i caved and lowered difficulty for gidrun since i just wanted it over with, but i'm planning to do the rest of the story bosses on master
and leveling sidekicks is gonna be part of that
setup is actually a little hard to do; black clad swordsman is an alter and those aren't always easy to get, while milsha as is also pretty hard to get off rate up

most of them, but not all of them, have their own dungeons where you can farm light/shadow on them; for the rest, you can use toto (you can also use toto for non-gachas with their own dungeons)
maximum light/shadow on a unit is 255
base 2* come with 0, base 3* come with 1, base 4* come with 4, and base 5* come with 16
collabs also come with 16 even if they start at 4*
so if light/shadow were guaranteed, then in the best case, starting from 16, you'd still need 239 runs to max their light/shadow
for perspective, you get 4 green keys and 4 red keys per day, and can buy up to 10 of each weekly using time gated currency
furthermore, light/shadow drops are in the ballpark of 20% for red key dungeons, 25% for garulea/equivalent green key dungeons, and 10% for regular green key dungeons
in short, to get one character from 16 to 255 light/shadow, you're looking at like 6+ months
and 6 is being generous
now, 255 isn't necessary, but it does help, since at various benchmarks, that character will get extra stats
but some benchmarks yield extra badge slots, extra skill slots, and extra grasta slots
extra skills really depends on the unit; some definitely have a lot of viable skills, while others only really use 2 or 3 at most and don't have need for the extra button
but extra badges correlates to extra stats or other benefits, and extra grasta slots.....yeah
extra grasta is huge for dps especially
anyway, you take that 6 or so months of standard grinding to get a unit to 255
then you make the drops guaranteed 1 per run (except in toto, where 2 or 3 are still random)
at a rate of 4 keys per day, that's a rate of 4 light/shadow per day
instead of 6+ months, you're looking at around a month
but that's still for one unit, and as i established, there's a shitload of non-gacha units in this game
so even if they guarantee light/shadow, it doesn't actually remove any incentives to run these dungeons, since it's still gonna take people a very long time to do everyone
not to mention material rewards and whatnot
but they won't do that, because the people balancing this game have very questionable takes on what constitutes good balance
free units can clear all content: awesome, this is the baseline
collab units can't use the skills from attack skill grasta in conjunction with their own passives: intentional for game balance considerations, but absolutely nonsensical in the context of the rest of the game
velvet should be able to use the earth calamity grasta in conjunction with critting to raise her stacks, but apparently this is too broken for game balance, so we can't have that
but we can have minalca break the game in half on her weird-ass chainsaw sword

ran in with this comp, turn 1 swap violet out for serge, stall for 10 turns, swap prai out for minalca on turn 10, then kill him on turn 11
violet's there specifically to bear for minalca
i'm not sure how to easily mitigate turn 6 damage so prai's also useful to tank that damage, otherwise if you do it right you should be taking little to no damage every other turn of the fight
sadly, stalling 10 turns is mandatory
since the boss isn't attackable until turn 11
i'm running tetra as main sidekick and if you have minalca 5*, you also have tetra so that's not a concern
but if you don't have minalca, other dps shoudl be fine, and main lord ukelele probably, unless you want to set up korobo or minimander for more af gen or something
but yeah, not that bad
so far, all of these have been manageable on master, with the exception of gidrun

the sticking point was the all as character requirement
getting necoco as finally motivated me to come up with this hot mess of a comp
used milsha as equipped with wind zone grasta to set wind zone and go into singing, then necoco/azami did the rest
levia's there mainly to sustain
and the fruits of my labor
oh also azami ran elpis dagger, just in case the comp wasn't overkill enough
ex3 is women only, so i could just run the above comp and swap ewan out for a woman with sweet tooth
problem is that unlike most other trials, one of the conditions is to clear it in over 20 turns
so i'm gonna have to figure that out
shouldn't be that bad, though; just need ot keep debuffs and healing up

TIL there is apparently a way to have arash buster loop
it's quite possibly the stupidest thing i've read tho
requiring, among other things, a level 1 koyanskaya with her 1 maxed and a level 1 chen gong
so team comp is something like arash with mlb princess of the white rose, 50% battery support (assuming arash doesn't have mana loading, adjust if he does), chen gong front, with double koyanskaya and oberon in the back
one of the koyanskayas is level 1 and holds a self-killing ce like bg

there might be a more practical way to do it, bu ti'd have to dig
any strat that requires this piece of shit should be discarded outright except as a meme lmao
