Make sure you're not getting soft reset from 6k, it's lengthy startup but if you block it's plus

without that, pressure does naturally stop with running out of resource or going for grab

so this is my theory of the special groups

defensive teleport looks like a 5U
group 1: tether, gravity ball, hammer strike (heavy), balls spam (ultimate)
group 2: machine gun, shotgun blast (heavy), beam (ultimate)
group 3: rekka variants (i can't tell if some of the slow multi slashes are normals or like alt variants of these, didn't see a heavy for this)

what i can't tell is together: dash attack, metered reversal, that bloody volleyball spike (this can't be a 66 surely), the robot curse (heavy)

Ik you only have exp in 2D but it's fine to not be an expert playing something for the first time
The biggest difference is high/mid/low rules
You default standing block as opposed to 2d crouch block
Highs get blocked standing and miss a crouching opponent
Mids get blocked standing but hit a crouching opponent
Lows hit a standing opponent but get blocked by a crouching opponent

the thing is like when i'm playing games like strive and versus pretty much i have to be looking up what something is doing because games vs a character will just feel like a mess, tekken just seems like it will be endlessly that given so many moves

like i go against belial in versus and i had to look up his moves because he has plus frames at points where characters normally shouldn't and it was just complete chaos to fight against him at first

having 100+ moves a character just seems like cases like that will just keep occurring

If you know one combo + it’s mix ups, you’re already better than 80% of the playerbase

The hardest part about Tekken is learning matchups tbh

Well, the practice tool is very in depth in terms of letting you know what’s safe, what’s punishable, etc

Moves that were plus frames in Tekken 7 are now not, move list changes to pretty much everybody

Rant time but I feel like I don’t know how to get better at strive

I feel like I’m the type of person who tries to play neutral because I don’t really know how to execute long and complex combo strings in a real match but I feel like every time I try to play the fair and honest neutral game I get comboed from full screen by sol/sin/x big damage character and just get deleted for 70%

Maybe I’m just ass idk but I feel like I’m incapable of dealing damage when it’s my turn

But yeah test risk reward can feel super iffy esp when they do actually get in and it's hard for test to play defence
Idt you're actually trying to play neutral with test though, it's a lot of pre-emptive keepout and sometimes cheeky 6H into stain wallbreaks

Test can do damage when you get a stain confirm though

Worst part is just the likes of Leo sticking to you

To be fair I think this is kind of an inherent issue with testament

An important skill to work on is learning when to play reactively vs proactively, especially if you’re controlling space

Testament has tools that are good for both

You also have to actually do some optimizations with testament for when you do open them up during your advantage states because damage is generally on the lower end
