It feels greedy to ask for that but this movie is so obsessive over the idea of eventually making a Smash Bros. Movie with how much of a focus they put on ||Fox, especially how they put a scene involving Fox and the Arwing’s communicator directly before a scene of two Lumas fighting as Mario and Donkey Kong,|| my first thought when seeing those two back-to-back was “god they want to make a Smash Bros movie so bad” which brings me to my next point-

They did such a good job with characters like Yoshi, the Toads, and especially the Lumas that I feel like a Kirby movie would be a natural step given how they’ve very clearly demonstrated their ability to make these kinds of characters work and how much they fun this team gets out of using Nintendo’s properties in general. The issue then becomes “where’s Sakurai” given how much of an involvement he’d naturally have in a project of that scale, which I can’t really comment on

So I watched the Mario Galaxy Movie and I'd say it's pretty good
||Kind of a mess with its new cast and some of its old cast (Luigi yet again doesn't do much and Yoshi was kinda pointless) and adaptations but Bowser is even a better villain than he was in the first film (more intimidating while simultaneously more complex), Peach is still my goat, Mario somewhat played a better role than he did in the first film, and I like Bowser Jr, a great addition to the movie
But goddamn, the story is even a bigger mess than the first film, pointless addition of new characters and many plot points that didn't feel like Galaxy unfortunately
But overall I like the film for what it is and while I do prefer the first film (it was less of a mess), the second one is overall good for what it is||

Like the whole olimar ship being spotted only to subvert our expectations and it's a lot tinier when the camera zooms as the pikmin comes out, feels like the animators did their homework and it was actually a cute comedic timing imo. It's like a 5 second scene that didn't overstay its welcome.||

I had this out there idea of a future movie having Shadow Mario be a creation of Bowser Jr. rather than a disguise where he's sent to try (and fail) to ruin Mario's image. After his failure to frame Mario, he's left abandoned until the Mario Brothers take him in. Going into fanfiction territory, I had this even more out there idea of various Mario based Horrorbrews like MX, PS135, Friendly Plumber, etc. being paint creations of Bowser. Jr who instead of going for ruining Mario's image are just pure muscle whose appearances are in mockery of Mario but there's no way they'd reference any horrorbrews to that capacity.

Okay so another reason why I'm probably a lot kinder to the movie is that when someone mentioned that scenes don't mesh with each other I was thinking it'll be like ||Kamen Rider Ghosts, where the characters suddenly transition into a completely different backdrop with no actual explaination at all. I could at least see all the transitions happening within the movie itself.||

I question if my standards are just way too low but then I'm reminded that no, there's plenty of media that has pissed me off before even going in thinking they'll be ok at best.

||going through the soundtrack now, and i remember enjoying the 3D hot rally arrangement (those notes I'm familiar with from Smash's Famicom Medley i think) but even more giddy when I heard the Tostarena sting||
||I don't really remember hearing the megaleg theme, my recollection aside, isn't the theme way too different? by that i mean the feeling of it, it's more orchestral than robotic. I guess it suits the tone they were going for for movie BowserJr., same goes for Honeyhive Galaxy what with the Honeymines or whatever||
||overall I found the references in the previous movie more well crafted, for example when mario first traverses the mushroom kingdom and its platforms, it makes sense to use the various main themes, almost as a foreshadowing||
||similarly, the sticker star cutscene music is a masterful pull, the scene is about a big cheep cheep, soit makes sense youd use the music for, a big cheep cheep ||
||I will say though, it's kinda odd that the most recognizable as in complete in idea music wise, is the star fox music. that's kind of the fault of the rest of the soundtrack for not living up to how well excecuted the star fox mhsic was thoigh||

I mean if you just mean 'it existed' yea there's a reason I even asked because it seemed like a lot more people were saying it recently when its always been a turn of phrase

Especially when compared to Peach who has a lot to work with, which is why I'm kinda mixed on Mario and Luigi

Although I can admit Luigi is a bit better in terms of personality in the second film at least (since he appears more often) even if I find his role pointless
