so yeah ZZZ 2.2 was great overall ||and my heart will go on... this isn't even a pompey situation because pompey was actually a real one who was betrayed, isolde just went fucking insane lmao||

but i will say ||that the best parts were obviously the obol/magus/isolde angle... i still can't fucking get invested in the exaltists as villains||

||hell, even isolde wasn't a real believer, she was just using the power as a means to an end. now sarah is the new overseer and we got a carole tie-in so hopefully things will get more interesting, but "the exaltists these past 3 story chapters were actually controlled by an unbeliever who was basically using them to her own ends" doesn't really strengthen their role as a plot device and overarching villain||

||because of how the story ends with sarah becoming overseer, i can't help but think this is the latest in a long line of switcheroos where we "beat" the exaltists in a way that actually just makes them stronger, because isolde was just using them||

its ||particularly weird too because genshin, prior, had done a really good job with the fatui and the abyss order as the overarching antagonists||

||fatui very often had wins above us almost every step of the way. we faced their 4th member and she casually destroyed the traveler. 2nd member beat one of the gods in mind games. they feel like a substantial antagonistic group. exaltists wish they had half of that aura||

||it is definitely getting more and more annoying how they keep shifting goal posts for the exaltists as threats. half expecting them to end up as a fake out antagonist group for this to all make sense||

||inb4 sara and carole are actually trying to save new eridu from the mayor and using the exaltists for this end||
