Bonuses are buffs that apply that turn only
A unit is considered to have "bonus" status when one of these effects is buffing them

Yeah, for example, skills like Spur Spd only grant a bonus if the adjacent unit initiates combat, so some skills don't work off those.
But for skills like Hone Atk, the bonus is applied at the start of your turn, and is shown as an additional modifier on your unit's stat display
Basically, if it's blue or red, something is either adding or subtracting that bonus, to my knowledge.
Going off what I know, a lot of units can live and die on those buffs. There's a few weapons that add to the overall might (ATK) when in combat based on the kinds of buffs a unit is getting (stuff such as the -Blade series of tomes, as well as some unique weapons, such as Laevatein)
Honestly, I do like Dorothy a good bit, just, stands out a whole lot compared to the cast in Binding Blade.

I still remember the funniest thing to me about some units was just, Yato.
It's Corrin's 5* sword, which to my knowledge, gave Corrin +2 to Atk and Spd if he initiated combat
In about a year or so, refinement was introduced, and you got Siegbert thrown in with his own 5* Sword, the Dark Greatsword.
And it adds +4 to Atk and Spd when Siegbert initiates combat, double what Yato does.
The legendary sword itself that was possibly one of the more busted legendary weapons in the series (Discounting stuff like some such things in Genealogy of the Holy War, cause I'm not gonna do comparisons there when most everything there is busted)... and it got creep'd by what we can only assume to be a rather well-made sword.
And it gets even better
With refinement, you could legit forge a Silver Sword that had 18 MT compared to the Yato's usual 16, and it also gave an HP bonus as well as a flat Spd bonus, no combat initiation required.
At one point, you were literally better served with a Silver Sword than Yato.

you need your own koyan, your own other 50% charger, ideally with the batteries split up (like waver, castoria, reines)
and then you can take a support oberon
you need kscope bc you won't be able to get morgan's skills off cooldown in time with only one koyan, and you can't run 2x koyan if you also need oberon

100m damage barrier if you don't weaken it (meaning hits under 100m do no damage); 5m if you do (which you should), and that's the most ignorable gimmick it has
drains af bar at start of fight and at its stopper, has nasty status conditions and debuffs, can knock back after a few turns on one phase, and if your units have a combined total of 8 or 12 buffs/debuffs, they deal 50% less damage for each interval
it's also exceedingly fast so if you don't debuff its speed you're not outspeeding it
and for shits and giggles it clears all its debuffs at the stopper too
i'm like one turn off of beating it but i can never do so before it punts my whole frontline
certain units provide immunity to knockback

team comps for blade can be pretty nice at least
since he can carry fleet of the ageless well
not his best in slot for damage
but its pretty solid + can help a second dps pop off or your nihility debuffers do even more damage
so can be like
bronya and/or silver wolf + blade + welt/pela + heals
team comps for blade get a lot easier with lynx releasing in 1.3
