Cortical borers should not get to freely puppet soulless entities around indefinitely. Their control should lapse in the exact same timespan.
Reasons for this are twofold:
-
There's a pattern of borers just trying to hop into clone bodies and amass clone armies. It's not brain worm behavior, it's fail RP.
-
a. This has gone from a pattern to an expectation. Players who are friendly to borers will often actively seek to clone themselves to make hosts for the children, rather than engage with other players for it.
-
This kills the whole point of borer RP. You're a worm trying to get into a host so you can distribute eggs across the sector and grow the hive. You're not looking for a puppet to pilot 24/7. You're supposed to try to find a balance with your host either through fear or through love, and kill them only if necessary to protect yourself from a host you cannot coexist with.
I see a lot of criticism of borer players for NRP murderbone behavior and ultimately I think a lot of it stems from this. That said, I am not a long-time player of Monolith—I'm a relatively new player that has had some really mixed experiences playing borer. It could be that there's some elements I'm missing here.
