Ninja spinner fully revealed
Reset Stamp somewhat back
There's like 3 actually good cards in the set, Greninja being kinda sus, and then the rest of the pack kinda sucks
Oh right and Expanded Drago got another toolbox tool
Mass Tool Wipe, Mass Special Energy Wipe, and access to high poison damage
Holy
Finally, the rarest card in the set, Pokepad
I love the poke pad meme lol
Our wallets are in pokepain why are you laughing
(Thankfully they are in the prerelease kits)
My lgs has zard upcs for retail and I just keep deliberating it
I just look at a 120 price tag and think "i could buy like 3 sars im never going to hit for that"
This is the reason why when they first came out nobody was buying them lol
The 151 UPC was 89.99 retail (and even then, at the time they literally couldnât sell it)
That shit sold like hot cakes in the uk
Premium sets (151, prismatic, dream) always sell out over here because we know its just a bonus on top of buying the packs at retail
Its the main set collections that dont sell as well
I sold a bunch of my modern stuff after realizing I enjoy collecting stamps more than anything
Look at these little guys
Honestly, Id snag one just to have sealed. The Zard X promo alone cover 25% of the value and itll only go up from there
And like the old Zard UPC or the 151 UPC, itll def go up over time out of nowhere
Don't like sitting on product
Fair, but Id def recommend picking up the promos sooner rather than later
Iâm so hype, I just picked up a legend maker stamped wynaut, Tangrowth lvl x and a holo pidgeot from holon phantoms for $50
Honestly, super happy to get it now too. It feels like one of those SIRs that will be bought out and never come down ya know

Oh shit pokepads
Probably my last few pickups for a bit
Apparently people are checking their opponents poke pads when theyre losing to make sure theyre not from perfect order đ
Technically Perfect Order wont be legal until 2 weeks after the sets release (April 10th iirc)
So people are trying to ruke shark due to that
But I thought what matters is the card name even if the set isnt legal
At least thatâs the justification for cards that were printed a decade ago with different effects
Name and effect are all that matter
Even then, there are technically some cards on the errata list too like Super Rod
Nah judges have ruled you cant use perfect order pokepads
Thats fair tbh
Not even the judges wanted to rule this
TPCI had to rule this and then inform judges to enforce this
This hobby is so fried
Getting into pokemon because my son is interested and I want to support it
Picking up some stuff to learn with is fine but recent battle decks being scalped 60$ above their msrp is crazy work
You can make the battle decks yourself for a lot cheaper, its mainly due to the exclusive art rare the decks have
Most competitive decks right now are less than $50
ok whats your recommended resource for lists? We also dont need super optimized yet, just his first locals
Tbh the base cost for comp decks are cheap af so going for optimized decks isnt that far off from casual decks
Limitlesstcg is a place for decklists and meta share
Here's one of the most effective "bang for your buck" decks right now
Limitless is general is the gold standard for PTCG results
And you can easily import decks into TCG Live to get some virtual testing done without buying cards
well comp pokemon is actually a lot more interesting than I initially thought
It is legit "you have access to your entire deck, how are you sequencing and anticipating" the game
yep, game is a lot more interesting but also has a lot more unmitigatable luck which does get annoying at times
Yup, its got its own skill curve for sure. But sometimes you prize your entire evolution line and you just want to die lmao
Prize cards are really my only main complaint of a mechanic for the game. Like I wish I could just see them at the very least rather than needing to spend 2 solid minutes on my 1st search.
prize cards and coin flips being baked into playable cards are my biggest complaints
yeah prize cards are just an old system that i guess they dont wanna get rid of at this point
i think it makes sense that the pocket version just went with score points for knockouts instead
Ya, Prize cards existed before the Shield system from Duel Masters where the player receiving damage would get them in order for the winning player to not snowball. Its unfortunately a dated mechanic but it is what it is.
Iirc its mainly staying because you'd have to change a lot of card text and with how searcher heavy pokemon is it would encourage more one ofs for counter play... granted that's already happening and people just eat the variance
is there a community platform like db to play pokemon online?
pokemon live seems pretty shit ngl
Not really unfortunately, most people just grin and bear ot with Live
You can kill the man
But not the idea (this is much worse though lmao)
My ass still playing festival lead because I do not give a fuck about dragapult I'm killing his ass with an apple
Hello I would like 1 Gholdengo with no drawpower
(Itâs ok Honch we still love you more than Zam)
lobster too buttery steak too juicy head ass
Guys is garde dead?
You could probably make a decent mega garde list but its not gonna be the same
Its fighting's and grass' turn to get the energy acceleration apparently (not like it hadn't been already but we move)
Psychic now is gearing towards âthrow as many Clefairy as possible at Pult and outspeed their setup.â
And the best accel engine that people have put up for this is Ogrepon + Grass/Eswitch and Crispin.
Budew just makes starting with Wondrous Patch that bad
âWhat about Zam?â
What about Zam?
Me playing festival lead genuinely not giving a damn what my opponent does because their mega/ex is eating 300 damage a turn from 1 prizer

(They will bosses order my thwacky and I will eat an egg and die)
Zam
Steel having a Grass resist is finally paying off
Just got a box of destined rivals for msrp
Nice!
Round 1 at locals just played festival lead vs a kid who was using just random stuff he pulled
I felt so bad
Welcome back greninja break
Itâs as bricky as Greninja break thatâs for sure
Dragapult and starmie are now just always looking for victims
"Play shaymin and pray I dont get my munkidori out or die dickhead"
Greninja megaâs big problem is that there is no Dragloak to make it worth it over Pult
And its a 3 prizer
-
Has 2 attacks, one with a conditional damage boost
-
Second attack can automatically KO Pokemon
Close enough, welcome back Roaring Moon ex
Moon at least had Sada
Heck moon was at least splashed in lost box
Triple dark sucks to attach up cuz it kinda requires Janine or Toxtricity
2 for easy 220âs not bad if we ever get a prominent psychic deck again
Honestly, if Darks 2 Weaknesses werent so good rn, I think Toxtricity Dark Box would be viable
Either Teal Mask food or Lucario food
Gorgeous card I found at the flea market today
Why is pokemon TCG such a money machine rn? Has it always been this way?
And I mean old cards and especially packs being worth top dollar
Is it a bubble
Who knows
You donât see a bubble and even there are signs itâs impossible to know for sure
As an econometrician you should know
Wow, just like tournament cedh
It's simple
Pokemon TCG is a fad, people collect and speculate future prices
People lose interest overtime, and once this begins to become recognized, either a massive selloff will happen or it'll gradually decline with bag holders
Itâs not that simple
Pokemon right now is in a hype train that I dont see ending any time soon, it will only end when the community collectively agrees that the cards are now no longer interesting/valuable
Functionally right now they're essentially thousands of different currencies without a standard. It's all held up by collective belief in the idea the cards are worth a certain amount of money, and the debates aren't about if the cards as a whole will crash, it's about if individual cards or product will
Also, the 30th anniversary coming up is going to be gas on the fire as it were
Yeah, any âbubbleâ that should have popped, missed its chance
I also think if the market ever settles, it will be on the ridiculous prices of modern stuff, vintage and mid era shouldnât be affected much
My bets on the ascended heroes stuff
There is 0 reason for the gengar and tree pikachu to be over a grand
Forget ascended heroes, prismatic is literally being printed to the ground rn and itâs still selling out everywhere and doing not much to the prices of singles
Also, if I may say, I despise that set so much, the pull rates are so ass, and it just feels like scalpers buy it for the sake of FOMO
Theoretically a bubble can last as long as forever, as long as the collective decides it
The fact that itâs only grown during a time where people have less disposable income is pretty impressive

30 damage with 50 more for each bench pokemon with damage counters on it for 1 energy
Psychic so lillies clefairy works, super effective against lucario, risky ruins exists...
Yep, I'd buddy buddy poffin
I'm shiny hunting mewtwo in yellow on og hardware
So far on 172 SRs
Got really close here
If the def were 145 it would have been shiny
Budew can no longer hurt us
There is a stadium too
Whoa
they made an entire archetype that can't be hit by phantom dive, noir, or munkidori
Despite that, the main wincon of the deck is still messed up by Munkidori removing damage from the board
Went to a card show, got my grail
I want to get off Mr Bone's Phantom Dive
(Context: All of top 4 at LA regionals is Pult)
Ban incoming plox
(50% of day 2 of LA regionals was Pult)
what's jarring is I'm not even sure a ban actually makes the format feel better
Pult is dominating but it's not really gatekeeping anything, it's just way more consistent and Phantom Dive is that good of a move
The rest of the meta?
RPS anarchy
newest Pult build in the meta?
The Pult Sparce build, but now with Crushing Hammers to force mirrors in favor off random
I don't know if pokemon's just stuck in a rock and a hard place rn.
Nothing's on Pult's level of good but we just came off a stale format of good decks
People are coping Mega Greninja but at best it looks like Pult with more explosive plays and no Recon Directive
And so far I don't feel that confident in much from Abyss Eye / Pitch Black
Bastiodon is likely a pre-release kit
God how in the hell do I make this usable
5 energy minimum and dies to mega lucario
And Cynthias garchomp damn tf did my boy do
Lightningâs only accel to charge that up would be either Magneton or Eels
Hit and run style with Crustle/Ogrepon Rock?
Way too many pieces at that point
How lucky you feeling?
The coin flips ainât the problem lol
If Audino gets KOd youâre working with 1 Zeraora the whole game
just dont get bosses ordered
The audino in the active after it attacks:
Getting the Akira Egawa treatment means you get good art
i love him
Beeeg headbutt
Coribu boss orders
Immaculate taste
Just picked them up today. They look so clean
Side note: Amazing that the 1st League Cup I have ever actually topped was the one I went into without any prep lol
Never change pokemon tcg quality control
YOU CANT DO THIS TO ME
MY SYLVEON PAGE ALREADY COST ME NORTH OF A GRAND WHAT DO YOU WANT
Card is actually gonna be like 2 grand im gonna be sick
Oh god rip
Yes, we will be praying to god for good rips
Holy shit new hungry clicker art
Getting rid of slabs at the official event is an objectively good thing, but this is what sticks in my mind:
At a recent card show, I spoke to an enterprising 11-year-old, Rob D., who had taken over an abandoned vendor booth to sell cards. He told me he'd been vending for the last year and only bought product from Pokemon vending machines at MSRP. When I asked if he played the Scarlet & Violet games, he said no. He also said he'd never watched the TV show.
"I just flip cards," he said. "I don't know much about Pokemon." He added that he learned about Pokemon investing from watching influencers open packs on TikTok and Instagram, calling Pokemon cards "the best investment right now."
I fing hate the modern social media landscape jfc
Itâs genuinely the worst
Iâve never wanted a market to crash as badly as I want PokĂ©mon to crash
Yeah the future rare art sucks so far.
The regular alts are really good yea
Memory Helix letting you copy benched attacks is gonna be interesting for game momentum, but a 2-prized that squishy kinda questionable
Also I donât Ike the psychic symbolâs smug aura
Itâs supposed to be mist around the energy but it just looks like it is judging you
