in terms of general improvements, i suppose i'd say plat had more improvements from diamond/pearl compared to emerald from ruby/sapphire

then again that could be the case the diamond and pearl had more problems in general

both had their peak features like physical and special split but the battle frontier in emerald is still unmatched today and DPPT HGSS reduced it to 4 facilites

I think the best part is the endless creativity of what moves certain mons benefit from

example:Absol couldn’t use of its high attack stat for STAB

well i'm personally biased to begin with cause the physical/special split is way too important for me and one of the biggest reasons i find it hard to revisit pre-gen 4 games. catching cool stuffs like crawdaunt and absol only to be unable to use them to any effective degree has always been my biggest pet peeve.

in terms of the post-game content itself, i think they are quite balanced, with an edge to platinum. for plat post-game, you have the entire island as opposed to just the frontier. yeah, the emerald frontier has more facilities but i have never cared about the factory and palace due to how unbalanced they are.

as for the main story, i'd say cyrus and team galactic is overall a better antagonist faction compared to magma or aqua (probably even both). i personally prefer steven as a champion more than cynthia, but emerald changed that so it doesn't even apply.

i suppose that does make steven being a secret boss a selling point to emerald's post-game.

i also feel like plat has more competent and viable pokemon you can use in your maingame

which is partially related to the physical/special split tbf

sinnoh's more varied location aesthetics and design does make it more memorable to my tastes

in terms of the pokemon games i've replayed the most, it's prolly BW2, then Platinum, then USUM, then HGSS, and these 4 noticably more than other games

BW2 is where i consider the most balance to be had between quality of life features from new gens and stable performance from earlier gens.

the regions in the newer titles dont have that adventure aesthetic as in the older regions which is why Sinnoh and Hoenn are my favorite regions despite playing Gen 2 my whole life

Ugggh, this is one event I just plain don't like. Most other battle events at the least give you an option to either pick a more light battle, or just not battle altogether, but this space-person just forces you to do a 1 on 3 battle, and with the mons in your party you have been using the least too

One upside is that they always begin with a Clef that has terastalized into a steel type and uses a bunch of physical attacks... for some reason.

...Speaking of, still hillarious that Clefairy is one of the few rare mons to learn Meteor Mash, an attack normally associated with the very big Metagross (as seen above)

It's a right shame training Clefable to sock things in the face isn't a very good strategy

Seems like every time I find the Dynamax Band, I can't find anything to use it with.

I could probably start a run with Charmander so I at least can get most anything to use these things with, but in the case of Mega Evolution, I may not be able to really specialize in one specific thing.

Mega Charizard X hits things hard with physical attacks whereas Y is very special attack oriented. At least G-Max Charizard can likely do both.
