arming

  • We wait for Main gameplay and spawned avatars before arming pre-hide.

• The round timer arms only after pre-hide ends.

• Hunter lock

  • During pre-hide the Hunter’s input and speed are clamped for the lock duration.

Disguise system

• On V we cache the PhotonViewID of the Valuable you are aiming at and sync it.
• Each client locally clones the prop’s renderers onto the Hider and shrinks the avatar rig to a tiny scale so only the prop shows.
• No colliders or rigidbodies are cloned. RPCs are buffered so late joiners see correct disguises.
• Flashlight behavior
  • While disguised we spoof crouch during OnPhotonSerializeView write ticks so remote clients hide your headlamp. The small light you see while moving is client-side only.
• Camera toggle
  • Local camera offset around your original view. No parenting changes, no network effects, disguise stays intact.

Hunter gun

• Active only while the round is live. RMB ray up to roughly 60 m.
• Eliminates targets.

Health fairness

• Host runs several heals during and right after pre-hide. Late joiners get topped up when their avatar is ready.

Round end

• We broadcast the winner, show a short banner, reload the scene, and rotate the Hunter.

Balance values (current defaults)

• PreHideSeconds = 30
• HunterLockSeconds = 30
• RoundSeconds = 300
• GunRangeMeters ≈ 60
• GunCooldown ≈ 0.18s
• MissPenaltyHP = 10

(Miss penalty will be lowered to be more fair for the Beta release).

Known quirks in beta

• It supports Late Joining etc! But joining mid-round can delay your first disguise until your avatar finishes spawning.

FAQ

Does switching to third person expose me?
No. It is a local camera change. Your network pose and disguise do not change.

I saw my light briefly. Did the Hunter see it?
No. Remote clients receive a crouched state while you are disguised, which suppresses flashlight visibility for them.

I shot someone and nothing happened.

Upgrades need some color variation overall having 2 orange 3 blue and yellow types is not it

red is for your grabber, yellow is running and stamina, blue is mobility options, and green is for defence and health, map is the outlier but its package is white so its prolly for tool upgrades, likely inventory or flashlight upgrades in the future

I did manage to allow Photon to allow a host swap though by accident one day lol. Photon actually allows it and is built in. The game just closes the connection if host leaves. Just need to find out how the heck I did that again.

Replay Mod Progress

• Items and Valuables are now saved into the replay.

• Players display proper nametags.

The replay was recorded and played back in the same level. The Trudge you see is an actual enemy, not part of the recording.

Next Goal

Following origamicoder's suggestion, the plan is to create a dedicated Replay level. It will rebuild a simplified version of the original generated level where the replay was saved. This way, player names, enemies, valuables, and items can all be shown in a straightforward but effective way.
