I'd say not to add more in game detail cause it's way more fun to see people figure it out and have the choice to figure it out by research. I'm not sure if there is a way to introduce mechanics that you have to figure out without ruining that part if it's directly in the game.

Rando example: If I buy upgrades now they're 20k each. And 40k next time. If I buy them one by one they're 20k, 30k, 40k, 50k.
2x 20k and 2x 40k is 120k
20k + 30k + 40k + 50k is 140k

This does add up quick if you never pay attention to it.
