There’s a brand new mechanic called “upblock” where you can like shift your block upwards on jump ins and FULL COMBO PUNISH them on block.
Mindgame is they can empty jump throw you or low you as there is recovery for going for it.
Flawless block is back but ONLY negates chip.

So to do a D-pad DP, I heard I can place my thumb on the lower half of the directional controller.
I press right with the upper half of my thumb, then down with the lower half, then down-right with the whole thumb. Then I press a punch button at the end.

He's a fairly difficult character since he got reverse beat

Character is best known as a lab time sink
But as far as actually playing the game, his neutral takes good fundamentals since he lacks unique neutral tools
But his pressure with a few level ups is wack
Iirc a few key aspects of his kit got nerfed
So, back at the start of DBFZ's life, Yamcha had a few key things going for him.
- one of the best assists in the game
- extremely powerful pressure tools
- arguably the best lariat in the game
- one of the best post-Level 3 oki
- good enough damage
(formatting hard)
As the game has developed and gotten DLC, though, his strengths have become less unique.
- After everyone had three assists to choose from, basically everyone had at least one good assist, and many characters had multiple viable options. There were now many more characters you could pick if you wanted an assist like Yamcha's, but wanted a better character than Yamcha.
- Other charcters have strong pressure tools, at least on par with Yamcha's.
- Yamcha's lariat was nerfed, and he's far from the only character with a good neutral skip/long range punish now.
- Other characters have strong post-Level 3 Oki, and the meta has shifted away from that being highly relevant.
- Yamcha's damage, especially for his meter expenditure, became less relevant as everyone's combos improved.
Furthermore, Yamcha has some clearly defined weakness in very difficult neutral and poor DHC damage. Other characters simply didn't have those weaknesses while still having many of the strengths Yamcha had.
Yamcha hasn't been routinely nerfed, but one of his biggest strengths was nerfed, and the buffs he got weren't enough to keep up with the game's power creep. Other characters just did his role better.

classic is traditional fighting game inputs
modern is new scheme which allows specials to be direction + buttons with a 20% damage penalty
it's also a 4 button control scheme as opposed to the classic 6 so some characters lose some normals
in modern you can input a special normally for full damage - e.g. there's no modern input for lily's wind stock so u charge it normally

There's so much mental stack in SF6. With drive rush, drive impact, throw loops, command grabs, perfect parries, Jump ins, empty jumps, dive kicks, reversals, invincible supers, instant overheads. And then you add Kurt Angle to the mix? Your chances of winning drastic go down.

Traditionally, you don't want Aohan point. His DP assist is great, and ideally you want to DHC into him so you bring him in with levels. I'm not familiar with what characters have DHC synergy with Aohan, but they tend to have long-duration active supers where Aohan can finish his Level 1 while the other super is still going, and then follow up with, say, a DR to get a knockdown.

Like compare Dans kick, where it transitions naturally from an angled position to fully stretched out close to the top of the kick
And then naturally goes back to an angled position as it goes back down
Vs MK where its basically a straight leg from low to the ground to the top and back

something i'm also going to comment on is the angle of the foot
dan actually looks like he's hitting with the top of his foot until he pulls it further back at the apex but the MK1 kick is just keeping the foot in the same position just rotating
though granted johnny boi is in shoes but yeah lack of movement in that foott is weird

it's not fair to compare modern Mortal Kombat animation to games like Guilty Gear or Street Fighter. MK is extensively mo-capped and doesn't cancel animations the way those games do, which means we should be talking about how it animates worse than Virtua Fighter 2 from 1994
