A Fake Speed Tie!?

︀︀In my top 8 set against @supahsanti our Gengar seemed to speed tie cause Santiagos Gengar mega evolved first but mine attacked before his did. However, he was running 24 Modest while I was running 10 Timid. Both Base Gengar have 154 speed but in the mega the speed stat differs. His is 174 while mine is 176. So yea, we were in fact not speed tying after the mega evolution happened. Fascinating, isn't it?
