the game doesnt bother mentioning how these skills actually work, or how big an impact it makes

iron hand for example, is almost completely drowned out by the innate deception melee bonus because it only adds to your melee modifier

while killing blow is entirely multiplicative

and lets you finish off enemies even outside of deception

if you use a legendary ninja, ambush and backstab together is

this much melee damage

Spend points in killing blow. Iron hand isn't as helpful in later game unless you just want that max health
Backstab is more powerful than it looks so experiment with that
Ambush is all around good regardless of combat settings
One point in Unforeseen cause it staggers enemies and can drain a shielded target while you use your main deception attack. More useful than you might think based on my time with it.
The cooldown bonus from Grim is very lacking. You are getting a second or two at most. The shield regeneration is nice if you are wanting that, but if you are using roid shields, it's pointless.
