#The Cult of the Machine God

@zinc folio Assigning the religion nerd to this.
THE FLESH IS WEAK!!
(Added background and relationship information: @woven sigil , @novel sleet , @zinc folio )
Balaam vs Machine Church subplots gonna go crazy
It will be super funny to see USSP and TSF realizing that there will be no time for destroying each others bases towards the end of the shift, because they will have to stop the Zealots and the Cult from destroying the whole sector in a Star-Wars like epic space battle
Don’t forget the Hive too. They’re prioritizing biological modifications instead of mechanical
True, but I think the Zealots will take the higher priority for the Cult because they target high tech, which is like killing the Machine God (with referencing what you said in here: #1388557704896839701 message)
The Hive will be probably seen as abominations that hurt themselves for pointless aims and openly fought.
Also looks good. Could include a tid-bit for balaamites that they had encountered a Bishop and his retinue that prioritized stealth over overt hostility
You know from personal involvement that we usually aren’t very quiet.
Agreed
That sounds fine. I did not wanted to say anything on behalf of Balaamites as it is not my product. Having such an interaction would also organisaionally make both factions dire enemies against each other, so both ideology and religion plays importance on the hostilities.
Verily so
fuck no to this the machine god doesn't exist, at most, it's the c'tan shard void dragon, it's not the emperor, there is no omnissaiah, the men of iron confirmed this
i love the omnissiah
your omnissaiah is at best a relic chained 100 miles below the surface of mars kept my the mechanicus in secret
This is not Omnissiah, but slightly inspired from it.
How much for the STCs?
MOTHERFUCKIN MECHANICUS IN MY SPESS GAME?
RAHHHHHH
I think once these new religions get implemented i might have to hop on the larp train tbh
id rather worship the god of not showering
This is NOT my Animation. It is one scene from "Angels of Death" on Warhammer+.
Was tinkering with this for a while... even had Jaws theme in there at one stage lol. Settled on this. It'll prob get copyrighted by GW.
I do these for fun and in my spare time. Stumbling along the way lol. These are just my attempts at making them a bit different...
You must be purged.
And get help from the staff team if there seems to be any clashes.
do you intend to make sick epic sprited gear for the machine cult? Maybe even bionic parts for them?
Structure and longevity to the Machine God.
@burnt pilot I'm kinda interested in writing small lore snippets for this factions, is it alright if I do so?
you have the final say as the maker
I would love to, but I do not know anything about creating sprites. My plan was to first get a cloak that can be used like an EVA, so that it would make it clear who the person is.
After that I was thinking about bionic parts and even a vessel. But seems like it is way over my head to do it. Unless we get a fan here who wants to contribute, I guess it will be just a fantasy 😔
Sure, let's do it! Send it to me when you write them. Would be more than happy to build on core story.
id be doing that stuff so much if i could
time to cook up a ship for the cult

also @burnt pilot would they say coggers instead of poggers
this is vital
coggers
bet
also since we dont have any red robes yet, ill use the goblin EVA suits for now as a stand in
sicnce theyre fashionable AND eva worthy
the ark is nearly done
just finishing up the atmos, electrical systems, thrusters, and weaponry
Our Mecha-Ark looks wonderful
Based
the ark is finished
finally
a fully fledged ark ship, with a focus on mech creation and deployment, featuring 5 hangars, two 4x4 ones, three 3x3 ones. This ship includes a fully fledged xenoarcheology bay, a mining bay, a medical bay, and it's very own mech bay.
it's running on three bananium generators, for ease of fuel sourcing (bananium), highly radioactive, but only those who still cling to their flesh will be affected.
it also features a dedicated shrine room to worship the machien god
and for arms and armor, it's got a layer of plastitanium armor all across the hull, and for offense, its got 5x 90mm autocannons, 8x 20mm PD defense guns, and 4x Mining pulsars.
Sick ship though what class is this ? It's got both lots of guns military rated hull and gyros while having science bay and stuff
it's a MIL type ship with a focus on long term expeditions out in space
it's an ark ship, according to cult of the machine god lore
I'm ngl the ship is amazing and fits the cult but it might be too good in everything to be a regular ship
Especially mil type
jack of all trades, master of none
it's really only upside is it's really got for mechs
also im setting the price up to maybe 200k~ at minimum
Looking at what it got it's pretty good at most stuff it got
I mean the mining part is fully equipped and has mining guns and shit
By all means it's not bad on the contrary
ah. fair...
Honestly dude
It would be omega based if the cult didn't settle down and used the ark(s) as mobile bases
It would explain their modularity but also make very few of them be present
Y'know ?
Regardless banger ship I gotta say
I really like what you did for the exterior that's some top notch work
thanky thankyy
Brother is cooking on all sides
That is the Lore. There are Sects which are mobile. Techpriests govern a specific ship and they have their own unique agenda. So, one Sect Ark may be outbound for a different mission.
They don't have to be friendly with one another or have same ideals, but they need to follow the Clergy
We calculated that this ship requires 5 people min to function and 2 for mech assault
Of course
I mean broadly mining lore and gameplay
Mixing*
So if we get super popular, there will be max 2-3 arks per game
Having a superheavy ship that does a lot of different stuff well will be costly and limited
*nods
Sounds more than good to me
I know that is why it is expensive and only MIL
I think it balances out though
It is durable, strong, and has mecs
I think availability wise it should be a bit more restricted and not just to any merc or large science crew
As in restricted to the cult
I agree, this should be Cult only
But yeah I know ship first rest later I did the same
Because it's whole purpose is to have one specific ship to do your own religious things
Cult does not like fleets
That is why in General I said "Watch what Cult does to non-Cult using an Ark"
They will probably do everything to destroy you, thinking you took over from a Cult Crew

@burnt pilot ill work on PRing this, help me come up with the description of the ship, it's functions, lore.
and why should it be added to the game, what will it do to the servers balance, etc.
just write it down so i can copy paste it later on the github description
Working on it will send it as a private message once done.
the fnaf bridge lockdown, just in case of boarders
also there are two shutter lockdown buttons, just in case i didnt mention
locks down the northern part ofthe ship and the southern part of the ship respectively from windows and entrances, to prevent damage and boarding
this is from a draft document with other ideas on separate pages, this excerpt is the first finished product
the first ARK ship is now in PR!
yipppieee!!
I really liked it. Especially the third paragraph, it openly shows why the Cult is hostile yet not directly attacking Balaamites, like trying to show that they are upholding the mechanical being but in the mean time willing to do everything to show Balaam's followers are in the wrong and they should just 'repent'.
One thing that I would suggest is, to not use the word Sect for foreign groups. We could call Balaamites as a 'movement'. Calling them an Order would make the Cult recognising them like some sort of well structured group. So that word seems to be more appropraite (unless you have some other suggestions)
The reason being is that the word Sect is highly used by the Cult. There are Planetary Sects (led by High Techops), Sector-wide Sects (led by Techops), and Vessel-based Independent Sects (led by Techpriests).
If we call Balaamites as Sects it may give the idea like they were some sort of fracture from the Cult or they were part of it or aligned.
Regardless, great job my man! I hope people will take the time and read this.
very nice, I'll make the necessary adjustments
NGL
ngl
its not heavily armored or armed enough to be a military level ship
for its absurdly big size
being apart of a company adding access to id maybe...
@sand prawn added plaster outside and said it is quite durable
For its size
Its armaments and single plastitanium layer of armor is fine for an exped level ship
It doesn't really feel like a military ship.
Its internals are for the most part non military focused
No military gear, etc
That's what I wanted a long time ago
Then what is your suggestion?
We will make the vessel for all factions now, but yeah, civilian cult members should be able to use this...
HAIL THE MACHINE GOD!!!
good news!
the arkansaw now can do expeds since its now classified as an exped computer
BABAHAHAH
ITS SO FUCKING HUGE
THE EXPED IS DEADASS THE SAME SIZE AS THE SHIP
Lol
minin science exped ? god daym
I know I know
So... It occurred to me...
If someone boards one edge of the ship...
By the time the crew on the other side reaches to breachers;
- Breachers dies
- Crew dies
It is awesome
already thought of that scenario
two emergency shutters to lock down the windors and doors
the only non locked doors are the docking ports
I am loving this
and the bridge has two airlocks with buttons next to them
that bolt the doors shut to the bridge
it'll be up to the crew to meet the would be boarders though
or get the AI to bolt the docking ports too
but yeah, if there were boarders, its gonna be hard for both parties to meet eachother
just make sure to lock down both the north and southern part of the ship with the shutter buttons
and you should be fine...
unless you forgot to close the mining bay and science bay shutters
since those arent connected to the lockdown shutter button
(these are old pics btw so not 100% up to date with the current arkansaw)
GOOD NEWS FELLAS
THE ARKANSAW IS MERGED!
ALL HAIL THE OMNISIAH
MACHINE GOD LIVES!!!!!
Addendum: This ship is purchasable by everyone, but YOU MUST BE ALIGNED WITH THE CULT.
This is a Cult Mothership
Created by the Cult
a normal civillian cannot have this, if you have it and a Cultist sees it; you are either dead or ship will be taken away from you.
make it a lore tidbit that the cult despises non-cultists to use their equipment because its sacred
only those "ascended" may commune with such devices
so
does the cult intend to use the omnichurch as their base of operation
the name is there
I am thinking about making it a neutral zone for meetings because not all members of the Cult has the same alignment.
Lets say a TSF Techpriests wants to speak to an USSP Techpriest, they can invite each other there.
Group Creator has left.
It is now defunct without somebody to maintain it and uphold the vision of it. There will be a three day period where somebody can claim ownership over this thread/idea and build upon it or tear it all down.
Why’d he leave
I’ll take the group @novel sleet
Kinda pissed he deleted the original message and I’m not gonna rewrite it immediately
Can you see if you can find the original message in logs please
Very good. I await what you write
I’m not gonna be writing much for a bit honestly, it’s just a cool group and I understand the roleplay
And I’d prefer it doesn’t get
The original group idea proved violent, it was also a reference to 40K
Killed
Wdym violent
From the level of violence shown by this group (according to my compatriots), I’d recommend using the Zealots as the example of how far you can go with the violent aspect of it
Im totally keeping the mechanicus vibe
That’s entirely fine by me
That's fine, just make sure that factions go above the group and that escalation won't be an issue.
Because that was an issue prior.
Zealots are loosely based off the luddic path with biblical pieces added
Taking inspiration is entirely expected and encouraged
If you give me the original message
Inspire from it
Yea
I’d rather tweak it and build off it
Threads have to have one
Great
I’ll need time to think about what I gotta do with this
SOL?
That’s my name irl
Funny
I’ll need time to think on this; I just didn’t want it being killed
it wasn't supposed to be violent
like
it was stated to not be violent, except towards balaam and only in a "indirect warfare" type way
It wasn't, it just developed into that unfortunately
no it wasn't
that's not true
it was not deleted 2 weeks ago
I was referencing it like, 3 days ago
It wasn't a recent deletion
😭
Fuck.
That changes things significantly. Stating that you aren’t violent then getting hostile to people isn’t proper escalation or even Roleplay.
Zealots are overtly hostile against people who are fulfilling a certain criteria, and it’s outright stated that they’re volatile to deal with.
yeah
they were unpredictable
I think that was
original idea was they do not engage in conflict, unless it's needed
I think one of the only examples are non cult members driving an ark
but that is less of an actual lore tid bit and more of a consequence of any lack of company unique access
And also I think if it needs a new owner it would ideally need someone who's up to advance it's lore etc.
Unless you know, it's for the sake of keeping it up and giving the seat to someone more dedicated once they show up.
i think id love to participate in the cults survival
albeit with help from people who have 40k experience to tell me how mechanicus acted in lore
so that i can apply to this cult
because i never had much in the way of 40k lore beyond its base but i do know mechanicus were always involved and at the least indirectly
which i thought was a cool thing to see in the background playing out across that univeerse
and besides
baseline ss14 literally HAS a machine god
which is fucking hilarious to me
itd be a waste to just dump this cult
ratvar ratvar ratvar
if ANYONE is willing to help me completely rewrite the lore since it got demolished
i am more than up to the task of doing it
gn rubee
@zinc folio ironically with you being the owner of the COGs anti thesus i think youd be able to help with this cults lore
WAIT, some guy already WROTE lore for this
its in the logs i know it
the people crave the cult of the machine LMFAO
lore courtesy of @warm phoenix
this would be the perfect cult to monopolize off the ss13 clockwork cult
dw home dawg im already monopolizing on this power struggle
@graceful mirage do you want to take over the company then
Im mainly just holding it so it doesnt get deleted
id love to be the placeholder company leader
im already trying to revive its original basis
as long as someone does it yeah
Im not much of a writer
im an ideasguy
its a waste to let go of a company with assets in the works and ingame
yeppers
lmk if u get any ideas ideasguy
new lore just dropped

[IN REGARDS TO THE "CLOCKWORK"]
The thought of a cult in worship of a higher being other than the Machine God would, under normal circumstance, be considered blasphemous to many who worship our scriptures and vows. The elusive who speak in tongue and convert any who they deem fit for their otherworldly purpose have only been encountered by our Arks on rare occasion.
Many reports to come from those who witness the servants have stated them to be clad in bronze and wielding otherworldly devices that hold the likeness of our divine scriptures. Some of our most trusted Artificers who tend to said scriptures all have similar responses upon interrogation from the most skilled Biomagus among the Arks.
Every victim of the servants of bronze have all one universal claim. That they have seen the machine god's very resting place. A city lost to any history books of the modern and esoteric era alike. Coincidentally, every techpriest to have ever returned from these involuntary expedites have all returned with irrecoverable damage to their frontal lobe.
It is largely speculated that the Cult of the Clockwork have some relation to our Machine God. This fact is debated between Arks without cease and has been an ongoing topic of many of them in an attempt at uncovering the rival cult's mysteries. All in hopes that it would help the Cult of the Machine God reach the 'divinity' that the victims speak of in audio logs.
TL;DR: The clockwork cults relation and hostility to the Machine God and its followers are entirely up to Mechanissiahs and Techpriest alike. It is theorized that both cults hold the same origins and only differentiate in their end goals. There are even popular rumors that the Machine God IS the Clockwork's god. The basis of ideals regarding this vary between Arks.
)===============================C
(I took inspiration from the balaamite texts)
im gonna work up the "ranks"
i never really noticed any sort of names for people under worship of the machine god
)===============================C
THE MACHINE GOD'S LOYAL FOLLOWERS
(Mechanicum = Specialists who are vital to the Independence and self sufficiency of an Ark)
(Calcesamechus(Cal-seize-am-mech-us) = A term for the general crew of an Ark)
Techpriest Mechanicum - The universally renowned rank among the cult, the Techpriest inherits the duty of keeping the ship orderly and functional. Ensuring that the Ark's most vital assets have what is needed to function as well as other menial tasks provided by other Mechanicum.
Biomagus Mechanicum - The Ark's specialist of the biological. Serving as the medium between the mechanical and the flesh, the Biomagus ensures all Mechanicum are in good health at all times and ensuring the Ark is properly stocked with what is needed to sustain it's Calcesamechus. The biomagus is the sculpter of the human body, the flesh is weak.
Consortium Mechanicum - The Consortium are experts at navigation between the Ark's various destinations. Plotting courses and providing expeditionary coordination, the Consortium aboard an Ark is necessary for the crew to be provided with a map of their destiny.
Artificer Mechanicum - While the Mechanicum aboard an Ark is not inherently hostile, armament is necessary for survival of an Ark, which is the Artificer's duty. Providing the crew with what is needed to stay combat-capable in the face of inevitable combat between the Calcesamechus and its enemies.
Xenoarcus Mechanicum - The Xenoarcus is the backbone of the Mechanicum. There would be no progress toward divinity without the Xenoarcus and their scientific ingenuity. This role provides the crew with the most state-of-the-art technology. A scribe and scolar of the Mechanicum's ancient worship.

does the cult have a leader
Also jesus christ these names would SUCK
ranks*
would suck
to put in ur name
wlel
mechanicum doesnt have to be there
its just a signification of the ranks placement on the ark
True actually
Mechanicum..... Its over chat
🕊️
copyright of funny pun
you must choose corpo maker
ive been using COG since its... thematic
although the acryonym isnt lining up well
CMG would be = cult of the machine god
but COG is more iconic
Cog is clockwork cult…
coggers
but yeah ill probably edit it to whatever @graceful mirage choses the next acronym to be
I find it funny that
The group refers to themselves as a cult
Most cults don’t call themselves cults
Infact most cults avoid being called cults as much as possible
its only logical that they refer to themselves as a cult
since in reality, a cult is exactly what they are
and them being aware of this is pretty analytical
denying it would be considered an affront to their ideals since it involves harboring emotion toward the term
Cults don’t call themselves cults because it attracts negative stigma usually
depending on the setting and how fanatical they are it may very.
if you view it from a modern (today) perspective you're right
Inspiration where the group was taken from (40K) is grimdark and it fits
Here, depends, I'd argue it does.
