- the content is not time-sensitive
- their mechanics are interesting enough that they don't feel like time wasting since they keep you engaged
nineveh is a good example of a time waster boss that fails condition (2), its bullet hell phase is absolute dogshit
hugo could pass both conditions... if he wasn't used in shiyu
but shiyu is time-sensitive so (1) is a fail, and that's the most frustrating sort of failure
it wasn't an issue for me since miyabi just facerolled the other half and made up for it
but i feel bad for anyone with an incomplete roster trying to S rank this shiyu

also, around what level should i be able to finish the event? i haven't started it yet but idk how they scale events in this game
nikke makes them easy to clear even at lower levels, while some other games make them harder

there are really four parts of the event that you'll be able to progress to varying degrees:
- story: you can finish this at any level, there's no combat involved, just cinematics
- normal battle: you can try to progress this as far as you can go, every 5 levels (up to 15) is a breakpoint stage that's repeatable, sort of like nikke doing that every 2 levels, but i doubt you'll be able to clear all 15 at your level
- challenge battle: same as normal except it's way harder, you probably won't get very far (if any progress at all) in this at your level
- fiend hunt: unlocks 1 week after the event starts, it's raid/boss content with multiple parties. you probably won't get far here, i'd call this endgame content (though it's worth getting as far as you can, even if you don't kill the boss it still gives event currency for trying)
i would consider myself borderline endgame and even i can't full clear challenge battle or fiend hunt
at your level i'd try to clear as far as you can in normal battle with a specific focus on getting to one of the repeatable levels (5, 10, 15)
and just try out fiend hunt since even if you die, the attempt gives event currency + you can sweep on future days for the same damage
on the note of event currency, shop priority looks something like
- draw vouchers (surprise, pulls are always the top priority in any gacha shop)
- rainbow gear + 27 of upgrade tokens (the name of the token varies, but it's the item with 45 available for 100 apiece)
- all tears of the goddess
- because you're still leveling, the 4 star rank-ups are high priority, and buying the lower ranks (3 star, 2 star, 1 star) as needed can be helpful too but you'll get way more of those
- red slime, for the same reason as above
- ancient crystals
- refining crystals
- all the essences (strength/life/perserverance, with strength being the most important)
- gold
- ability pills or engraving scrolls
once your roster is mostly leveled, the rank-up stars and red slime go down in priority, as you'd prolly expect
