$30-40
[[cyclonic rift]] is another insanely good card that is also expensive
theres also [[force of will]]
[[deadly rollick]]
good cards
somewhat expensive
rollick not as much but meh
not as needed
the big one is definitely mana drain, cyclonic rift, and force of will
and then of course
fetch land mana base
is this not in urza as
precon
i swear i own this card
let me check when I get home
mabye I own some of these cards
if you have it
go ahead and play it
card is strong in casual
but if you dont, it is an expensive card

yeah
and that's where today's sponsor comes in, cardkingdom.com!
did you use the shipping optimizer tool thingy?
The optimizer should take shipping into account anyway
no this was before optimizing it
i just needed this as
ss
cause it was so funny
ye lol
i’m also not ordering everything online
so it should be even less shipping
is there an easy way to go thru card store and look for cards u need
if they have like binders and boxes
or is it just gonna be tedious
I think it depends on the LGS
they have boxes of color
and than binders is like 1$ up
so i will look thru binders first I think
than just go thru blue and black boxes
I want your guys opinion. Selling my cards to get a 3D printer?
Bruh
I could use the money for both a printer and/or FL Studio
Are you good at programming at least?
I’m going to learn
Oh
The music production software yea
Island
If you can figure out how to sell a couple things 3D printing then the printer will be much more effective
Pringles can deck box with curved deck slot
A… wut
You can I guess lol
Kenrith reprint in the SL surely
But some things I remember people buying are stuff like pins
Pins, commander accessories, deck boxes
I’ll probably print deck boxes for my case
Those would be about 12 hours of printing and half a spool
Actually probably less
The gearbox I had took about 12 hours and it’s pretty big
I only need like 3 more deck boxes
They’ll be about the size of ultimate guard boulders
Because my case only holds boxes about those size effectively
I was looking into getting the Ender V2 or V3 SE tbh
Can’t remember what the difference between the two are but ender v2 is a good home use one
Fair, I don’t know much tbh
@sleek ferry i forgot to send u the list but this is what i've been testing in timeless. i did make an edit to play a single chthonian
Oh yeah ty. I was meaning to try it and test cthonian if anything, this saves me the trouble of going through the initial testing
Mail day
XD
owning up to my mistakes 😔🍑

If Modern Horizon sets make formats unplayable for months, every time they drop. Maybe we should stop doing them.
Behold the take of all time
I mean, I can get where he's coming from
But he's also overreacting
We are 2 for 3 for Modern Horizons sets outright breaking Modern
It's because all three have been mega pushed, but WoTC needs enfranchised modern players to buy new cards
There's a lot of good designs in each modern horizons set
I’m honestly just extremely annoyed that the people that are the loudest about the state of modern, don’t even actually play modern tbh
But the pushed cards have all been mega pushed
The solution isn't "stop printing MH tho"
It's just "dial the power back on MH cards"
Im praying that HMV doesn't drop my preorder for the squirrel deck because I am not paying more than retail for a bad tribal deck
acting like the entire set was a mistake because of one broken card is really throwing the baby out with the bathwater imo
literally this
lol
Yeah it's not the entire set, but all three have had some problem cards
It's mostly tho they just need to tone down the problem cards each time
Modern players: “oh new toys! Also the meta is more interactive, I like it”
Non-modern players: “modern is dead and horizons has killed it, there’s no interaction!”
That’s really how things looked before and rn
Also, once the meta settles we not only see an extremely diverse meta, but old decks pop up again
These same people don’t know that Nadu isn’t dominating MTGO challenges to the same degree and are grasping at the PT results as a way to validate their point
It’s like people saying if they win game 1 they should win the match
Legit had people tell me that
My only issue with mh3 is it should not have had a commander set of stuff
Do you guys think Nadu is still on the chopping block in modern? I don’t keep up enough to know and don’t want to assume
I’ve always stuck to my guns on the regard that hitting shuko probably pushes Nadu down enough without hitting it
As it adds an extra mana for the combo
There’s what, 3 total equip 0 equipment?
Leather armor and Umbral Mantle
Idk the legality of those two
Nadu is way more of an issue in the future tho
Hitting Shuko is fine I guess, but [[Nomads en-Kor]] also exists
And you can still saga into stuff like [[Lavaspur Boots]] which is admittedly slower
Nadu also causes design problems down the line tho
So I dunno why it's not easier to just take out the problem card and call it a day
Basically hitting Shuko slows but not fully eliminates the problem?
Hitting Shuko becomes "let's hope this card doesn't become an issue again later"
Also personally seeing shuko on the banlist sounds really embarassing lmao
Hitting Shuko puts Nadu in line with where most other decks can deal with it. The impact of needing an extra turn to get the combo going is bigger than you guys think
It sounds like Konami logic hitting Shuko imo but that’s none of my business
Yeah I think hitting shuko does feel very konami logic
How quick is modern at the moment? Like how many turns to decide a game
I see
Also I can't see Shuko ever being a problem card anywhere else
cephalid breakfast
there shouldnt be cards that cost 0-1 and equip for 0
without a huge restriction like leather armor
what gets me about nadu is this thing looked fuckin insane out the box. hogaak maybe you could look at it and say "oh that's a fun casting cost" but nadu just had so many fuckin ways to make it balanced that they didn't take
Funny thing, initial thought was the card was bad
And then we read the card a second time
And then we remembered shuko
was it really even bad on first read? at very minimum we thought it was [[ivy, gleeful spellthief]] adjacent with a strong effect stapled
and a 3 mana 3/4 flying body is pretty decent already
Bonus cards for the Monty Python SL
apparently neheb's fate is TBD, according to the original dude who released the clarification @golden plover
Also this is just wrong. All the reveal threads are talking about how he's mega fucked
The very first time we read it here and other spoiler channels it was mostly “you get value when it gets removed but it’s mid” and then everyone started seeing the synergies
By first impressions I mean when most people misread the card in the first place lol
I guess that's fair, but I think the general consensus is that Nadu was fucked from the start
Yeah I remember a lot of people thought it only triggered off spells and made their assessment that way
Just had someone [[Defabricate]] my fetch?
I assume it's probably because Stifle is a rare WC and people play sub-optimal stuff when they're out of WCs (Arena economy is beyond fucked)
hey stupid question
is there an easy way to print out a decklist from moxfield
that has colours and stuff
so I can look for cards at my ots really easily
and not just go by name?
best I got was this but this didnt have the colours
like I can get to this so I can check off but will I just have to manually put the colours in?
just screenshot it and print it/save it?
The matchup vs azorius control is so satisfying
Prerelease tomorrow 😄
society if they had printed [[golgari death swarm]] in mkm
[[nighthawk scavenger]]
love this card
same, card was so good
I really hope [[Adanto Vanguard]] is in foundations btw
He's not like crazy strong, but he's always fun in standard and he leads to really interesting combats
I hope a lot of the cube all stars are there
Especially the section of white 2 and 4 drops
Red 3 drops too
True, would be nice if the set is basically a low power cube

Sorcery
After the first postcombat main phase this turn, there's an additional combat phase followed by an additional main phase. At the beginning of that combat, untap all creatures that attacked this turn.
Rebound (If you cast this spell from your hand, exile it as it resolves. At the beginning of your next upkeep, you may cast this card from exile without paying its mana cost.)
understandable why this one's the exception
Yo Neheb is safe!
Also, I was really confused why my friend was in the "post your reply" thing for a second
Yeah, I literally posted it in a discord they're in and saw their pfp right above it
nice
Took me way too long to do it this season but
Lmfao
This is like the second or third time they've done this
I assume these guides are done very late and rushed out because like... Anyone proof reading this would see the issue
otters love oil, just check how they deal with oil in the ocean- oh wait
Cave Johnson: "what do you mean they don't like it and are actively trying to get rid of it? We spent so much money on this that we should've declared bankruptcy yesterday! Is there at least a picture of them looking somewhat neutral about it? No? What do I hire you idiots for!"
"Support your mousefolk with equipment"
Oh I didn't even notice that
there are only 5 equips in the entire set, 3 at uncommon and 2 at rare
oh true i forgot about mabel
still though that's very misleading as to what the mosue archetype does
one's boros archetype was equipment
Yeah it's probably that they didn't change it much from copy-pasting
I was trying to see if the wording was "support the rebels with equipment" or something tho
Multiple cards match “Mable”, can you be more specific?
[[Mable, heir]]
No card found for “Mable, heir”
Haven’t seen this many greased up otters since -
okay it's five equips: two uncommons, one uncommon that makes a token, one rare, and one rare that makes a token
six if you include sword of fire and ice which is a special guest card
I wouldnt count it. Sure, you can draft it but it's very unlikely
Also to be fair this is not the complete sentence, the combat tricks red has this set is kinda nuts in limited
Iirc they have a one sided fight
Rip it on stream right now
pull some good shit

Has Magic been power crept so much that a 2024 Standard deck beats a 2014 Modern deck? Richard battles 2014 Modern Jund against Seth on 2024 Standard Orzhov Midrange to find out!
Today's video is brought to you by Card Kingdom. You can pick up some Magic: the Gathering cards (and help support the show) at https://www.cardkingdom.com/mtggoldfish...
Damn, hosed
Oh it's a box
12 packs at around £250... That's about £20 a pack, 5 rares per pack, that's £4 a rare. Not a bad rate considering play boosters are £6-7 and you can get premium treatments
Unfortunately the set just lacks value
It's cute, it's going to sell well, but no cards in it are above £15 even now
Yeah got Gitrog reprint and some other critters.
yeah most likely. still going to prerelease tho
I didn’t pull a single Maha and I wanna make him my commander lol
Do I go for a third?
Adam pls maha is less than £10
Ye I like going to pre release regardless
Let the man spend his lawyer money
Buy
The
Single

I suppose it is supporting his lgs regardless
No his legs will give out
Buy an otj collectors and send me all your big score cards Adam
I just looked at whats still gonna be in standard
I thought more sets were rotating out
Like dang 10 sets are gonna be in Standard with Bloomburrow release
That sounds messy

None here kid sorry
Oh okay I will buy it
The face of a man that went for number 3
I don’t wanna be judged in this channel

Too late
looks nutty but keep in mind that this is a bunch of ppl playing shit typal decks and crokeyz playing a real deck
tho i do think that this deck has strong plays vs good decks too
I agree. it needs to be taken with a grain of salt, but rakdos as a shell is already decent and I think the wezl is a 3-drop that must be answered before it drops a carnosaur for free
all that said if aggro is hurt decently by rotation then I like this deck's chances even more. I'm not sure I'd make the exact same card choices but there's a lot of good stuff
What do you guys think of the commander precons btw?
Let’s just say I found out that the raised foils are not in each collector box
Thought they were lol
I'm getting the group hug one after all cause it turns out gluntch has a lot less synergies than I initially thought
they seem solid
Yea bant group hug seems the best in terms of options
well for that it depends which playstyle you like tbh
Just picked up these 2 at locals today
sadly could not find a Gluntch in the monster manual-esque style, but its ok
fair point
glunch is apparently best at king making
kwain is perfect for handing out knives in the right order
?
Zinnia with dockside
And cards that grab dockside
Also bumbleflower has a couple infinite storm combos in that color
Decent options to think about
oh
I don't really see that with kwain, isn't he just everyone draws but I draw harder
gluntch it depends how you wanna play it. I usually use him to boost the player who's doing the worst while convincing the table I'm not a threat
this is where i get the knives comment from btw
I've seen that video before but I'm still not quite sure what he means lol
kwain is best for group hug where you want to win
glunch best for helping
the last one is best for doing whatever
throwing both into bumbleflower
tbh maybe
I think bumbleflower will become the new best with the synergies she promotes and the fact that you can choose who gets the draws
exactly
She definitely is. Rest of them feel too gimmicky
do you mean out of the bloomburrow precon commanders or the group hug commanders
Group
Alright backpack all ready for prerelease tomorrow. Packed dice, deckbox, a pen and notebook (aka lifepoint tracker OR tokens), enough sleeves to sleeve up a 40 card deck plus many extras, water bottle if I get thirsty, cash for sign up, and my playmat.
Ballin. I'd also bring a binder with cards you wanna trade if you have any
man I feel like I just completely glossed over some cards on reveal
These were the foil pulls from 3 collector boxes. I only bought 3 cause I thought the raised foils were a guarantee
@sleek ferry @atomic harness @rigid scarab
Aside from that I got 2 borderless Tree Cities and 1 regular foil so that’s neat to get rid of.
Ayo ocelot pride shot up in price what happened
I know the borderless foil is like 100
Btw the real star of box 3
So long as you're supporting your lgs ig
lol i was gonna stop at 2 but i stupidly thought there was raised foil in all of them. didnt realize i just got lucky getting 2 in 2 haha
also its randomly $20 here
Cringe
Me buying my cards from Spain because for whatever reason they're cheap as shit there
Iirc infamous cruelclaw is like £6 in Spain rn
base is like $14 foil is like $20 lol
but it is presale so it might go down but magic is more resilient so idk
There's a lot of good cards I think are undervalued in bloom burrow right now, cruel claw isn't one of them
yeah usually happens where random stuff shoots up. I think the seasons are way too cheap
btw looking at the raised foils and now I want Gev and Baylen lol
the bear is dope but expensive af
The bear is one of those cards I think is cheap af rn and I have no clue why
A lot of green decks want it
Which bear?
oh i was just looking at the raised foil its like $235. Borderless is like $45/$55, $15, $40, and the regular is like $10, $14
Lumra
I was going to build an analyst deck and the bear was like $40
I’m still seeing 40-50 on that
Lumra is £5 here
Bruh give
are all the commanders in raised foil or just hazel?
All should have one iirc
oh tcg only has hazel
The bunny one definitely has one from memory
Huh some are JP only?
Cringe
Happy that people are recognising that pollywog prodigy is the best new commander cards
Him and eruth is an obvious synergy even in casual that I can see people pushing him out of tables
Flubs is one of those commanders where you can't read it and assume the player using it will be doing fair things with it
Like if you rock up with flubs to a casual game I'm expecting war crimes
Same for cruelclaw
oh finally bloomburrow gameplay that isnt the commander decks

Cruelclaw is interesting, idk if I prefer it as turbo naus or big stuff reanimator
all ive seen is turbo naus lol
Yeah, she lends well to reanimator since you can discard a fatty to reanimate or just flip into it
heh cruelclaw is in the vid i linked
I love the art on this
is there a easy and kinda decent deck that will be good after the format switches in mtga? i kinda wanna try mtga again but idk what to build
i dont have that many cards
or wildcards
but idk
same not a fan of the showcase variants on this one or the rest of the beasts
which format are you playing
this is what I have
idk what would u reccomend
standard seems the most common
so probaly that
well if you want a decent standard deck you'll want to wait until bloomburrow settles and everyone thinks of decks to play
for a good cheap deck there will probably still be a version of mono red aggro rocking around
https://mtgazone.com/standard-rotation/ also you can see this for rotaion
are any blue / dimir/ azorious/ simic decks cheap and good
those are my favorite colours normally
And then duskmorn will be out

yeah
(why is there less than a month between standard sets)
this is why I don't play standard
a format constantly evolving is good if evolutions have a healthy time between them
It's crazy that Alchemy gets old rotation and Standard doesnt
The extra year of rotation doesn't really seem like it helped standard tbh. Just kept the annoying cards in there longer
Card is good in like 3 different modern decks
Turns out a stacked 1 drop with 5 lines of text is strong
is it more worth to open packs u need mythic from or rare from
i have 15 rare wc and 7 mythic
i need 20 rares and 6 mythic
there are 2 sets I need 3 rare 3 mythic and 1 set I need 8 rare 0 mythic
i assume open the set with 8 rare and 0 mythic?
for mtga
if you're looking for a specific rare in arena then it is more worth it to open packs that have that card
for mythics it isn't worth it because mythics are a lot rarer
ok
and i already have all the mythic wild cards I would need
ok
also another stupid question, is this legal in standard? i was following a list that said standard legal but had this card in it, i am confused because it seems to be from kaldesh which I dont think? is a standard set
that is legal in standard because it was reprinted in thunder junction
Nah, you can use a copy from any set
Speaking of legal, just found out [[Coalition victory]] is modern legal
How are we turboing a win with this and Leyline
are simic cookies still in post rotation? that seems like a decent budget simic deck
ik tough cookie and zoetic glyph are which are big for the deck
thats what im playing!!
its really fun
i know almost nothing about magic
but its super super super super fun
and like it feels good
i know I cant really judge
yeah still seems good
idk if there are any new tools, probably not
how do u open like the big picture of the deck in mtga?
heres what I was using
i should be running 4 botanical sanctum
but i ran out of rare cp so on 2 more basics of each
[[hard-hitting question]]
is the format where this deck is popular popular format irl?
i kinda wanna try to play this irl
it seems cheap
only like 100$
This deck would really only work in Standard
It's probably not likely you've got a standard scene, but if you do, it's good there
Man it is hot as balls in my lgs rn
Speaking of good decks, this one does everything
Crazy how when all your cards cost 2 mana and do a billion damage you just win
how would I know
just like check ots?
You can check in their official app and there's a store locator on their website
Both should tell you if there's any standard events
Otherwise I guess you just gotta ask
Damn bloomburrow really do be a set where I care more about the rares than the mythics
Do note the official app is shit and crashes and constantly doesn't show events lmao
you don't even need to download companion, just look up "mtg event locator"
Yeah honestly that's better
I literally only use companion for events where I've gotta
And even then it sucks half the time
I just use it to sign in then use it as a life tracker lol
Its not a pre-release if companion doesn't crash and we have to start manually updating the bracket
Literally every pre-release has had companion crash, so my LGS has to get the bracket running on their own after like round 2
Stonks
is modern standard?
No, modern is a different format
no modern is another format
oh
Is standard commander
Standard is Standard
yeah everything near me is commander
if it doesn't say standard sometimes it'll say enchantress night for those who are nb or women
but yeah for standard if you're not in a big city you might need to expand your search
Ngl, paper anything but commander is struggling
I'm in a big city and we only get standard running twice a month
Modern once. Pioneer once. And anything else is non-existent
Commander night every Tuesday and Saturday tho
Biggest city in the state here and is still he driving an hour for Standard
But also, Arena really killed any reason to play paper standard
(Outside of it being cheaper in paper half the time and LGSes having leagues with prizes)
I was gonna say post-rotation standard might be cheap enough we'll see it running again
But.... Post rotation standard still has DMU
Ain’t no way 💀
The fucking 3 year system
DMU is legal until next summer
ONE MORE YEAR SHEOLDRED
Actually wanna know something fucked up?
SNC and Midnight Hunt are currently still standard legal
They rotate with Bloomburrow
But it feels like SNC has been in standard FOREVER
This rotation is Kamigawa, SNC, and the Innistrads
Next is DMU, BRO, ONE, MOM, and Aftermath
my town has three locals and it looks like two of them have modern events fairly often
also i'm glad that alchemy will soon no longer have sheoldred
one format will be saved
it's okay golgari landfall will save the format
It's so weird alchemy uses the regular standard rotation timeline
iirc they kept the old schedule for alchemy because they wanted to further differentiate it from standard
that's exactly why yeah
What I don't get is why standard is rotating on 3 years in general tho
Isn't the biggest complaint with standard that it already feels really stale? Adding another year doesn't help it feel less stale from what I understand
I feel like the majority of complaints I hear about standard are "format has felt the same for the past year +" from people who play
I know rotation sucks, but I wouldn't expect an extra year of sets in standard to fix the same feeling format issue
yeah but the issue isn't keeping the people who play happy, it's to get more people to play in the first place
There's really not any winning with that one then, is there?
Well at least with paper
probably not but that's what they were trying to do with the schedule change
ppl who are playing standard rn
are gonna do so basically regardless
so
try and appeal to more players to grab them
Correct, I’ll keep playing standard regardless of what they do
Also I wouldn’t say the format has been the same
If anything, OTJ shook up the meta a good amount
Commander is so chill
bunnies acquired
Now build it as an aggro deck because she gives you card draw
fellas... I think I wanna try to make [[perch protection]] work
Instant
Gift an extra turn (You may promise an opponent a gift as you cast this spell. If you do, they take an extra turn after this one.)
Create four 2/2 blue Bird creature tokens with flying. If the gift was promised, all permanents you control phase out, and until your next turn, your life total can't change and you gain protection from everything.
Exile Perch Protection.
gift an extra turn is a genuinely fuckin wild line of text, but I can definitely see scenarios where you give it to the last place player to either put them back in the game or the extra turn doesn't even matter because they're so behind
it's 100% not best in slot but I imagine the reactions to this card will be hilarious
oh no hes cooked
damn right I've cooked 🔥
he is cooked
Ramp 17 cards
Lands 38 cards
Perch Protection 1 card
Creatures 45 cards
someone who is good at the game please help me fit in propaganda, please help my deck is struggling
Don't fit in propaganda
Wait why does your deck have 45 creatures
Is this a shitpost
yes
man I wanna use this new art of tamiyo field researcher but I don't really have a deck for her lol
[[Ugin's Nexus]]
I promised you a free turn, I didn't say you were actually getting it
Well I’m equally pilled sadly
I think rakdos lizards might be something in standard…
well the deck actually does really want to run [[trouble in pairs]] so it works
Enchantment
If an opponent would begin an extra turn, that player skips that turn instead.
Whenever an opponent attacks you with two or more creatures, draws their second card each turn, or casts their second spell each turn, you draw a card.
Together, they're greater than the sum of their rap sheets.
I see some promising cards in there, I'd like to see it tbh
I wanna see [[flamecache gecko]] as a bte adjacent card
Yeah this card is part of the reason I’m probably building lizards
But it sucks, because it means I now have no excuse not to craft cavern of souls
I feel like it's just a good card to craft all around lol. there's gonna always be a typal synergy to build for
shame Voldarin Epicure is rotating out
also apparently the fox in this commander deck is trying his hardest to get with ms. bumbleflower but she's oblivious
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SqMSqI_u0Os
This is the deck im most excited for

Oh hey
Man
I just opened a bloomburrow box and figured
There's nearly zero value in here
The most expensive base card in the set is $30
Then $23
And it just drops
yeah sounds about right
And these are prerelease prices
This is as high as it gets
Like that's staggeringly low
I picked up two precons today
The Red Green deck, and the Jeskai deck (didn’t pay money for that one so bonus)
Idk this is the first core set box I opened where it just felt awful for me to open
be the trash lord you know you can be
welcome to the club buddy
What's the modern meta looking like rn
after euros I might pivot into just playing mtg physically
Pretty fun even with nadu being an annoying deck to play against
Energy is fun
Mono black is pretty fun too but wouldn’t recommend starting with it
how does energy play
Midrange
You can play aggressive and grind value with phlage while controlling the board with removal and maybe a board wipe here and there depending on your build
I’ve seen some lists go more aggro and some go into jeskai for control
okay that seems pretty cool
The red green deck had an error in the box
Does it?
Set is pretty ass, but has some cards with potential to spike up. I would say it’s MKM adjacent
It's at least more interesting than MKM and some of the cards are probably playable
Idk, at least in standard MKM is aging pretty well
New teysa is starting to see play for example
There are some interesting ideas for decks coming out of the set for sure but prices will be determined by how good decks coming from blb will be
Bloomburrow is gonna be one of those odd sets where it sells well despite having fuck all in it
Something hurting BLB is a lack of soyjack commander cards
Despite gifts
Well yeah, visually the set is top notch h
Also not a whole lot of cards that go into existing decks due to all the new tribal stuff
Instant
Gift a tapped Fish (You may promise an opponent a gift as you cast this spell. If you do, they create a tapped 1/1 blue Fish creature token before its other effects.)
Return target creature an opponent controls to its owner's hand. If the gift was promised, instead return target nonland permanent an opponent controls to its owner's hand.
This superdrop has like 0 value holy shit
sees infamous cruelclaw
Close enough, welcome back yuriko
I still wanna build the fox. Feels fun to cheat out Jin Gitaxias and draw 70 cards
Super drops had value?
Some of the older superdrops were worth it
Iirc, at the time the Halloween superdrop with stranger things was like $100 cheaper than getting all the cards
Wow this is ass besides the Bloomburrow one and maybe that last artist series.
The Brain Dead cards are genuinely super ugly
Sucks they've got the most value in the lair
How did everyone’s bloomburrow prerelease go?
I'm going to mine later today, I'll let ya know later
Mine went pretty bad, just opened a wide amount of decent stuff just spread too thin
Oof
Red and black was my strongest but was lacking in early removal and my overall presence in the game started sputtering out after turn 4
Ouch
Yea no by the time I got back every single prerelease kit sold except 1, and someone put that last one on hold for some reason
I was more annoyed with some random who never shows up putting it on hold vs it actually selling then and there
My lgs is straight up out of packs
Mine still has boxes
Some precons left
I think the RG and Jeskai decks sold the least, with Group Hug selling first followed by squirrels
My friend said the squirrel deck is kinda mid in use
With Bello and Zinnia being the dumbest
Squirrels is just kinda missing some of the stuff you’d like to finish with
End raze forerunners is a poor hoof substitute
Oh definitely
My friend added earthcraft and Deranged Hermit to the deck immediately
Generally it’s just a generic token spam deck, but since squirrels is incredibly niche it struggles
The jeskai one seems the most generic one
I would buy it bc they have it cheap but I have too many decks
Also generic
Might just buy the commander by itself later
The main thing the jeskai deck has is pollywog prodigy
[[Pollywog Prodigy]]
That’s pretty good
Also I didn’t realize how out of hand zinnia gets until I swung with it and a 6 power [[Jacked Rabbit]]
Zinnia was a like 13/3 flying before damage
Zinniai is wild
offspring on anything is interesting
its the one i wanna lab the most probably

I wanna eat them
The mice or the food?
For how hard they advertised mice as a creature type for bloomburrow, they sure didn’t print any with any real cohesion
At most Mabel enables the others with her equipment ig
Shame I would’ve liked a mouse deck
Both
Bro don’t they’re working so hard
Bloomburrow's push of tribal themes I think is gonna make the set kind of parasatic
Which may hurt it in the long run
So????????
I literally don't care

have you not seen boros mice? they're a pretty decent deck
perfect thing to learn magic for tbh
I am an edh player so sadly not something I can nor want to play
They make pies but what use are they if they keep getting their pies stolen
So just eat them
Yeah that's the thing
oh if you're edh only then ig that's something else lol
Bloomburrow doesn't give many things for EDH that aren't exclusive to bloomburrow
And since Bloomburrow is a low power set
you can run some of the mice that have valiant ig in equipment lol
Those new EDH decks are gonna be low power
I wonder how the limited environment is
The precons are pretty low power but the commanders are absurd in design
time to find out, going in 2 hours
Like I'm struggling to name like
10 cards in bloomburrow that commander players want
And in 2024 that's not a good look
At that point it’s just boros commander.deck though sadly
perch protection
didn't some commander players complain about power creep within commander too tho
I don't think every set needs to be a big addition to the format
Into the flood maw is still what I consider the best card in the set
And those sets are gonna pay the price
I think the squirrel commander and some of the cards are pretty solid tbh
Its main selling point in commander is that it's cute and children will like it
I’m mainly confused by some of the new squirrel commander stuff
well we'll see how much that carries lol
catering to a certain market can be big bucks
i think it's gonna carry it pretty well
Looking at cardkingdom the most expensive card is $30
And that's prerelease price
So that's as good as it's getting for a few months
[[moonstone eulogist]]
Creature — Bat Warlock
Flying
Whenever a creature an opponent controls dies, you create a Blood token. (It's an artifact with "
,
, Discard a card, Sacrifice this artifact: Draw a card.")
Whenever you sacrifice an artifact, put a +1/+1 counter on Moonstone Eulogist and you gain 1 life.
4/4
Why the fuck is this in squirrels
i've seen more people excited for bloomburrow than i have for any other set since ltr
That’s putting aside the fact it’s awful
¯_(ツ)_/¯
And like LTR
deck likes tokens and that's a token maker. probably why
It's being carried by flavour and theme
If LTR was repurposed to like
A kaldheim set or something
It wouldn't be nearly as well received
if ltr was set on dominaria nobody would give a shit about it
and ltr has 2 extremely format warping cards
Idk maybe I'm being too hard on the set bc my box was bad
But looking at ck I don't think there was any way for the box to be good
Even if I pulled like
Multiple three-tree cities
I wouldn't look at any set for making a profit, but if you really want money cards then mh3 is still probably where it's at
fetch lands alone are great to pull
I buy a box when a new set comes out for the pure enjoyment of it
Not looking to make a profit
If you super duper highroll a set you could get your money back
If you super duper highroll here
You make like
A bit over half the box
That's my point
tbh my biggest gripe with this set is the lack of a rare land cycle
even if it does include a really powerful land
that'd help with the overall box return too I imagine
Maybe it's time I look towards building a new deck
Yeah this is honestly dumb
I think they focused too hard on too many groups rather than making the groups have enough cohesion, it feels very spread thin with a few cards (the valley blankcallers and the dual typed ones) that merge the themes
The ones that got the best ride out of those is lizards and rats, the graveyard focus of rats helps keep you relevant in the late if the initial aggro of the lizards fail
Frogs and birds are in an odd spot, they care about bouncing to the point it damages their statlines, but don't have anything super great to bounce outside of the higher rarities, I'd say birds and mice also did decently, augmenting flies works as well as augmenting the mice
Bats and birds are... Kinda pathetic? They lack stats massively but evasion is always good, it's mainly the payoffs for gaining or losing life aren't great, still they have the best pick of removal
Almost forgot racoons, also a good pair for lizards, have some bigger creatures to supplement the late
Squirrels... Kind of exist? Their theme of food tokens/foraging in limited is hard to pull off
Still some have good value/stat lines
Otters as well, they rarely get to do anything funky but there are a few decent ones
True. I think the forage mechanic is going to be more useful with more cards to work with. Limited there’s like no food generation and no consistent way for recursion from exile
What do you think of the stuff like bloodroot apothecary and Three Tree City?
Three tree city is interesting, it's a sidegrade? But likely worse cradle, but I don't think highly of cradle to begin with (very much win more usually)
Bloodroot apothecary is a very funky card to read, but likely worse than just a stax piece that limits cards played per turn like rule of law
Mainly because it's a creature
Kill it and continue the combo
True
I was thinking of getting three tree for Minotaur tribal just because of the high mana curve
Averages 4,5,6
Like what was said above there’s not really much commander stuff I saw, but even then the set wasn’t commander dedicated right?
It's not a bad idea, might give you an extra play per turn
And another threat besides Didgeridoo
Not in particular
My friends now hate the didgeridoo
Do you play commander at all Jotlico or are you more into constructed?
This [[pollywog prodigy]] is the closest we have to something I think, though there's also a couple more interesting ones are like prosperous bandit, and agate instigator
Mainly commander, some limited
Draft and pre release
It is good fun, generally end up with a better deck than prerelease if you know how to read a pod despite the lower pack amount
See what colours are not being picked and leave yourself room to pivot to a different colour (not many multi colours) and it should be a good time
I do, it has the makings for it
2-1 in prerelease rn
Yeah probably the biggest removal check the set has
Maybe maha?
Maha might be more
Actually hold on, do we have anything that pings that can also hit creatures in this set?
I'm playing Boros
Could not remove the bear
And then he gave it trample and I died
There's some white removal but it would be difficult
I will look into getting a box then potentially
Last box I bought for drafting was unfinity because everyone wanted to draft it
Unfinity had an issue with the mechanics being silly yes... But not a fun silly, more of an unwieldy silly
No one got together so I just cracked it open
They knew, they thought it’d be fun
Then they got mad when I cracked it after waiting 3~ weeks
Bruh
Yea exactly
Hope you got a decent number of shocks
2 shocks
1 box topper and 1 in packs

Sacred Foundry was the topper and Godless Shrine was in packs
Sheesh that's rough
Should I play in my prerelease?
Never done one but I know how it works lol
I would they’re fun
Yeah pretty sure my lgs is all commander pilled anyways
So I might be able to sneak wins in
Got the squirrel one, haven’t received it yet, got it from a big box retailer so I won’t get it until the 1st at the earliest
Oh yeah had a precon match. Buddy bought two. He gave me the squirrel one. Ended up winning. Swarming the board and being able to play crazy mana is nice
The bat is crazy strong in it too lol since you crack treasures easy or Food
^ this thing lol
I got a boros deck that basically built itself for prerelease
Oof, I got the Jeskai and Gruul decks at prerelease
The gruul deck is dumb as hell
Like, nobody runs enchantment/artifact removal and during opponents turns the artifacts/enchantments are not creatures
It auto crews vehicles essentially so stuff like [[Thunderhawk Gunship]] are just free
Man
Faced my friend for the first time in a perelease, should have been a hype moment
get destroyed immediately as if I was playing vs krenko
Lizard aggro?
Selesnya
But he had a trampling rabbit with a ton of power and my deck had an average Boros moment
went 2-1 (really 1-1-1 cause I went into time helping a new player, but she was nice enough to give me the win for the pack), that was fun. all my matches were close
[[coruscation mage]] feels nuts if you have a high enough concentration of noncreature spells with aggro
[[fountainport bell]] feels like a fantastic card. color consistency with lategame draw
the fact that it's a 1-drop makes it fit really damn well into your curve
Oh cool [[Rage Extractor]] is broken rn in a way that makes it very good
It's gatherer text broke because it used to use {P} to refer for Phyrexian mana, and now uses {H}
But the string isn't there for {H}
So on gatherer it now just says "whenever you cast a spell with in its mana cost"
Meaning every spell

So until it's officially fixed, Rage Extractor does damage equal to the MV of every spell played
the more I look at it the better [[flamecache gecko]] looks
if you can reliably get a 1 drop on board this thing seems like basically bte. I'd even be tempted to run this in monored
not to mention it can loot if it's the last thing you cast that turn so the mana doesn't go to waste
The one drop in question that easily activates this in almost every situation [[iridescent vinelasher]]
Could go iridescent vinelasher turn 1, then turn 2 flamecache into fireglass mentor get the exile card for advantage?
There's hired claw as well
Not as good but something ig
Could also add rotcaller and flamecaller for extra damage? Feels a bit eh though
Flamecaller is cope iirc, one of them is cope
On second though hired claw doesn't get the most value out of it, since they need to attack in order to ping, the fireglass mentor will miss the exile top trigger for that turn
mm I feel like flamecaller is a decent damage amp on a body idk
There’s better cards and you only have so many slots
What was included in my prerelease box
flub
they just didn't attack for 3-4 turns then conceded when I played this???
I didn't even have wandering emperor mana???? lmao
gold is a trip
I'll take your entire stock
Welp time to start printing these
rich
How does blb draft feel so far?
pretty good so far i think
do not attempt to run more than 2 colors though
there's barely any mana fixing in the set
hmm maybe I play merfolk
Damn, that was the fear I had with forcing 2 colors into a draft set
i tried to play red white green and bricked in almost every game
Also you probably want to play UR wizards if you’re thinking of merfolk, I’d suggest trying a higher power deck first in modern for a better feel
You can absolutely splash colours provided you’re in green, have the good one drop artifact, the mole, the changeling that filters and or the filter land

lists with or without [[silvergill adept]]
I've been pilled on disliking the card but I just wonder why so many lists play it still
It's a 2 drop with okay stats that draws a card
Not like great, but it technically isn't bad?
it's also a 2/1 that draws in a bowmaster world
plus the stats for 2 mana kind of suck unless you already have a lord
It’s a fine card
so you're maybe playing this t3 instead of something you want to keep up like tidebinder or if you want to drop harbinger
Not really too consequential and it’s a merfolk
I got this new mat yesterday at locals

Jan: The Infamous Cruelclaw - https://www.moxfield.com/decks...
Jeez Eluge is wild
? How it reads incredibly tame
Eluge?
This is pretty sick, what’s the scene from?
Entire lair was fire
i knew arcane signet, greaves, and thought vessel was in it, what else was there?
No way you read eluge and thought to yourself that card was tame
he seems relatively mild paced, as in youre not going ham by turn 4 all the time? he gets big quick yea (starting at 3-4 p/t depending on how many lands you needed) and requires attacking once on table to really keep the snowball rolling to make the first instant or sorcery dirt cheap
4 mana 4/4 that discounts your spells progressively less
Doesn’t seem that great
Like not bad
But it’s got zero protection and the counters do fuck all if it goes down
I’d probably rather play mizzix for the red
[[mizzix]]
Multiple cards match “mizzix”, can you be more specific?
Not as big but it doesn’t just apply to the first spell either
[[eluge]]
Multiple cards match “eluge”, can you be more specific?
[[!Eluge, the Shoreless Sea]]
Sol ring
I think the big thing being overlooked is the U reduction
sure it does things worse than another card but also that is huge
im not denying that, my issue is it's a slow snowball due to wanting to attack to keep increasing the flood counters. yea you can use evasion but itll only work so much because you won't always have it
I mean as long as it doesn't die you can swing reliably
you don't need to connect, just to swing, so by turn 5 you should be able to start amassing them

glad to see that -1/-1 counters aren't off the table for new sets
animal mega-batch seems like it would have ridiculously long reminder text and fellowship seems kinda meh/confusing
holidays look like an interesting idea though
maybe busted in some places
maro put out an article that showed the reminder text for animals and i don't think it would fit on a card
it's like 50+ types
so this is my deck, its most likely crap
You quickly get free counterspells. It also applies for every turn, not just your own.
So you get 4 free spells per rotation.
one free counterspell, and itll either be dramatically reduced or free, depending on its cost
if its got U and generic costs, you can only reduce one or the other, if I understood the card right
Yeah. I put irenicus' vile duplication in. 2 eluges means UUUU is reduced.
I kinda like fellowship but i think it's got too much baggage
no jaheira with all those tokens?
Fellowship sounds cute, but the mechanic is clearly named Menagerie
Like I'm sorry R+D, the mechanic is called Menagerie
also llanowar loamspeaker is an interesting mana dork, is there a reason to run that when there's no other synergy with it making a land creature?
Ya know, I kinda wish [[Omnath, Locus of All]] didn't happen
Legendary Creature — Phyrexian Elemental
If you would lose unspent mana, that mana becomes black instead.
At the beginning of your first main phase, look at the top card of your library. You may reveal that card if it has three or more colored mana symbols in its mana cost. If you do, add three mana in any combination of its colors and put it into your hand. If you don't reveal it, put it into your hand.
4/4
I think it would have been cooler for Omnath to get normal black mana and not be compleated
Since now this one is gonna fuck up any future omnath plans too
Would have been way cooler to have Omnath get black mana as a "last resort" option against the phyrexians too
It's not like all of Zendikar was compleated, plane held off really well
it's okay just despark him after you decompleat him /s
And it's not like Omnath gained Colorless and became an Eldrazi during that arc, so it's weird he gets it here
Oh god I forgot about Nahiri's side story

(You may cast this spell for its overload cost. If you do, change "target" in its text to "each.")
: The next 1 damage that would be dealt to Nomads en-Kor this turn is dealt to target creature you control instead.

.
(You may pay an additional
can be paid with either
in its mana cost, Rage Extractor deals damage equal to that spell's mana value to any target.
.
