  • SS14 Username: EctoplasmIsGood

  • In-game character names: Primaris Harlon, Stains the Stars

  • Age: 17

  • **Usual online times (in UTC): ** I don't really have any usual online times since my sleep schedule is very random, I just kinda hop on whenever I feel like it if I'm awake lol. I'm on CST (UTC-6)

  • Any prior staff or moderation experience? (Include game/server, role, and responsibilities): Not on SS14. I have 2000 hours on Gmod and frequently did admin work over there. I was a mod with IFN (Icefuse Networks) multiple times and have a few hundred hours worth of experience moderating roleplay centric servers because of that.

  • Have you ever been banned from Monolith? If yes, explain why: I did get banned once on my second round, it was a round duration ban. Earlier in the shift I was kinda roaming onto peoples ships (I did NOT know that was illegal) and some TSF boarded my ship. One of the TSF threatened to kill me and destroy my ship. Later into the shift my engine got blown out and I called SOS, and the responding marine happened to be the same one that threatened me earlier. I waited a bit then took an opportunity and killed the marine, stole their ID, and took their ship. After I took their ship I started teaming up with the rogue commandant because he had paid me for killing the previous marine, and I just kinda did rogue shit for the rest of the match and got into fights. The next morning I did apologize to the parties involved since I kinda blew things out of proportion and didn't escalate properly, esp considering I was a contractor. I DID APPEAL THIS AND THE NOTE ASSOSCIATED WITH THE BAN HAS BEEN REMOVED

  • How has your experience been with Monolith staff? Be honest—this helps us improve: I haven't had any issues yet, don't have much more to say.

  • Why do you want to be an admin, and what would you contribute to the team?: I like monolith and the staff team as of now seems pretty chill and I think it would be fun to work with them for the benefit of a community. I don't really have some super deep reason for it, I just think it would be a cool opportunity to fill some of my time and contribute to a server I like in the process.

I do have experience moderating RP servers in other settings as mentioned earlier, and I'd say because of that I kinda already understand the jist of how its meant to work. I'm active on the discord, and starting to ramp up my activity in-game since I just got over some sickness. As of now my hour count is fairly low (I think around 26/27 hours?) but I still think I have enough time spent around the community through discord as well as playing the game to kind of know my way around and understand how everything here works.

  • If accepted, is there anything you'd like to change or improve about the current staff team?: There's no huge flaws I see right now, I think the main issue is honestly just that there isn't enough staff, so there's a lot of times where ahelps just never get answered. I feel like some questionable mechanics have had to be added to make up for the fact that there isn't enough admins to deal with raiders (FOB invincibility my beloathed) and I think that beefing up the team and getting people with more diverse hour ranges would be good overall.

  • What do you think is key to maintaining a good staff reputation?: Remember that even if you're speaking as an individual you represent a bigger group. I think its good to be mindful of who and what you represent when you are associating yourself with a particular group.

  • Either tell a story about a time a player broke the rules, or make one up (could be anything; the more thoughtful, the better). What did you do, or what would you do in that case?: Recently I was playing TSFMC and a rogue attacked FOB before the 4 hour mark, but they pretty quickly backed off. I think a lot of rule breaks are minor and I emphasize the fact that a lot of problems can be solved through roleplay. I didn't ahelp it because I didn't feel the need to, I just rolled with it in character and kept moving forward. The TSFMC was alerted that rogues had violated the ceasefire, and we were on high alert to compensate for that, no admin intervention needed whatsoever.

If I was an admin and I saw a problem like that being handled through RP, the most I would do is add a hidden note just incase it happens again, but besides that I don't really think intervention is required there.

  • Two senior admins are publicly breaking community rules and arguing. The head admin is offline. What do you do?: Attempt to de-escalate PRIVATELY. You can DM them individually and try to get them to take it out of the public eye, but telling them off in public helps nobody. If its genuinely problematic rule breaks then let em know they're going too far in DMs, and if it continues then send a DM to Ark (I don't think we have a headmin) and just let him know what's happening/happened so he's aware whenever he sees the message. Its not your job to wrangle staff, don't make it a bigger deal then it has to be and keep it civil.

  • You receive an ahelp about a new rogue-role player attacking others without clear reason. No prior notes on them. What are your next steps?: A lot of rogues do this, they don't understand their spot in RP and think they can just blow people up for fun. I'd check if theres a commander/commandant online and let THEM know first so the new player can be alerted THROUGH ROLEPLAY and learn through roleplay aswell, but if that isn't an option you can contact the problematic individual via ahelps and let them know that they should have roleplay reasons for their actions.

Depending on the severity of the attacks you could give them a note or a warning, but I don't think you should consider a ban unless they're an OBVIOUS raider, which is kinda hard to do nowadays with FOB immunity.
