Starts with Bowser terrorizing the penguin kingdom. Cuts to the Mario Bros plumbing commercial. They probably do some job that sends them into the Mushroom Kingdom, but Luigi gets separated along the way. Mario meets Toad and is taken through Toad Town to the castle. Cuts to Luigi running for his life from Dry Bones and getting captured by Bowser. Bowser does his big intimidation tactic with Luigi and talks about some prophecy. Cuts back to Mario meeting the Princess, and she warns him about the oncoming threat of Bowser. She’s aware of the prophecy too. They need to acquire an army, so they set off to the Kong Islands. But first before they do that they do a training montage. Once ready, there’s another montage of them traveling across the Mario world with Yoshi’s Island, Bob-omb Battlefield, and Tostarena. Cut back to Luigi in his cage talking to the penguins and Lumalee. Probably reveals something plot-important. Bowser probably has a big musical number as he goes on to send his army to the Mushroom Kingdom while the princess is away. Mario arrives on Kong Island and is eventually forced into a battle against their champion DK to prove they’re worthy enough for the Kong army. Mario wins somehow. Cranky approves. They get the news that Bowser is invading the mushroom kingdom, and Cranky knows a way to get there fast. Takes them down to the Kart factory where they build karts, and set off on Rainbow Road. The blue shelled Koopa leads a charge to stop them on the course but fails. They get back to the Mushroom Kingdom as Mario and DK work together to take down enemies, and eventually up to Bowser’s castle. And then comes the part that is completely unknown and unrevealed from the trailers.

Probably Mario finds Luigi and they have a touching reunion, as they go to stop Bowser. Likely ending with them cutting the bridge he’s standing on. The Bowser army retreats with the defeat of their leader and everyone celebrates.
