Their whole deal was that they had been on colony ships for so long they lost their immune systems entirely, and so had to stay inside sealed suits at all times because any outside pathogen to them could be lethal
So Vox like them, have to stay in suits cause outside air is potentially lethal to em. And just like em, they could only remove their suits in a sterile/atmos environment

They decided to make lizards and vox related from the same planet, and that lizards tried to wipe out the vox and messed them up
Though, wouldn't really make sense for vox to be in sterile suits and like gerbil that die if you breathe on them wrong. Considering their ability to eat trash and drink welding fuel on other servers and the lower caste vox known to live in disgusting squalor
I could maybe see higher caste vox that are more "pure" by Paradise lore maybe needing a sterile suit hence why almost nobody has ever seen them outside the inner levels of an ark ship

I think right now we need bio-organic tile set and machinery reskins to fit the whole vox theme for building with. But I don't think that is ever going to get done unless I sprite it myself
