How do you join a crew/get hired?

what are the main ways one can join a crew?
the crew tab is usually empty and it doesn't seem to have anyone with any slots open.

i'd like to play on a crew as that'd allow me to understand what the server's like more, playing solo is a good way to get bored.

is it really as simple as a radio message in common or trying to go ship to ship asking if they need a spare hand?

buy a baeg, dock to a random ship, state loudly that you are now crew of the vessel you are docked to, get to work

If you just joined the server today, its... in a bit of an april fools state.

Normally, if you go to the salvage/merc area(next to the firing range, in the sw part of collusus), you can ask people at roundstart. People there are generally buying slightly larger ships and probably want someone to watch their back.

Otherwise, i find the sweetspot is usually 1hr-1.5hrs into a round to join a crew via the spawn menu.

My favorite way for expeds is to sneak onto the ship and beg for work but do at your own risk
