Ok so i'm voting no on xuibacka123. Reasons i dont trust this guy:
-
Seems to be a metagrudge repeat offender looking at their admin notes and ban history. It's not a one-off case thing either, and as someone who has had my own run-ins with the law I want to be lenient and have room for understanding say, that they're trying to improve or regretful of their actions. But the lack of development on their past bans and them just glossing over and not seeming to mention it much, tells me I can't exactly trust this guy to not just abuse the whitelist for more NLR breaking or metagrudges related to ghostroles (like the syndiCat thing he did) it could be disastrous with ADS being such a powerhouse ghostrole.
-
From what I can gather they aren't an exceptional leader or roleplayer which is the abilities I would look for in a whitelistee. It seems to rude to include their fluency in english in this, but its definitely a factor. Their resposes to the hypotheticals dont involve a lot of roleplay, especially the ADS questions. "If the shuttle had prefrac disks i would glass it"... Yeah.
xuibacka123, no - app answers are short and superficial, don't make me confident they will play the leadership roles well, particularly with little attention paid to any possible context, de-escalation, or diplomacy. straight to demotion, execution, coup d'Γ©tat. extensive admin notes further damage my confidence
ominousShark, yes - self-aware of their limitations of being new "Eventually I aim to gain enough experience...", immediately prioritizes negotiation and diplomacy and finding understanding before acting rashly. would prefer this approach for any leadership position anywhere.
CrimsonJupiter, yes - similar prioritization of seeking understanding and paying attention to the root problems (bored, heated), but brings 700 hours + of experience putting that into practice. top-notch answers actually. "My approach ... is to first assume the best. This is importantly a game ..." is an emotionally mature attitude and one that is much needed around here.
I am voting yes on ominousShark.
To bundle up the reasons I see them as a good choice for whitelisting.
They have a good writing style and get to the point, its a small factor that can't turn over the entire verdict, but being able to write fluently is something we want in someone who we will entrust higher roleplay expectations on. So its a small plus.
They have no admin notes so far, after 100h of gameplay this is commendable.
But definitely the highest selling point (and most important) to me was their response to the hypotheticals. On each one they proceeded to solving it in a roleplay-first, soulful way instead of involving out-of-game mechanics and knowledge. I like that very much in someone who is applying for whitelist.
I am voting yes on CrimsonJupiter.
Extremely tenured 700+ hour player, with NO remarks, with good roleplay-first responses on their hypotheticals, and multiple vouches from already whitelisted, also long-standing and high quality players.
Voting No on xuibacka123. Seems prone to powertripping (instant demote rather than deescalation? Ouch.) and judging by others, not the greatest or most cooperative individual either (immediately attempting to usurp power if theres a bad lead? Hardcore, but not what we would want.)
As cool as whitelist is, imagine a vizier or colonel that sees you make one mistake they dont like, and then instantly chastises and disproportionately punishes you for it. That's what im imagining happening with this guy, and I dont like that outlook.
Voting Yes on ominousShark. From what I can tell, they have a good grasp on roleplay and a reasonable train of thought for going through situations in the shoes of an appropriate role. ADS is a bit of a meme to want to WL for at this point considering the horrific reputation its gained at this point, but I cant be bothered about that anyways, people frag.
Good interpretation on ADS laws and seems capable of basic lead, could probably handle stepping up a little higher than captain/asvaran. Give em a go and we'll see how it develops afterwards.
Voting Yes on CrimsonJupiter. Trusted player by anyone in the TSF, and time and time again an excellent leader. Long timer and a good guy to talk to whenever you get the chance. Reputation carries them at this point, I dont get why they dont already have WL honestly. We need more people like him.
oh, Xui had a previous application BTW.

Alright. Voting Yes on CrimsonJupiter. I've worked with him personally for the past 3-5 months and have watched him grow as a player. First as a marine, then as a FTL, then good pilot, then fleet commander, and finally more recently as a captain helping organize. He's been competent, reliable, always ready to throw down whether it be to fight or to rescue other marines, and also ready to RP. Also very mindful of the rules in general, before the safezone rules he's always been one of those to try to keep people in line who weirdly forget about portstrike or safezone.
Give me a bit to look at the other two, I'm not sure yet.
how long do you think until this council idea actually saves you time vs spending time supervising it
OH IT"S GABE SMITH
once I trust you enough to manage whitelists by yourselves
godspeed
Oof, those answers to the command questions...
Yeah okay. He'd fire someone immediately without talking about it, but if a marine goes apeshit shooting everyone, he'd ahelp first, but then try to 'negotiate and find out what the problem was'. Huh? The levels of escalation do not make sense there to me. Also his chimera answer doesn't even take into account about the person intentionally bringing a chimera onto CC at all. Yeah Xui is a deny for me as well.
Are THESE discussions visible btw
Ha. Fun.
Ok Crig's answers are very good. But um, can I hold off on voting til I get a chance to scope him out in game from a ghost warp to see how he does RP wise?
the poll is set for 48 hours
If you get other councilors to agree i can increase/decrease time if yall want
just make a thread in #council-chat
well I personally will see if I can catch a round in the next 2 days (going to be busy tomorrow and I won't be able to tell if they are ADM or not), and the others will have a chance to look and vote anyway
2 days seems like a good enough time frame for now i think
wut
oh no they're back
kek
they walls have ears
Going to be voting No on xuibacka123--Quality shown in answers is lacking, especially in Command answers. Immediate demotion outside of deescalation is extreme, and should be saved for extreme cases, not because someone is ignoring orders. This also applies to the Command action; Immediately moving to remove that person and replace them with someone else instead of trying to give them a chance isn't the showcase of a great leader.
Secondary is the previous notes; Particularly regarding metagrudging. Not a big fan of putting someone in a position of power when there's repeat offenses of metagrudging.
Will be voting Yes here--Seen them consistently on TSF as FTL, sometimes Captain, and has evolved extremely from when I first saw them. They're a genuine leader, they're experienced in the roles they play, and they're incredibly capable overall. Been wondering when they'd make an application, so it's good to finally see it.
Answers are detailed extensively, and give insight into how they act in leadership roles overall already. π
For xuibacka123,

Lackluster answers for the command questions and a somewhat scary admin remark note page, it's not like we're all completely clear on our notes but this one shows a lot more than the rest of us, do not know the character very much but from the little amount I've seen he's got a lot more room to improve.
For ominousShark,

I think they are definitely on the right path, doing nothing wrong from what I've seen in game. However I'll be casting a no since they barely played higher ranking command roles like Asvaran and Captain. Oh don't get me wrong though, their answers are totally detailed enough and good.
For CrimsonJupiter,

I think this one is an easy agree, whenever I was a ghost observer and observed this player they were in a ship with another lower ranking member in their shuttle leading them. I also agree with the part where they mention "finding a player's interest" in their answers, I think the best thing a commander can do is find the tempo and interests of each player and assign them to fitting jobs. Overall detailed and good answers.
To this, I will be abstaining--While their answers are great and they certainly have potential, their time could use a little work and I haven't been able to personally see them around, so I have nothing else to base their behavior or capabilities off of.
Though as this vote will likely pass regardless of my abstention, I will be looking forward to seeing them around.
I will be changing my vote in regards to ominousShark to a No.
What changed my mind is upon further analysis their lack of real playtime (esp. in positions of faction leadership) makes me skeptic that, despite their seemingly well worded responses to the hypotheticals, makes it hard to trust just words. We have to take actions and experience into account. If this player had 200+ hrs of playtime or a lot more experience in those faction command roles, or vouches from trusted/whitelisted players, I would change my answer to a Yes.
xuibacka123, otherwise known as ARMA-229 - no β
I overall see just a lack of effort in the application, a good chunk of the answers are just about one to two sentences and some of them are straight up lacking some of the core actions he should've stated that he would be doing, such as;
not alerting people in CC about the chimera on CC, while code violet is a clear indication that there indeed is a chimera outbreak, it does not specifically indicates where the outbreak exactly is (if its known)
Consulting to ahelp to solve an ic situation that he has the power to deal with, and doing so before the situation even concludes, i am a firm believer of the "rp first ticket later" so this just rubs me the wrong way
Understanding of some of the adm laws are lacking aswell, such as skipping the part where it being up to their discretion to not glass mil ships helping them with chimera outbreak, and they do not specify how they would de-arm
Overall, lack of thought/effort/understanding of rules and rp put into the answers of the questions just puts me off, furthermore when i see that they have 150-200 hours of command roles already (asvaran, tsfmc FTL, denasvar, captain) i believe a WL worthy player should be able to do more when answering simple questions let alone understanding the rules well, my vote is no
Waiting on you to cover the other two, since you're the last pending vote
ominousShark, otherwise known as SCRAP-9, PRESTIGE-000, Sebestyen Ray - no β
While i like what i am seeing when i read the answers to the quesstions on a superficial level, when i focus a bit my opinion from yes quickly changes to an indecisiveness between abstain and no
While answers themselves are perfect, they are a bit, too perfect, a bit too good, too nice, how to say, they lack that slight tinge of that assertiveness/domineering presence a leader should have, especially a leader that has direct command of several troops under their command, in my opinion the top of the command chain has to have that (even if not that much maybe) iron hand when ruling or leading, so that the lower chains of command does not have to compensate for that lack of iron hand and can focus on directing the lower troops to correct places. The more i look the more i see the lack of this iron hand/assertiveness/domineering presence, whatever you want to call it really, the choice of word "negotiate" with a lowest ranking soldier, i dont think this is what a military field commander or a role of equal/close standing should be doing, while informing your subordinates is a should in my eyes, and a must in some maybe, i believe there has to be a height difference, as the commander of the whole thing you should always be standing higher than them and that gap of height should close/lessen as the rank of the troop you are dealing with increases, but issuing important orders or dealing with a problematic soldier, you should never be on the same height/level as them
And when i see their playtimes, especially command roles, their reasoning for wanting WL and their most anticipated role, (though the latest was the least effective factor in my decision) these doesnt really improve or change my opinion,
they might be a good roleplayer but i personally do not see them fit to play as some of the roles WL includes with my reasonings above
CrimsonJupiter, otherwise known as Lava-Wader, Quebulin, Ambroos Van De Geleenbeek Rivier - yes
While i would do some stuff a little different than him, his fluid/smooth responses to the answers, his ample amount of playtime on command roles aswell as normal faction roles, vouches from known good roleplayers, i believe he is fit for WL and its standarts, yes from me.
@glad holly @analog herald @craggy flare #1477163670940422266 message ominousShark put more time into command roles if that means anything for you
ill give it a look in a minute
alright. now that the show is over, I'm voting yes on Shark's application after watching him in game. in my opinion, he's already command material. he handled being Asvaran very professionally - he felt like someone who was in charge vibe wise and a military leader. he also handled some admeme situations rather well in an IC way, honestly referring to things in an RP explained way. his RP is pretty solid, no LRP things that I saw. this coupled with his answers in his thread, I don't think it's too good to be true, I think he intends to back this up in game.
also he's got some damn good aura as a leader imo.
definitely comes off assertive to me.
alright
I will be changing this from abstention to a solid Yes. I got to spend time in-game with him to see how his leadership skills come into play, and I have to say he did extremely well in the position he placed himself in. He knew how to give orders, knew how to handle people and was great with overall leadership.
Very well done to him.
π π π π π
they won the game, give them the good news
Oh yes I was one of the troopers under him, guy's good.
I'm switching to yes as well.
