Horses you pull are not characters you build forever like in other games
They're "templates" that you can use in the game's training mode
Think of it like different starting characters in a roguelike
In the training mode you decide what to do on each turn (Training X stat, running a race) and keep going until you finish that horse's career goals
The effectiveness of the training is affected by RNG, which can be affected also by support cards you can bring with you to train
After a run is finished the output is saved, like a savegame from a roguelike
And you can take that output and use it to do content in the game, like Pvp or some events
The biggest potential turnoff for players in my opinion is going to be two things: pvp in gacha, and how heavy the rng is
There's rng in training, and rng in how well you run your races
So there's a lot of grinding hoping for good runs
It's almost like if you took genshin artifact farming and turned it into its own game

naga is probably the most evergreen character there and even she has risk of being powercrept mostly because she needs a duo partner to really shine and that inherently makes her less versatile than a theoretical future broken solo B2 support (see: crown)
fwiw, all of those characters are Good Enough that if not being able to break 200 is impeding your progression (i.e., you're sitting on a large bucket of leveling mats), i'd just take the plunge
if i can function with having 3 characters i literally never use perma-locked in synchro, you can definitely function with 5 potentially niche ones

also ||while i liked the cliffhanger at the end with the ethereal made from yuxian/yinjiang's memory (couldn't tell whose it was), i gotta say that i'm starting to find the exaltists tiresome. they're comically evil and have an overarching "just according to keikaku" reaction to literally everything, including what should (seemingly) be major defeats handed to them by the main cast. they apparently have a laundry list of plans and machinations and every time we stop one it's "welp, onto the next one" without much further ado, which sort of detracts from the narrative when it wants to portray the protags as achieving some great victory||
also also recency bias be damned, yixuan is probably my second favorite character now, honestly maybe even tied for first with eve. the more i see and play her the more she clicks with me in every way, from looks (insert dog barking gif here) to personality to how satisfying her gameplay is
