But yeah, for anyone looking to buy macro-able controllers from 8bitdo: If you can find the Pro 2 Controller, get that one. The Pro 3 Controller cannot have its home button remapped, you cannot remap a button to home either, and the software is fairly awkward to use.
(Like, I was this close to reverse engineering how the mapping works for the controller and write my own tool to do that, until I found out that all the issues I'm having are with the pro 3 controller)

As a gaymer, the DLC is trash. It adds mythicals, it's a fairly grindy storyline and some battles get annoying fast.
As a shiny hunter, it adds many harder to get shinies for other games (starters, Sword/Shield, some Alola regionals, some Sword/Shield regionals), and some that you currently can't get (outside of Pokemon Go) like Gimmighoul. + of course the 5 Legendaries that can be shiny hunted.

I think part of it too is how prolific the DS was. Its like the 2nd best selling console and so a lot of people were exposed to it.
Also one thing I can personally speak on was how sick online battling was. Especially in a still decentralized internet, you would look and find weird forums or chatrooms to add people and battle them etc. I remember coordinating trades in the commect sections of Marriland videos for example, its how I got my first ever Shiny Latios that was a mainstay on my team.
