#How to become robust at combat?

Practice makes perfect
For ground combat, do expeditions against Syndicate, Rogue Silicon, or Mercenaries
For space combat, go drone hunting with a combat ship or be a shitter and go pirating
But remember the mantra
Never turn a fleet victory into a boarding defeat
Get used to navigating your menu for ammo, meds, and tools

But practice makes perfect
Goob has a thunderstorm feature that’s good for practice ig
most of combat is being in the favourable position
just make sure you have space to move and that you arnt overextending into enemy sightlines
Repetition is key as well
Medication
Gear
Location
But it’s not needed
You can still win with a longarm and a dream
I can 100% attest to this mantra lmfao I once had to deal with a pdv 1v5 and killed four of them because they tried boarding instead of just continuing to glass thr fuck out of my ship

When I play factions I prefer infiltration, research or trading with the USSP for data chita

what people said about practice is important, but setup is also key if you want a true advantage. Observe what other people do for loadouts, but here are a few basic tips:
grenades can turn the tide of any ground combat battle if used right
If you expect to fight head on then use autoinjectors. puncturase and saline injectors are the best in most combat situations
heavy weapon cases can be used as a portable panic room if your ship is being glassed. You can survive almost anything in them, except for ultra-high speed collisions or other item-deleting blows.
I can't give much advice on ship combat, but you can practice on drones using the sellsword if you want a starting point
also hiding in lockers or crates to jump at people is a dirty but effective tactic for defense, best paired with landmines, shotgun traps, burn traps (welding fuel puddle with igniter and pressure plate), blast doors to prevent retreat, and turret spam.
Become a pirate and keep being a pirate even after you die so many times
Eventually you’ll learn how to 1: do ground combat and 2: do ship combat
Tell me more about the burn traps? I'm interested
Some chemicals can be ignited when they are puddles, including welding fuel as the easiest option. They can make a ship inhabitable to those without hard suits quickly. Igniters can be linked with a multitool and the igniter can be placed anywhere on the puddle to ignite the whole thing. Pressure plates are craftable and link able, but doors can be linked too. The only issue with puddle traps is they need proper atmos to burn. Regular air works. Using signal valves you can make plasma or trit traps, capable of ashing anyone in almost any clothing, but that requires some more advanced setup.
Can Remote controller ignite puddles?
