Got into a writing mood today and did some stuff for some trainers in this little story I'm writing on for a fangame(?).

Mostly it's a journey of our protagonist to quell the fury of some pokemon that fell under some affliction, and defeat the dark lord, more or less.

It's a fantasy sorta world inspired by some settings such as those in Dragon Quest, so it's like that

A few concepts I got for some scenarios around the world were like:

A warrior who holds up a bridge and won't admit passage unless the protagonist defeats them. They're on their 999th victory, and you just so happen to be the one that can break that winning streak. Imagined he'd take it in good stride though. Inspired by the warrior monk Benkei, and how he defeated 999 warriors and claimed their swords until delt a loss by Yoshitsune.

Dragon tamer who is caught up in wanting to be the best dragon tamer ever... so he ended up stealing one of his master's dragons (Decided it'd be a Garchomp), and decided to challenge the protagonist, thinking he can't lose. And he loses (Would be funny to have this mon have like 0 in all IV's and poor moves, aside from dragon claw, reflecting how he isn't very much in control of it). After that battle though, he'll realize that this strength he felt he had isn't truly his, and resolves to take the long road to improvement rather than a shortcut, starting with returning the dragon.

Guy who is, literally just the Black Knight (Good bit of inspiration from Fire Emblem here). Certainly is the right-hand to the current dark lord, whomever they are. While he has no issue pushing the big bad's agenda, he's still very sincere, and will have some concept of Fair Play when it comes to hindering the Protagonist's progress. Dunno what mons he'd have, but at the very least, one of his will be Ceruledge.

A sort of thief (Or possibly just some boisterous guy) who thinks he is the one and only rival fit for the Protagonist, and seeks any opportunity to try and best them in a battle. As talented as he is, though, he can't truly match up to them, and is pretty sore about it. In spite of that though, he doesn't give up. Certainly will have some spirit for competition.

First two are just some notable trainers that are around to liven up the world, last two are major characters. Still need to flesh out mr. thief though.

Oh yeah. That affliction I mentioned plays into that I feel.

Some powerful mons around the world may suddenly turn violent, necessitating action to be taken to prevent things from getting worse. I'll have to decide what sort of key the protagonist could have to remove such a curse though.

And this isn't limited to just regular mons too. Legendary mons could seemingly be taken by this curse.

Had the thought of some legendaries having some regional forme that they take in this setting, but so far, all I got is that I could throw in Groudon.

A Groudon that is the cause for a massive sandstorm sweeping across the sandy plains, putting the livelihood of people and Pokémon at risk. Instead of harsh sunlight, sandstorms follow it wherever it goes.

it's important to not deviate too far from what pokemon's tone is normally like

it's another hack in the vein of rad red but it has its own original story and iirc is easier, but also has difficulty settings and does some unorthodox tricks with some of its fights

for example, ||the first gym leader is a stoner so you have to deal with fog in his gym, and one of the other gym leaders does inverse battles||

on lower difficulties iirc there is no level cap, but trainers scale with you so it doesn't matter

||hoopa is plot relevant and is why it's called pokemon unbound (hoopa-u, unbound etc||

I have some good idea of giving Chesnaught a move in which it simentaneously protects from attacks and deals an attack of its own (Albeit a weak attack that's nowhere near as hard-hitting some moves), but I'm at a loss for the others

Also figured, why not, let's make Greninja's ATK stat higher than its Sp. ATK stat for this forme. Standard can learn Gunk Shot, so that'll make something like that more painful, especially since it'll be a Water/Poison type

Also think it'd be cool for it to learn a move that allows it to, in a double battle, take a hit that was meant for an ally. Not exclusive to it, since I think some mons like Nidoqueen, Armarogue or Aggron could learn it too.
