||also fugue/tingyun is interesting and hopefully is part of the xianzhou becoming more and more interesting as time goes on||

dupes get used to increase potential, which can be minor stat increases, dp cost reduction, or even upgrades to passives

whether they're important or not depends on the character

anyone 3* or 4* will be pretty easy to max potential eventually, and welfares also get to max potential through events or whatever else

as for gacha 5 and 6*, it mostly doesn't matter as much

they tend to be nice bonuses but don't dramatically alter how a character plays

bagpipe pot5 is one of the exceptions but that's so far out of reach that it's not worth considering, and she's great regardless

as for ifrit, her pot 1 is 1 dp cost reduction

her archetype has a very high base dp cost (34 after promoting) so getting the 1 reduction doesn't matter much unless you're actively using her on triple dp penalty stages or something

but it's a nice bonus so ther'es no reason not to do it

can't really use dupes for anything else, anyway

but also some of these story chapters are legitimately like 10+ mins of dialogue i'm struggling to stay invested in

also a general complaint i have is that the passage of time and distances seems very haphazard in the story

it feels like people are teleporting around as necessary for the story

i'm having a very hard time picturing just how far various things are supposed to be apart from one another and/or how much time has passed between certain story beats

it's not super important but several times throughout the story it seems like parties have split up over long distances, only to regroup immediately when needed despite the distances involved

gives me late stage game of thrones vibes which is not a good thing

compared to the story version, which is super easy, the superboss version is probably one of the hardest fights in the entire game on paper

it actively punishes you for using type zone, and even if you use attack zones it'll still clear it and dispel all your buffs every time you break a bar

oh also it starts each phase with 99 stacks of total damage immunity and the effect won't clear until teh end of the turn it hits 0, so fuck you i guess

(type zone punisher is restarting its current phase, breaking the zone, and dispelling all your buffs, along with hitting you for 90% of your max hp and restoring its damage immunity stacks)

(where type zone is defined as any of the seven elemental zones, so fire/water/earth/wind/thunder/shade/crystal)

So starting w/UMP45, originally she was actually a Sangvis Ferri doll which was the main antagonistic faction prior to the events of Chapter 9 in GFL1

Why this is important is because she was also patient zero for a virus alongside her friend UMP40 (who was also an SF doll) that eventually lead to SF the company collapsing due to an AI uprising that resulted in the entire human workforce being killed by dolls affected by said virus, UMP45 wasn't affected but 40 was

So 40 forced 45 to kill her to prevent anymore from being infected

Then afterwards 45 goes on the run by herself before forming 404 which consists of herself, UMP9, G11 and 416

how does death even work for dolls in gfl2? i know it involves the "neural cloud" but several times even through c4 they've mentioned neural cloud backups and stuff that basically make it impossible for dolls to just "die" without being specifically targeted and wiped clean

nikke does something similar with nikkes, where they basically don't die unless their heads (specifically their brains) are destroyed, no matter what happens to their bodies

and it's the source of a lot of "death" bait-and-switches that sorta detract from the stakes in several scenarios

and that seems more restrictive than gfl2 dolls who seem to be just AIs loaded into bodies that are completely disposable

In this scenario UMP40/45 were under a military failsafe in the operation, if one of them didn't die after planting the virus into SF database then both their neural clouds would've been fried

Hence 40 wanting to go out on her own terms and not as a military pawn

Flash forward a bit after the military op on the SF compound, 45 runs into 9 who's known as Reina at this point

In this period she's involved in doll trafficking but only because she was forced to by the criminal gang she was under otherwise they'd kill her

45 pretty much helps her out of sympathy due to her being used by people as well, 9 is grateful for this and holds 45 in high regard

To the point where she made a scar over her eye to mirror 45

Until GFL2 where her new body removed said scar

That's the tldr of it anyways
