zzz 1.6 main story ||awesome chapter, some of it was kinda meh due to feeling very contrived/rushed but everything to do with hugo was fantastic||

||mayor-ex-machina showing up and supercharging the proxy so they could go on missions in person just to set up vivian worship + the eventual hostage situation was fairly on the nose though lmao||

||the bringer/sacrifice storyline really seemed like set dressing and was kinda poorly developed, hugo was clearly the star of the this chapter and he was great but it felt like the surrounding plot was kinda half-assed to set hugo up||

||i also wasn't really vibing with vivian when she was introduced because since she came across as chuuni/cringe but turns out she's actually really cute (and world's biggest phaethon simp was not an act holy shit)||

||hugo's EN VA is honestly goated, he did so fucking good, prolly my favorite performance from any VA in the game so far||

really looking forward to seeing where part 2 goes ||since it's obvious hugo isn't dead and this is all part of his plan, though there's still so many questions about what the fuck it is he's actually playing at||

i do have to say that i think these last few chapters ||feel like they skip around between setpieces too often, which contributes to how the overall plot feels rushed. i think the removal of TV mode as a storytelling device has sort of hamstrung hoyo since they're forced to shove so much into short dialogue and combat sections||

||they still nail the character writing/events, but the overarching plot feels like it's taken a backseat and is something they're struggling to develop properly or with the same care that they've managed with the characters||

||it makes sense for lycaon/vivian to miss it because they're extremely worked up about what's happening with hugo, but imo sanby doesn't have the same reason to just go like that||

||in general though i think the main story for mockingbird (hugo/lycaon/vivian) was S+ tier but the surrounding hartman/bringer/sacrifice stuff was like C-tier, and the mayor-ex-machina proxy powerup + "i actually know everything about you" out of nowhere was very abrupt and just sort of taken at face value by everyone involved despite being a major shift in the information landscape and wise/belle's lives||

||i can somewhat appreciate though that the setting is just now acknowledging that wise/belle being phaethon is new eridu's worst kept secret, so everyone who's anyone basically already knows lol||

||yeah i also would have been extremely surprised if many factions didnt already know. its again, kind of a case of them not doing anything bad as proxies and directly helping a lot of their causes which makes sense why but i am glad that facade of "we are totally normal guys trust" is being dropped thanks to this chapter lol. i am also quite curious about how they will take the sacrifice stuff going forward. super longshot but maybe pompey is playable??||

||or at least, we can know we may very likely get playable ethereal/type creatures in the future (please daddy pompey come back from getting milk)||

||and then during lost void's 1st patch, when ray had gone off to check on the dark wall and geppetto, miyabi caught up to her and when pressed about the dark wall issue, miyabi said she had to defer to the other void hunters as part of a pact when dealing with it. which by all means puts her at the lowest pecking order of the current active void hunters.||

||then, because sara had basically one upped miyabi when she took her sword there, its not too hard to imagine that they can at least "handle" miyabi in an all out confrontation. but i dont think they believe they can take the other active void hunters||

||overall i think we only know the status of 2 void hunters (3 with miyabi) and thats professor arche who is missing, and swordmaster, who is miyabi's grandma and is already dead. it can be safe to assume the falkenhayn mercenary group that consisted of dan, vyke, and their leader the elysia look-a-like are probs too old/dead, which leaves joyous and sunbringer who get brought up a fair bit, and i wouldnt be surprised if they are much stronger than what we know so far.||

||theres 2 reasons im assuming power over seniority (though i dont rule out seniority) in that its very likely the way they sell future void hunters will be by powercreeping or at the very least matching miyabi currently (from gameplay) and the other reason is that it feels like the 2 we hear about more often have just had way more impressive feats so far. such as sunbringer creating all bangboo and how she took out an entire hollow in the sky.||

||it could def be a case of them being too old to fight proper and leaving things to miyabi/the younger gen but i would also not put it past hoyo to glaze their kiana. she is their favorite child and sunbringer being a kiana look-a-like just has me with that feeling.||

||maybe that is also why the dark wall is touchy. the current active void hunters past miyabi are dealing with that in other parts of the massive city||

||zzz would really appreciate its own "winter's night lazzo" where they introduce athe whole group at least so we can have a face of the current void hunters past miyabi||

One last topic change: assuming I’ve digested all the material from these last few quests properly: ||The Dragons created Teyvat with the Dragon King (a real WTF reveal in Nahida’s second quest), then the Celestia came down and rewrote the world in their image. The dragons were naturally upset and fought back, and attempted to use Forbidden Knowledge in this attempt to no avail. Only a few were left- Dvalin, Azhdaha, Raiden’s dragon, Apep, etc.- and they became co-guardians of sorts alongside the Archons.||
||Then Khaenriah happened, and the Forbidden Knowledge balance broke in King Deshret’s kingdom. So he and Nahida’s past life worked to stop that, but enough of it still spilled over that Sumeru and Apep were corrupted. Part of it ALSO bled into Khaenriah? And apparently the corrupted forces were herded into the chasm by Xiao’s old mentor/comrade and Yelan’s ancestors. After that Apep and the elemental spirits (which I’m a little confused on, they were alien but they weren’t inherently evil and they lived in Apep?) spent 500 years trying to dilute the Forbidden Knowledge as best as they could until Nahida was freed and able to eradicate it for good||
