Cosmetics.

You find "tax tokens" from cosmetic boxes, which have a chance to spawn around the map similar to items. Early levels can only have one box, levels 6+ can have 2 and levels 11+ can have up to 3, the chances of any boxes spawning in a level increase the higher the level number and are 25% more likely to spawn if none spawned last level. This is called the "bad luck multipliyer" and stacks so after multiple levels you are very likely to get at least one cosmetic box.
There are 4 rarities, common (green), uncommon (blue), rare (pink) and ultra rare (yellow), which give different rarities of "tax tokens". They are very easily noticeable, being boxes small, medium, tall, and large, they glow their colour when you notice them, and have different designs for each rarity that being green/common (...) blue/uncommon (16PB RAM cluster) pink/rare(ai thingo...) yellow/ultra rare(12x quantum drive stack). Once discovered they appear as a square with the rarity colour inside it on the map.
They have a health bar of 6 health units and if their health reaches 0 the break. You can heal then by grabber the section of them with the grabber symbol. This will heal them as you would heal another semibot, by exchanging 10hp of your health for 1 unit of it's.
You have to extract them like valuables, and beat the level. In the ending animation Taxman takes replaces the box with a "tax token" of that rarity. If you die, you lose the cosmetic boxes and thus the tokens. Once you have the "tax token" you can use it at a new booth in the shop to perma unlock one cosmetic. There is over 500 cosmetics and most can be individually customised on colours. You will not get a duplicate cosmetic. Once you own every cosmetic the tokens will just give you money. (iirc)

If you installed a mod to give you every cosmetic and you want to get rid of them all, find your cosmetic save file in %userprofile%/AppData/LocalLow/semiwork/Repo/
Once you have deleted the metasave file in that folder make sure to turn off steam cloud and then launch the game , The game will create a fresh cosmetic save with none of the cosmetics unlocked. Once the game is successfully opened and the cosmetics are locked again you can turn steam cloud back on if you wish.
