the fact that all new characters (save for seasonals and collabs) enter the standard pool after their banner is a very different dynamic
makes the pressure to pull on each non-limited banner much, much lower
whereas in hoyo games (and many others now), most characters are "limited" and only exist when their banners are active, either initially or through semi-frequent but unpredictable reruns

i will say that the hoyo model isn't inherently bad
it's the model + the amount of pulls you get
GFL2 seems more generous with its pull currency than the average hoyo game, so it feels slightly less shit
and i'm not even saying hoyo games aren't generous
i just think their model hits the perfect middle ground of stringing you along for pulls and keeping you on that thin line between "lucky i didn't need to spend to get the character i want" and "gotta swipe the credit card to get the character i want"

can't wait to play this on a proper PC because my laptop can only run the game at 30fps max and hitches frames regularly
it's playable but very suboptimal, i wanna see this roguelike combat with nutty buffs in all its glory
part of me looks at the insane updates ZZZ gets (to the point 1.4 is basically a soft relaunch) and then looks at something like nikke which is mostly stagnant and feels no small amount of jealousy
but then i remember this is hoyo who have more money and employees than god to throw at creating updates like these
still, ZZZ feels increasingly like a labor of love whereas the other gacha i play feel like they're going through the motions for the most part
and to be clear, i actually don't have a huge issue with sitting on a predictable, unsurprising gameplay loop for extended periods of time
that can actually be comforting, to have a set daily routine in any given game
ZZZ constantly redefining itself might actually turn people off because they can't settle into a rhythm or get used to how things are
but the quality of ZZZ updates far outweighs whatever momentary upheaval in the gameplay loop they cause
meanwhile nikke's been teasing "champion arena" (for PvP) for literally over a year because they can't get it quite right, and i guarantee you whatever that is is significantly smaller in scope compared to ZZZ's lost void mode which was made in much less time
not to mention that the new content nikke does add are rarely accessible to new players... new story chapters at the end of campaign which no new player is even close to, champion arena for high-end PvP, etc

SKK and AR Team infiltrate the village of Bohnsdorf in Germany on orders of Earl Griffin to investigate her b/c there's another clone who was relevant to the event prior, she grows fond of SKK and calls him/her 'Robin' even after leaving despite it being an alias used to infiltrate the village
A dirty bomb gets set off in the village and b/c of this she co-operates to help SKK + Team DEFY stop a bomb plot in Berlin by Paradeus which involved a bunch of dirty bombs that spread Epiphyllum pollen infused w/ELID to keep the experiments going so as to find subjects immune to the effects of ELID

SKK's emotions get the better of them after learning that because of the events of the previous 2 story events, Kalina becomes ill due to radiation exposure and Machilan offers to use her blood as a cure for the ELID poisoning as a result of said radiation exposure
so they go to a Paradeus lab to make the cure of her blood, Earl Griffin sends his personal doll squad with SKK in case of an ambush (which it is) by the other Machilan clone loyal to Paradeus, and the clone does indeed kill her sadly

her best team is nicole/anby/soukaku (technically lycaon or lighter beat anby here)

you could do dual dps lighter/soukaku with lycaon
for basically infinite stun
the key to it all is that soukaku's ult/chain attack and her normals have really good motion values and multipliers
you know how xiangling's pyronado works? soukaku does that in a way with her moves when she infuses ice into them in that she can easily rack up a ton of hits on many enemies and/or the boss
dps soukaku runs on 4pc horomone punk generally (if c6, go polar metal) and 2pc crit or 2pc atk
critting on soukaku isnt as necessary
her dpsing is her hitting like a truck
over hitting raw crits
and she enables her supports/stunners to deal more personal dmg
since you build stunners like a dps anyways and she in turn buffs them too

or yoimiya who can ditch all of them by turning her brain off
mauvika to me, feels like a deeply flawed character into genshin for the state its in and what the pyro element needs/wants
we have klee, hu tao, yoimiya, lyney, and arlecchino as on-field pyro dps characters
