I can confirm that Childe is among the more difficult for weaker accounts

But once one's account gets thick enough he probably falls off amongst the hardest

Cuz he's very aggressive and damaging but also noticeably squishy once your teams get big enough

In general I think Japanese sounds the best to me, but English isn't terribly far behind

btw in case it wasn't obvious, the rotb characters will change how much exalto you need in single sided

before, to hit 280 in single sided, you needed 250 omega summon, the primarch in that element, and 5 exalto weapons for a total of 290

now, you only need 4 exalto weapons since you can stuff the rotb character in party and still hit 280 exactly

280 is relevant for stuff like new opus keys and the second set of revans weapons

a trivial benchmark in double sided setups, but then you can't use sub luci or baha or qilin or main bubs or whatever

When I was studying games design we worked a fair bit on how to convey information to a player, one of the points was that at a certain level you have to trust the player to have the ability to connect dots themselves, but always try to convey the important information as clear as possible so they have what they need to connect the dots

The issue is that you can't make a net that saves everyone from misunderstanding or not getting your ideas

To put that on the designer when a clear attempt was made to convey information and it just passed is harsh

But it's not exactly the readers/players fault either

Personally I believe in designing for the absolute dummy BUT make it so that they are able to uncover that information themselves in a satisfying way regardless

This applies strongest to the tutorial sections of games

I think the cup head tutorial controversy is something that can be brought up here

There were dots placed in it that weren't connected by the journalist, as a designer I would've added a timer that after 30 seconds would've spelt out the solution to their issue (lines and button inputs to show the solution), but the attempt was clearly made to provide them with what they needed, they just failed to connect the dots

And I don't think that's particularly anybody's fault

Speaking of which I haven't verified this but I've been hearing lately that that controversy was blown out of proportion because the journalist in question wasn't even reviewing the game at the time or intending to but was just playing it on their own and offering their personal opinions

And that the internet then immediately used that to label journalism incompetency

Someone to spoon-feed and repeat what was said, which while it helps people understand the concepts, if you have a lot of narrative to go through with things that are not similar to how things are in our real life, will get repetitive for all players because the people who don't connect the dots sometimes will do so other times

And the funniest part of this discourse too is that both of these perspectives are equally valid and there's no definite right answer, it's just a matter of how big of a net do you make to catch players who are struggling to understand/play and that is just so heavily subjective

I respect Sekiro's lack of an easy mode because if one did exist then a player who otherwise might not have would be able to walk away with a plesant experience, but it would also be one the dev's didn't want them walking away with

So they settle on the all or nothing

Ultimately though I think as the designer, even though it's not your fault, you do still have to ensure you are ready for the valid opinions you will face for the size of the net you cast, because you physically cannot make everyone happy with your product in anything

One of my lecturers wanted us to make our games as accessible as possible, and I disagree with that view even though it is valid, because the more you make something easy to understand, the more you strip away the players ability to come up with the solutions themselves, and instead it turns into an on rails type deal where the player responds exactly how you want to because they always know what to do

And in my opinion that's just pressing the right button at the right time to continue resuming your movie

So you trick the player into thinking they found it out on their own

When you are intentionally spoon feeding it to them

The most basic is stuff like in tutorials

Like for example they want to teach you how to use an upgrade tree

When you get to town and walk forward the upgrade guy is the first guy you run into in front of you and when you look at what he can do there's literally only a single node for you to upgrade

Rogue Legacy did this
