thoughts TL;DR is that it was aight, some parts i liked and some parts fell flat, wall of text ahead hot off the presses:
- ||i liked banyue's story and the setup they did for dialyn's. however i think dialyn dropping her big lore bomb and mother of all guilt-trips on banyue about halfway through right before the feel-good feast was nasty work. that shit was stone cold and made the later "i knew you were a good person dialyn!" line ring a bit hollow because that was straight up psychopath behavior. i get she was struggling with where her own "judge" moral compass was pointing her as well and was looking to force answers but that was not very cash money of her, to put it mildly||
- ||i appreciated there was a lot of casual moments with shunguang and not just "let's get down to business to save waifei" all the time. ofc they made it easier to like shunguang but also made the ultimate reveal that the qingming sword has been affecting her, even sheathed, and she is losing her memories hit harder. given we've seen her gameplay regularly show her transform to qingming mode, and i doubt they'd let that slide if canonically she was slowly killing herself to do so, i have to assume next patch will have us save her from the sword's effects once and for all, especially since it's hinted shiyuan is trying to save her from more than just that||
- ||good riddance to sarah for now. i am so over her as a villain, that little bit this chapter where dialyn basically confirms sarah's been manipulating the events of this whole chapter made me roll my eyes. it's neat they've started to hint at a bit of sarah's past which is why i'm certain she'll be back, and i could maybe get invested if they make her into more than just a "just according to keikaku" fanatic, but i'll welcome the break from her chuuni-esque bullshit, especially since this chapter provided the angle that she herself is a pawn/being manipulated lol||
- ||i'm pretty whatever about ye shiyuan atm. obviously he was stupid for trusting sarah, but i appreciate that he wasn't actually evil or even meaningfully corrupted, and they're obviously not done with him yet. dude is guaranteed to be a future playable, especially with his edgier redesign, but i'll need to see more from him to buy in to him joining the main cast. i think it's pretty obvious based on the missing voicelines that a lot of the rewrite(s) involved his role in this chapter, so maybe they initially intended to kill him off but decided to keep him around and thus had to patch together breadcrumbs for how he'd come out the other side as a future playable and not our enemy ||

||i do like that faust is willing to bear the burden of knowledge. i actually think it may be a focal point of her canto. she knows too much about the other sinners, and they dont know much about her. that uncomfortable power dynamic will definitely be a big reason i think faust maybe the one sinner that probably never recovers in the standings of the others. i can see an outis or rodya betrayal arc and whatnot and it'll turn out bygones will be bygones for them but i dont see them exactly forgiving faust with how much she holds over them (and vergilius even). intriguing stuff to think about and a big reason shes my fave with heath.||
