depends on who you're using to burst most of the time, but yeah that's not surprising

seems like signal's main damage besides gun damage is from her burst, so if you're not using that consistently she'll probably suck

also, SMGs aren't a good weapon type. ARs aren't much better but they're at least more reliable, and one of rapi's skills occasionally does some extra damage even if she's not bursting

unfortunately signal is also just bad lol

it's got a pretty standard daily cycle so maintenance is pretty painless

it also has no stamina system so there's no obligation to always try to be doing something to prevent capping a resource

once-a-day login to check all your daily boxes takes 5-10 mins

only gets longer when you have campaign or event stories to progress (and aren't just skipping them like a horrible, horrible person)

however i think it gets an overly bad rep/the importance of passing it ASAP is overstated

the reality is that you hit the 160 wall at a time where you'll be hella resource starved

so it's almost convenient to give some time for resources to build since you'd be leveling at a snail's pace anyway

but it feels like lately they're giving more mechanisms to get the 5 MLB nikke you need to break past the wall

you can get one MLB nikke for free guaranteed from the anni event

the new standard pull pity can be reached 6 times which is enough to MLB 2 of the 3 nikkes involved (obviously needs 600 pulls too though so realistically it's more like 300 for 1)

and there are ways to get targeted dupes in the shop and with items (and ofc the wishlist to some extent)

all that to say that i don't think it plays out as icky as it feels in theory

i'm certain that grave will be more meta-warping though, her squad buffs are nuts

cinderella's kit is just "rain rockets and do The Big Damage"

which may be fine, but we don't lack for very strong pure DPS

in total your squad should prolly look something like d / marciana / scarlet / soline / anis

anis is just there for faster burst generation

units with charge mechanics (snipers, rocket launchers) get bonuses to burst generation based on how long you charged their attacks, e.g. a 250% charged RL will generate 250% burst

but that only works if you're focusing the unit, so if you wanna be lazy on auto, you can put anis in the 3rd spot (d/marciana/anis/scarlet/soline) so you enter battle with her focused

meta squads can clear under significant combat power deficits, like up to 30%

non-meta squads will have much more trouble doing that, depending on how "non-meta" they are

but combat power increases as you level your nikkes and get them better gear, so in theory you will eventually be able to get it high enough to overcome that obstacle

hence the question being "how long"

ultimately though i'd say most nikkes are at least usable if not meta

some are genuinely garbage though unfortunately

recently the devs started implementing a treasure/favorite item system for popular but non-meta nikkes that make them much more powerful, but only 5 nikkes have that so far and i think they said they'll only be releasing 3 more at ~6 month intervals (i forget when the next 3 are due)

and ofc you have to hope your favorite non-meta nikke will be one of the beneficiaries, which isn't guaranteed

but i don't want to scare you off by making it seem like you won't ever see your favorite nikkes

Just wish they could've atleast finished up the story, there were some really cool buildup and we were nearing final maybe 2-3 arcs, then instead we got rushed instead.

And Kim Hyung Tae was already working on Nikke and Stellar Blade mostly by then.

DC's downfall metric started when they introduced ads for 1 pull and that was just 3 per day and another 4 ads to get Blood gems which is a mostly premium only currency (that you get 1 per day otherwise). Even the ads were out of the way. They couldn't even greed here properly.

It was missing a pity system until the near end, tho. I remember wasting so much gems in the Catherine and DoA collabs because I just didn't get one char. Took like 90 pulls for 1 Honoka and didn't get pink Katherine at all.

But like you get like a morbillion gems to the point everyone just hoards them for new units, so only collab times were when they got good sales.

The jp and Korean side was hilarious, tho. Here we get 1 Blood gem/day, 1 for watching couple adds, then there's an PvE event type every 2-3 months that after Round 200, you get 1 gem per round. But in jp/kr, it's like 1 gem per month and occasionally 5 per event, and couple more if you peak at PvP. Otherwise, it's buy only. The discrepancy is insane.

very scummy of them though, above and beyond normal gacha levels of predatory monetization

this kinda feels like where nikke's at to be honest? probably fewer rewards (again, 10 pull a day is insane) but the way nikke's gacha is set up just lends itself to saving

because basically every new nikke that's introduced will enter the standard pool soon after and therefore be wishlistable, there's debatably little reason to pull on their rate up banner

obviously rate up odds are WAY better than wishlist odds, so if you really want a character (and especially if you want to MLB them) then there's no substitute for spending on banners

but nikke is set up to reward patience

anniversary units which are always incredibly strong come at lower rate up than usual (normal rate up is 2% to get the new unit, pilgrim (anni) units are 1% though) and can't be wishlisted, so you'd think there's incentive to pull them

but because nikke's spark system carries over from banner to banner, if you're smart you'll just save pity to guarantee them

(which is what i've done)

honestly the only time i spend recruit vouchers or gems to pull is if the character is limited-time (collab or seasonal)

so my current savings look like this lmao

granted, i'm not fully f2p, i buy the monthly gems and occasional season pass/gacha skins when i like the cosmetics, and those almost always give some vouchers

but this is definitely achievable as a savvy f2p and basically puts you in a spot where you can pull any character you want without issue

I haven't mentioned about the tickets. They are usually 3-4star or 4-5stars, then above those there's guaranteed 5 stars. By the time the end of service announcement dropped, I had about 600 of these tickets, and 80-100 more of each of the specific attribute ones. Like I was sitting on like over 1200 free 5stars. You only need 7 copies/char and there's a system that converts any 6 randos to one of 5 wishlist 5 star, so it's super easy to max everything.
Near the end, they added a core system that added to increase the difficulty of maxxing out a new unit, instead of just pull 7 copies then use a level slime/skill crystals to max out. I think you need like 6 more fodder any 5 stars and 11 cores to fully max out an unit, but even then they gave out multiple fully built with cores (the main core was just okay, and you need to change it to optimize the unit), even the anniversary before.

Like, no joke, I mean it when DC is the most generous gacha in the universe.
