some things should really not be convertable

keeping to 20 cards is almost always a good rule of thumb, but spell/trap count could vary wildly from deck to deck
caring about monster count really depends on you having a deck that converts monsters in hand directly into field presence - compared to, say, a deck that has a 1-card combo or a deck that uses spells/traps in its main gameplan

Actually, it does something:

1. With Transmigration to Limited 1, they lose access to Divine Felgrand, which is also Limited 1.
2. They also lost access to Giantrainer to do a deep dive in Turn 1.
3. Tachyon FTK is dead. Good riddance. Konami doesn't like consistent FTKs.
4. Both Shiranui and Tachyon loses access to the generic Limited 1 / Limited 3 cards. If Shiranui wants to play Beatrice, they need to play one less copy of Solitaire.

• Hit Shiranui slightly less hard than Tachyon, since they only barred them from the Limited 1 and Limited 3 cards.
• Killed Tachyon FTK and the toxic Vengeful Servant FTK which came in various ways.
• Freed some cards that didn't matter a whole lot. Even Ophion isn't doint a lot.

Maximums basically serve as a secondary wincon and a way to insta win against the bad decks of the format

Warriors which was fun but sometimes frustrating deck became straight up unplayable, same with the aqua piles, both disco fever and dian keto aggro builds

Dragias does not feel strong enough to justify building around, which can bring joy to some but i personally found the existance of a good card pile not reliant on skills healthy

Cyberse is basically is a deck that basically attempts to fish for matchups since it has very little tools but the ones that it has can carry games sometimes

Harpies are both the best deck of the format but somehow also very unsolved, people are conflicted between the aqua engine and just playing a ton of backrow and low level winged beasts to fuel middle harpie and counter pigeon, both variants are fine picks and tend to play more slow, grindier gameplay compared to everything that came before it, which causes a bit of a whiplash when rush is basically built around the idea of flashy gameplay where aggressive pushes happen basically every turn, and harpies tend to play reactively and passively

Thunders are a cute deck but feels very underwhelming, its looks better than it actually is when you're facing it

And i honestly don't like the direction that spellcasters took, i liked playing with and against the accel road and magician shuffle builds more

Backrow in this format is very underwhelming in almost everything since everyone has access to MSTs and ghost cyclone has started to show its irl reputation of being a very sacky card

Except in harpies exactly, who have basically 25 free slots on their deck and can simply afford to play around 12 copies of backrow, making the deck very annoying to face against depending on what deck you're using

And since maximum decks are very slow by nature, harpies can afford to wait and accumulate advantage, to the point of you only drawing a single card for turn in most games

As for royal rebels... It's also complicated, it's a VERY fun deck, to play with and against, but it also invalidates so many different decks its hard to justify its existance sometimes

TLDR:

the new releases centralized the meta around the new cards, maximums existing are both underwhelming but also invalidates any deck that cannot deal with one in engine, which is basically all decks that didnt get support this wave (and ace flag), the meta has shifted into a glorified RPS minigame where matchups can feel unwinnable by nature and games can sometimes be very sacky by virtue of one of the players opening 3 pieces of a maximum early

I honestly prefered the previous meta, despite some of the new playstyles being very interesting to use

Rush in DL was doomed from the start

Dl's main playerbase post md's launch basically amounts to people who treat the as a gacha first and yugioh second, and the casual part of the playerbase who is very averse to change

Rush both sharing the same gem currency and the impression of it taking up box space means a lot of the playerbase prefers to avoid it entirely and focus only on speed

And i feel like the lack of talk on it only aggravates the deck further

Since the big content creators in dl (and md to some extent) focus almost exclusevily on deck replays and datamines

The subreddit is basically a giant pile of saltposting about how X deck is too strong

There's also a Friend Campaign going on to get a Blue-eyes Structure Deck if you enter an active player's campaign code while also adding their Duelist ID as Friends. So you should have a ton of headstart to it.

Oh, and you're probably gonna want to pull from the Tachyon box for the Successor Soul UR if you're going all the way, but I doubt you'll be heading there just yet. You'd want to learn a bit about the deck first before committing gems to it.
