But I’m personally much *less* excited about Tarkir coming out because Rage and Beans are still legal.

when the winrate of domain declines beanstalk is obviously not a problem

Beanstalk is an inherently problematic design space (since it just encourages cheating out big cards) and it's only ever gonna get better

Winrate isn't the only reason for a card to get banned. Unfun play patterns and oppressive gameplay have been reasons in the past too

And Beans leads to a lot of unfun play patterns since it already nets even on play but then the rest of your deck cantrips all game

But also "we wanna see what the new set is gonna do" is a really shitty excuse to not ban cards

When the three month schedule pretty much always means a new set is coming out right around the banlist

Beans not getting banned sucks, but it's whatever

But the three month banlist schedule is just proving to not work

We have the technology that a banlist can come out whenever now and not just an arbitrary window

One conundrum I have is when designing the cube, how many dragons should I put in? Dragons are naturally very powerful and I don’t want this to be a bomb cube but tarkir is synonymous with dragons

t2 mana drain into ramp is a big tempo swing, but even later in the game you can get some ridiculous 10 mana swings off countering a 5 mana spell
