#How do I get a functional salvage magnet here?

As far as I know, they’re disabled for whatever reason, or don’t work due to some bug, never bothered to find out after being told the magnet does nothing.
Same thing with the autodoc, got told it doesn’t work and never bothered looking into it
Not sure of a way to constantly get a good flow of wrecks but getting quick drive and searching far out from the center for bigger wrecks may help if you’re not already doing that.

There is no need for that.
To get to a wreck all you need is a jetpack ,hardsuit, oxy tank and a mass scanner
unless frontier fixed it, the salv magnet only uses global values for their thing, every single magnet on the entire server would have the same cooldown
i do wish that the magnet pulls could appear in general though, some of the options were fun

nope, it was disappointing after going through the effort of building a magnet
its not a bug
salvage magnet is made for station
not for ship gameplay
meaning that system has to be rewritten to make it work
i mean on goob they worked just fine from the salv shuttle, i see little issue mechanically why it wouldnt be possible to implement here. only issues i can see is it potentially having a cooldown issue, being a little rough on the server letting people spawn in chunks wherever. It could result in some interesting and fun chases for sure, it'd be super funny to see a pirate chasing down a salvage shuttle only for them to turn on the magnet and spawn a space denny's between them and their pursuer
salvage magnet entity is attached to station entity
meaning that cooldown will be same
probably can take a look at that system and attach magnets to grids instead
attached to station entity as in the cooldown itself was tied to the station?
cause almost nobody used the magnet that was installed on the stations over the one that was on the ship
