I understand what allegory Abstraction is supposed to be, but...

Taking into account the "belief" system of the digital world, just had a thought: What if abstraction was actually intended to be Scratch's "gimmick"?

Scratch was an individual that's heavily implied to have been motivated to make these strange technologies due to their terminal illness.
If the fear of a tumor-induced death has been around on their mind for so long, then perhaps the program responsible for their design/gimmicks also has incorporated this horrible issue onto the player's digital self.

And since IRL tumors could sometimes grow eyes at random, could this explain why an abstracted player has THAT much eyes on them?
EDIT: Also consider how abstracted players typically take on the form of a "quadruped" creature... and that Scratch is a dog

As for why other players abstract, since there exists a "belief" system in the digital world, perhaps this attempt of rationalizing what happened to Scratch had the unintented consequence of creating a "cognitohazard".
With the idea and "evidence" of a way to "die" in the circus now being established and ingrained into these player's memories, they genuinely start to believe that their turn into these monsters would be inevitable, and it'll be what they'll think of strongly upon hitting their breaking point

It could also add a bit of some more abstragedy for Kinger's character, as he could've accidentally re-introduced the "concept" of abstraction to the next generation of players at some point.
Once again he ropes the people he loved into a strange and dangerous situation...

...It's just a thought though, IDK if they'll go deep into abstraction for the finale or if it just remains as this force that the players need to overcome

C&A’s existence and caine’s office were real, but Abel and the escape wasn’t,
Here, it may be the same thing, Scratch’s obsession with this something and kinger dragging others down with him are real, but the whole ending of “I need a new host thing” was made up

The problem, though, is that it's apparent from the Flashback of EP8 that basically every developer in the circus was as lost and confused as any other player.
So it's quite likely Kinger would gradually figure out the ins and outs of the digital world... but with all that personal stuff going around, maybe he just couldn't focus on this idea to begin with...?

The thing about creative AI's is that they need to be constantly controlled to get any sort of desired result.

When an adventure is created, if left on its own the "game" can just stall for long periods of time without making much progress. The "creator" has to force the "game" to advance to the intended objective.

It is ironic, then, that this dynamic has been flipped on its head in the show.

Caine, the AI meant to serve humans, ends up being the control freak towards the real human players for his adventures

Ok you know I say this but something about the "control freak" element just doesn't feel right with me...

Because for his first 3 adventures Caine is unusually absent

He made 2 adventures for a specific player but neither of them actually participate in them, he doesn't even try getting them back on track

In one of his adventures, players were able to compelte it via glitches, and he ONLY THEN realizes it when it's over
