It seems to me that they wanted to make a whole new game set in the Forgotten Land's world but were held back due to the fact that it had to be an expansion of Forgotten Land. That's my theory, of course. Again, I haven't and probably won't play it until I get a Switch 2.

I feel more like they wanted to do an update in similar vain to star allies’ content like the dream friends or hiad but while developing they just so happened to be around the switch 2 update planning so they were offered the choice to bring it in as part of the switch 2 upgrade lines and they took it.
Also kinda unrelated but I feel like people forget a bit that this isn’t just dlc its also a complete reoptimization update. So like its kinda like a 10 dollar console upgrade plus 10 dollar dlc

My main concern when watching the trailers is that it looked like they just painted over the levels...

Even with Forgo Dreams, the areas had a somewhat different color palette and atmosphere and heavily modified layout and enemies to make it feel different.

oh, no, no, no. If you already have a completed save file, you don't have to start from scratch. But I want to do that

SCW, even though it gives me heavy post-game impressions, is made to go alongside story mode

So regardless if you started a new file or are continuing from your 100% save, it's basically just a new game mode (Like Heroes In Another Dimension).

It's just that Forgotten Land's style of "modes" is all about adding them in a way that feels "natural", so no menus!

(Which BTW is a very cool thing this game has been doing)

and the flowrs on the buildings are bigger and less plentiful

also i noticed that one of the buildings in the back has bugged flowerm odels and they are way too big

As for DoF blur that's just how it works on a technical level, its a blur that depends on the resolution of what's being blurred so its going to look less blurry the higher resolution the image is

The game looks like 10x more blurred in handheld than docked, for example

Because handheld is of course lower resolution

A lot depends on how fast you play, and whether you're poking into every corner or not. Just from first level to last, it was between 4 and 5 hrs for me, but I do play slowly. That's not considering arena stuff and "going back to get stuff I missed" which I will do later

done with the 4 first worlds when it comes to dlc. had my save file deleted so ive been playing the main story and dlc in tandem with each other. at first i was super upset cuz my 100% save file gone, but im glad i get to re-experience the main story again cuz it made re-appreciate how good the game is 3 years later. not all all levels are winners, but so many of them super intricate and well made. the dlc stages are also incredibly well made. i love the the new mouthful modes and i love how the game brings back a bunch of the old ones to make new challenges and set pieces with them. the increased difficulty and longer levels are also very welcomed. im not even done with the dlc but it just makes me want the next mainline 3d game. they def cooked here
