Basically an antag ghostrole that has an objective to kill one person, but is otherwise bound to normal escalation against everyone else. They spawn on their own ship with a tracker to their target. Their ships are designed around boarding usually, but because there are different assassin types some may have access to decent ship guns. Assassins cannot use their bank account.
Their goal is to:
- kill their target
- bring their target's body or brain on board their ship, or destroy their brain
- use a special console to despawn their ship, and everything on it including themselves
- get paid (automatically after completing previous steps)
assassins get dispatched to kill targets when one person collects too many smuggling notes. at two notes there is a 50% chance of one spawning, which remains constant after. Having a crew collect the notes increases the amount you can collect before an assassin is dispatched. You will get an alert if an assassin is coming after you, but only once the ghost role is taken.
There are three assassin types I can think of right now:
Space ninja:
Similar to station servers ninja, but adapted to ship gameplay. their melee would have to do more damage. Their strength is their ability to go invisible, their weakness is their lack of ranged weaponry (they can still get some through normal gameplay means).
Hitman:
The hitman would be a bald human in a suit with sunglasses. He gets access to some basic merc level gear, a histrov sniper, and his ship has some decent armament. He specializes in taking his enemies out like a regular merc would (in other words, he does not specialize).
Terminator:
basically the old terminator from station servers, which was removed because it sucked in station gameplay. They get more leeway here. They spawn in a shuttle that mimics a framework, and they have no equipment.
all assassins require a lot of playtime.
Basically, this idea is to make smuggling significantly risky since nobody hunts smugglers.
