I guess you're right that DT is a distraction, however:

Most bosses in the game have minions you can Phaselock with Maya, which will grant you buffs if you're running the skills for it.

Axton's turret, from what I hear, does a lot of damage and Slags for you. However, this is only hearsay, as I have no experience playing Axton.

Krieg has insane skills with gun only, whereas Gaige's gun only is just.. Anarchy. It's cool, but annoying. I honestly wish I didn't have to use it to get Robot Rampage.

Every other character's Action Skill is capable of granting the user additional damage against bosses directly, whether it be through buffs, or the Action Skill itself (Gunzerk, Buzz Axe Rampage). Gaige's Action Skill against bosses grants an indirect damage buff at best (not having to deal with as many minions, potentially. This doesn't even work very well). The saving grace of DT is how well he mobs - until he dies, which is basically inevitable.

I farmed it until I got Electric. But for me, playing Maya, the high-percentage slag is still better because of Cloudkill. I had one at 79%, which with Flicker and Badass bonuses, raised it to (over) 100% slag, but got another higher-damage rifle with only 69% slag chance, lowering the overall chance to 95%.
When the corrosive damage numbers rolling off the enemy go from 3 digits to 5 digits, slag is really paying off.

@eager laurel True, but I use Phaselock mostly when things get close or for taking out groups. The sniping with slag is for picking off things one at a time (or more, if they walk into the Cloudkill AoE) from a a distance they can't return fire from effectively.

I'm using my class mod and relic for decreasing Phaselock cooldown, along with 4 levels of Quicken, so it's around 6 seconds. I use it in combo with either Good Touch or Bad Touch, depending on whether they are flesh or machine.

Never could get the hang of the barrel catapult. I've stuck with the machine guns on the light runner. I was worse with the barrel catapult than I was with the rocket launcher, and that's pretty bad. LOL

I rarely ever use the boost. I prefer the maneuverability of the light runner, especially since I find shredding stuff with the dual machine guns to be very satisfying. I started out using the rocket launcher because I thought the extra damage would be more helpful. But after reading someone here saying the MGs had better DPS, I gave it a try and haven't looked back.

Lots of frustrating (for me) misses with the launcher and the catapult. Not so with the MGs. I never have tried the sawblades, and probably should, just to see.

Oh, they're "IED boosters" and not shield boosters? Haven't encountered those, but I only have the base game.

cause it’s only part of that shield

it’s just a regular shield booster but it fires out a bunch of grenades as it travels basically

issue is the grenades damage you so it’s hard to use
