well the issue i encountered after hitting union level 30 is that because the overworld content levels with you, having underleveled characters makes even exploration a PITA

the trial character you get that that syncs to your level is an absolute lifesaver

also, if i want to get through the recurring content soon, i don't really have the liberty of choosing only the ones i wanna play, since i need multiple teams for stuff like ToA

so basically every character that doesn't suck really bad needs to get leveled in some way

for me right now that's mornye, rover, verina, encore, and sanhua

soon to be joined by aemeath and shorekeeper

it's not everyone's cup of tea and that's fine, but of those who've watched it, basically only ever heard people like or love it as a comfort show with very good animation/art direction and character designs

also yes, all purples being DOA and most free characters (even when SSR, e.g. anni characters) being similarly shit is a bummer

basically the only exception to free characters being bad thus far is smol white and even she's mid by today's standards (though still definitely usable for new players with a limited roster)

rei is garbo, kilo is garbo, rapunzel pure grace has one very niche use as a pilgrim tower b1 for those without mermaid or doro (or base rapunzel in a pinch but the CD is awkward), mori is garbo, chime is garbo

and every purple character is replaced immediately by any even remotely relevant SSR as soon as one is available

fgo, where welfares and the silver/bronze servant list are mostly decent, with several being really good

hell even fuckin arknights has some pretty good freebie 5 and 6 stars

another eden's free cast is a mixed bag, but that's mainly bc they have shifted to updating older characters at a literal snail's pace; regardless, even that game has some pretty good freebies

then there's nikke, which does A LOT of shit right

Whenever you get the standard 5 star weapon box (at UL45 I think?), Emerald of Genesis is good on Aemeath, and then decent on most other sword users if you ever decide to move it around

it is very nice that wuwa has

1. a standard weapon banner
2. that doesn't suck (guarantee + selectable)
3. that is better than the standard character banner (once you have verina and maybe encore to start, which i do)

as someone who's still waiting on some good ZZZ standard weapons, i appreciate that wuwa has a firm time frame on getting them, and that they're more helpful in the long run since they're obviously more splashable
