This is such a non argument when it comes to recommending a character over another because again it boils down to just “why not play (best character) over any other character in the game. I personally just think avatar is cooler and that’s why I play him now (used to play actual og Belial in original gbvs), and it’s insane to just say you’re better off playing Belial in basically any context unless you’re just trying to say which character is better. They’re not similar and not worth comparing at all

Again if it’s all about viability why not just play nier again, because again they do nothing similar. Belial does not achieve the same thing as avatar because they’re not remotely similar characters beyond being the same person with similar animations. I said I just think he’s cool to explain why I picked him, not because he’s flashy or whatever. If you want a gameplay reason why I prefer him over regular Belial, he has the extremely unique capability in this game to force favored RPS from literally anywhere on the screen and an extremely high robbery potential that is basically unmatched except by like nier lol.
Like you keep saying just pick Belial he does the same thing when he literally just does not. Belial is basically a shoto with a command grab when avatar is basically a chipp function in a game that really isn’t intended to have a character like that

like he has bad midscreen combos, poor oki without meter, whilst a bunch of his normals and reach are good some of his moves are... not good cough non ultimate karma
also karma is a combo extender but its use outside of that is really limited whilst doing minimal damage and other characters have similar combo extending moves but with more use
also its only a combo extender when opponent is airborne usually which makes it worse at that since its limited
oh and also bad movement speed with teleport only being viable to use during oki (which as noted he isn't good at) or getting around moves but general movement not good
but yeah erm that con... whilst his combos are mad and he's a shoto with the best projectile in the game and other stupid characteristics

you're prob good to watch a season 3 video honestly, because they buffed deflect shield in the mini patch after, it's basically a push block that uses half your burst
and how burst works was changed too, deflect & assault use 50% for their mechanics
gold burst doesn't give u 100% meter anymore, it gives u positive bonus (like wallbreaking) which makes u recover meter & burst faster now
