I can't help but feel the urge to deconstruct their critique and give like 50 reasons why they're wrong and heres a detailed list of how they function and why that wouldn't happen etc etc
But again, it doesn't seem to sink in

The other month when jester was still here, he had the exact same issue and got tired of it too and started ignoring people
I got told ATU were my power fantasy role to kill whoever didn't listen to me

Lmao they can tell you to do whatever when a client is involved
Apart from that they're just a normal person
No matter how many times I explained every single situation and scenario you could be in to result in the ATU shooting you, where you are at fault, they just didn't care

Believe me I don't like a couple of things in this server but that isn't going to kill my enjoyment I'll just try to avoid it the best I can
the ATU is a cool idea and people generally liked it when jester initially brought it up, most of the opposition (minus ppl intentionally getting a rise out of overzealous proponents) comes down to there being an implied rule carve out for the ATU in the future instead of letting players handle things themselves
more rules and exceptions for specific roles doesn't fit with the last point made, but that's only imo
Yeah that is what caused me to knee jerk when I heard WL for basic soldiers in the ATU

Although you really aren't limited you're just beholdened to your company

the whitelist by itself is whatever, that's already what ADS is and it wouldn't hurt to have more factions and content that will cause conflict between players
the issue if this were to go through would be a combination of a WL + rules in favor of ATU, instead of giving them the tools to be scary and do what they're supposed to do via game mechanics
i've seen posts along the lines of "people will ahelp ATU for killing them" but i suspect this will go the other way around if specific rules about how people can interact with ATU/their gear/content are implemented
that's just my two cents though and all i can offer is suggestions, hopefully a bit more productive than going back and forth and being accused of being a "stupid fragger" (most of my hours are doing atmos as a civ on this server)
as the main contributor (and only coder) i can confirm the idea of rules is kinda just the template of "ATU can do but should AVOID that" they can do it just not encouraged
yeah can confirm most people are saying they'd frag atu for a hypospray that's basically stronger than the normal one even tho they have no use for it

ATU will use it for like healing themselves and their patients, they're suppposed to heal them basically as soon as they arrive
i dont see the issue with that as long as they escalate first, on the flipside the atu should be able to wipe the floor with these people

this is another thing that needs to be sorted out, are they allowed to escalate in the correct context or do they shoot on sight?
i.e. are they treated as mercs or are they treated as a faction
again, they're supposed to de escalate all situations, they arrive aiming guns but not shooting
if the person is just being a nuisance on purpose but not using lethals they can just flash-baton-cuff
if they point a gun and deny an order to drop/holster it they're just RD1 ending
they have the upper hand in the sense they came to do their job and they want no threat to attack the patient, so yeah they can point guns and order others to lower theirs
they aren't forced to ofc
there should be a document for this made to clear up confusion and save the trouble of repeating it over and over imo

ATU is in fact the mercs, they're like a 5 people squad that have roundstart gear to fight other people, they COULD, but it'd be frowned upon because then they'd have to share the money.

Also Id like people to understand that they are not a fragger faction ... They'll only shoot in self defense or if you're actively trying to give the body
If you're watching them from afar or you killed the patient and are still there but leaving/watching, they won't shoot you
"step away from the patient" warnings, if you break them and are shot, should be implied that it's completely your own fault
We need to make some kind of distinction if TSF hold the patient hostage or something (while crit/dead)
And I'm still not sure if they'll be giving insurance to factions, has that been decided yet @misty charm
still I would like to see them be given freedom to do as they please if it helps the MD. For example, lot of the time I see MD being crowded during a chimera outbreak and I think it would be cool to see the ATU handling the outbreak.

I feel like mercs that spawn at MD should be incorporated more into medical. As of right now mercs act as the armed unit of MD at the moment but also have very limited access to the place.
Right now I think there will be a lot of overlap of armed medic mercs and ATU.

One of the main reasons to play merc is the immediate access to nice armor (warlord/scaf) and weapons ( faction weapons)
I would say just give them an EG-4 because it’s a nice gun with a stun setting.

I think that having a good option for medical merc players to officially be part of MD would be great.
Because right now if ATU would be added it’s would be in direct competition with medical mercs.
Cadets being part of MD would let them work with ATU instead of competing with them.
Should I make another ship after this one or remake the ATU wing at MD, keep the file around for when all the other ATU stuff is finished

From that one and only time i played as a CO Sec i learned that stuns are really weak on here even to targets without any armor
And have atu not just have stuns but tasers
One hit and you are on the floor for the next 3 to 5 seconds
Tasers were too OP in ss13 they completely removed it except the AI turrets and admins

If anything it would make more sense for the ships to be well armored, speedy and boarding focused because like who in their right mind would blow up a ship with their client potentially on it smh
