i feel like there's some give-and-take to trying to tell a story in a gacha setting. there are benefits from needing to maintain constant updates and new character releases; at least when executed well, that structure necessitates a roadmap and proper planning and worldbuilding so the new content releases hit the right notes
i'd argue that's why the worldbuilding in most relevant games is actually quite good
to maintain a steady content cycle, you actually need a fleshed out world to put it in
of course, the drawback of constantly needing to move on to The Next Big Thing is that it often leaves characters or plot points in the dust and forgotten
