for the true arena, tornado is still one of if not the best ability for this (along with sand and a few others)
use magoland items, as they can be a good way to heal, and you can get maxim tomatoes after completing 50 missions in magoland so do that

my personal favorite character to use besides kirby is dedede, because he does B I G damage

sand has a shield attack (during shield, use b) which can be very useful and can do good damage as well, so its good for the bosses and minibosses
