IVs are def the worst thing in the series for core battling
Especially as soon as Hidden Power was removed
I could see them doing it eventually because theyre tired of juggling all these balls/data with transfers
But even in Pokemon Go its ass
i'd sooner see them remove transfers altogether since it's the worst idea of the bunch
Eh transfers are fine, I'm just happy that when you transfer into SV your Pokemon effectively gains the "Battle Ready" mark automatically. Def going to make later VGC regularions easier to deal with
i also think transfers are fine
i'm saying they'll probably eventually kill them, which would be the worst idea to solve the problem, but probably the easiest
Ah ya, sad but true
hunting Chanseys for XP
okay
After an hour of grinding
Everyone is up to the current level
You challenging e4 yet?
Gonna need to find time catch up what’s new y’all have watch last night, holy crap
Alright, get this
Those three of Momotaro’s companions on his journey? They have some rather silly ability
Toxic Chain. Occasionally a Pokémon that attacks them will be afflicted with Bad Poison.
Now, this is a fun ability, but I really just have to point out how scary this looks
Friggin, trying to double-edge Okidogi and then woops, Tauros is hit with it’s ability
Suffice to say each of them are probably poison types
It's the other way around. It has a chance to happen when they attack a Pokémon.
yeah
also like we dont know the chance of getting poisoned
like it could be 10% or 50%
Which for reference is 30%
if it'd be 30% it kinda goes crazy with stuff like rock slide
especially in doubles
Toxic is worse than poison in doubles due to doubles being faster
Just to note
well i was referencing 30% flinch chance of rock slide and 30% toxic chance of it and when hitting 2 opponents at once
not toxic broken
Ah
which should be around 75% chance to either flinch or poisoned provided rock slide hits both
@maiden flax @outer eagle ||gliscor is coming back
||
bootleg lando my beloved
what if gligar and aipom get new evolutions?
probably not but regional evo not outr of equation ig
but
maybe something cooking for gligar and aipom considering johto love
only thing that can save johto is a new dinosaur meganium paradox
as their only evos were cross-gen
||either that or paldean gliscor||
That said
Even if that were the case
The other would come back
Since a regional form has never not been with its original
Babe-strika?
is that how you'd spell it?
it was just first thing that popped onto my mind because well zeb and babe rhyme
plebstrika
What’s Zebstrika prevo name again
blitzle
I was curious, the Japanese name seems interesting
Ok I think I figured out the whole DLC
it's a bit crazy, but I think Im on to something
Quick version:|| Paradox mons are imagination, The Loyal 3 are actually villains, and terapagos is a prisoner of blueberry academy||
@bleak pine btw I found the answer to that one question about sandshrew learning poison sting
many shrews are venomous
Did not expect this to get a continuation
https://twitter.com/haruxxe/status/1671499466816524288?s=46&t=q-1AmjVFLGCcEVWLfARPPw
Alright I will start a new game for real this time. I just uploaded everything to Home
I just need to get my rules straight
no flamigo
no starter
Poison types only
sounds like a job for h sneasel
Oh, they are? Wow.
And I thought Platypus were like, the only mammal to do so
Vampire Bats are venomous also
However I don't think Sandshrew learns poison sting because some shrews happen to be poisonous
I think trying to find logic in Pokémon is silly
The whole sting thing really seems like it's something not much mons could learn since it involves 'stinging' the target.
So, stuff like Weedle, Skorupi and Marenie, yeah
But not so much stuff like Ekans
And yeah, logic is not something to seek
Been on an artwork hunt in TCG
And I have to show this
LOOK AT HOW TINY ZANGOOSE'S TOEBEANS ARE
AAA
Fun Fact: Many species of shrews are venomous. They use their venom to paralyze prey. 🛝🐭💤 #naturalhabitatshorts #naturalhabitat #naturalhabitok

Ah, cool. Well, terrifying, but cool.
also I was thinking about cinccino and I was thinking it should get a ground regional variant
or at least some kind of status move related to sand
A dirty boi compared to the neat freak
No actually, both would be clean freaks. But the ground one would have more emphasis on chinchillas taking baths
a very clean friend
currently cinccino learns zero sand related moves
Oooh
New ability: If the user uses a "sand" move, Regional-Cincincco regains 50 percent of the damage inflicted (if damage move) or heals a status condition (if status move)
and the regional one would get access to a bunch of sand moves
That'd be cool
shiny
pride cetitan 😮
cool
If I ever get to play Pokemon again, I'm trying to figure out which starter I'm getting: Chimchar, Turtwig, or Piplup?
Turtwig
Lv32 earthquake broken
Tho it does get violated by everything in lategame having ice beam
NGL, in previous runs I got everything but Turtwig.
Like, I tried Piplup in one game, Chimchar in another.
Well at least you didn't lie
Had to look at the symbols to get which kind of armor evolution this is about 😂
We are finally back after a long wait with my buddy @Karn_EX and we are going to give even MORE Pokemon their own Digimon Armor evolutions!
Make sure to check out Karn and I's video on his channel!

Check out the amazing artist featured in this video:
https://ww...
Otherwise I was thinking about ‘Armored Charizard’
Papa Turo or Mommy Sada?
Mommy
Don't be weird guys
I have Scarlet
I hope we get more paradoxes in the dlc
I hope it's a future paradox not called Iron Blank
Iron Metal, Iron Liquid, Iron Sludge
The last one actually I kinda like
What if we got a regional drapion
Nah I was thinking electric
I do think we wont be seeing Paldean regionals in the DLC, BUT we could see new regionals from a different region
nope\
Nope
Yes
Pokestar Studios was so cool, I wish they would bring it back
I vaguely remember that being the worst part about the gen 5 games
No it was good
Might swap Deino out for a Volcarona
man contemplates making new profile on Switch to start a new playthrough before finishing first one
Is this the E4 team
it was my E4 team, ye
it's the team I used for all the endgame fights
except for The Way Home
lead with Clodsire, tho
Spikes setter let's go
Ayyyy Haxorus
Hey guys did you know that in terms of bulkiness
did you know Flygon has the same amount of physical attack as trapinch?
and that vibrava has less physical attack
beeg jaws
I did know trapinch has 100 base atk because it came up in a nuzlocke once

What happened? Is this about Trapinch me in Ren’s
Managed to clear Virbank with a full team of 6. That doesn’t usually happen so kinda happy.
did koffing keep using smog instead of venoshocks
It’s a randomizer nuzlocke so no Koffin here
ah randomiser
The early game is responsible for like at least 70% of my failed runs
normal mode or challenge mode btw
Challenge Mode with 1 extra mon on top for every important Trainer
Random moveset with some bias towards Stab
random moveset does make the fights a bit harder
as you can't predict the moves of your opponent's mons since if it was not randomised it'd be last 4 moves it learns by lv up
Random movesets and abilities
I also made it so that all important trainers’ mons have some kind of positive item on them
It helps the fun somewhat
Cuz a lot of mons have some pretty boring abilities otherwise
its fun until you get stall electrode or something
Personally I don't like randomised moveset because it makes planning for stuff weird af
I can get that
But i really don’t like hyper planning for future battles cuz it’s less fun for me
And with these kinds of randomizations i simply need to build the most balanced/powerful team i can
Without having to pre-plan much
It’s kinda why i always dread the Ultra Necrozma section of gen7, especially with level caps on
ultra necrozma section isnt hard at all
you just need to toxic stall with sash and protect
Random
Not exactly
or steel
well unless you randomise tms too toxic should be in aether paradise, no?
And sometimes you get shit like +3 all stats on a boxart and you just ragequit
I randomize items and TMs and tutors as well yes
makes sense
do you like remove all the bad moves for tms or just hope for the best
ah
Sometimes you get TMs for Spore or Sketch
man you playing randomiser reminded me how much i hate hustle
Oh yeah i absolutely do avoid using Hustle mons
A funny mon i had was Imposter Rhydon
Slapped an Eviolite on that shit and it was nice
i actually cant remember if i had some funny mons or not
klutz dragonite was one ig
@waxen moat remember I talked about Pokemon Ga ole earlier, this is my second time playing it
I somehow manage to get the whole bounsweet line, what are the chances
the Castelia shop sells Berry Juice
whats your current team like btw
Tympole, Bellossom, Magnezone, Crawdaunt, Slaking, and a Kyogre that i actively avoid using
smh uses legendaries
funny thing is
my randomizer settings were supposed to exclude legendaries from every possible encounter location
except there's one tiny place without an option to disallow legendaries
and the rng happened to give me a legendary in that one spot
that's luck ig
i couldn't even not take the Legendary either cuz that'd give the Legendary to my rival for the entire run (yes i enabled that setting), so i just took it and actively avoided sending it out
i could have...
but i'm lazy
couldn't really do the 1st gym with a mon disadvantage so that's that, had to use it
but cleared the second gym without using Ogre at all
Honestly at the end of the day nuzlocke is for fun so like you could just choose to play with legendaries
oh don't get me wrong i do play with Legendaries sometimes
but that usually means i allow my opponents to have Legends too in the settings
this is an unintended loophole of the randomizer more than anything
only rule i generally dont follow is like nicknames
feel like it gives too much attachment to mons
unnecessary attachments
whenever i catch a mon i don't care about, i name it one of L, F, Y, K
understandable
they really made the level cap jump from 19 to 26 after 1 gym
its a me mario
box we have sunflora raz and sandslash gil but im gonna look at my slateport encounters
swampert soon
also ren wtf why are you severely underlevelled
Fitting metrona mon
I also gave steroids to the trainer levels like ryuji
tm01 is fire punch and salt can learn it
Jolly nature blaziken, how the hell did you manage that
@void herald I shall try to keep you alive

that's the typical Challenge Mode level jump Ren
i didn't boost the level percentage at all

the good thing is that now that i'm in Castelia i can grind levels very quickly
alternatively you can like use rare candies if grinding gets tedious
No candies
i don't typically EV-Train b4 hand, so i try to get EVs as much as possible through regular grinding
yeah but hey, this is a pretty strict nuzlocke run after all so i do need to take some precautions
not to the point of EV training ofc, cuz that's too boring
i do have level caps + no healing items + extra mons/items for bosses after all
yeah idt i've ever grinded to max out my ev and stuff at all in nuzlockes
I normally dont ev train too much yeah, but it did come up a few times
Emerald mono poison HC nuzlocke I committed whismur genocide so my party got maxed hp evs for wattson and tate&liza
can you even like beat roxie with just dustox
yes but it took like 15 tries
I didnt actually bother resetting 15 times but just threw myself at the fight over and over
since it just results in the same thing
did you just 6 harden and hoped for no crit
Yeah you have to harden 6 times prayge for rock tomb misses
should have EV both HP and DEF then
Yeh
you also did some level edging right
you need to edge
or else you definitely arent winning
those couple hp should matter
HP and Def
yeah
extra levels during the early game is so much more impactful than those during late game
yeah
Yeah kill geodude level up
how much hits does confusion even need to kill nosepass
probably 3
quick calcs say 6
Lvl 16 0 SpA Dustox Confusion vs. Lvl 15 0 HP / 0 SpD Nosepass: 5-7 (13.1 - 18.4%) -- possible 6HKO
3 to geodude, yeah
Lvl 16 0 SpA Dustox Confusion vs. Lvl 12 0 HP / 0 SpD Geodude: 12-15 (34.2 - 42.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
youve to burn some potions for beodude
chet
oh you're allowed to heal?
oh
ah
that
I went for poison sting poison fish on nosepass because of the potion also
well 2 hits should always put it in healing range
yeah
This was the endgame team (you have exactly 7 encounters, dustox died somewhere in the 40s). Also this is vanilla emerald sans a decapitalization mod
i'd definitely never play a mono poison emerald locke
i read that as decapitation mod

isn't there anything better than Seviper
Ryuji you have 7 encounters
that one is triggering me
Dustox died
is it?
Also crobat hard carried
safari zone extension
safari zone yeah
Also seviper is still better than ariados
apparently grimer at fiery path
idk man Bug Poison has some pretty neat resistances all things considered
safari zone is spinarak
well ren said this
i will die on the hill that Ariados is better than Seviper but since it's post-game it doesn't matter
What is this?
wwhen was quiver dance introduced again?
gen 5
gen 5
Grimer and koffing arent bad
for in-game playthroughs, Muk and Weezing are amazing
Im of the opinion that had alolan muk and galarian weezing gotten reliable recovery that they would have been ou
Oh speaking of which metrona, im actually getting some decent success with alolan muk in OU right now

Yeah!
you can probably cheese with minimise strat too
muk good
shored up the lack of recovery with black sludge + protect and grassy terrain rillaboom support
Weezing was OU viable in gen 3 iirc
Black sludge protect with grassy works well
Dark poison and poison fairy are both like amazing defensive typings
Ooo body slam is evil with poison touch
Either get parad or poisoned
Yeah! friend introduced it to me
is PJab not enough
inb4 Drapion wins worlds
alolan muk is actually a really neat defensive mon
although pinch berries arent as good anymore
wake me up when some chad wins with Power of Alchemy
(it wont)
Alolan Muk has been nice to me too since Bolt mentioned it
Watch a replay of a Pokémon battle between A and UnskilledSuccer ([Gen 9] OU)
Alolan muk just farmed this guy
what are you on thugs?
gunk shot knock off protect and something else with gluttony figi berry?
could curse or taunt ig as fourth move
Exactly that yeah, gunk shot/knock off/protect/taunt
Helping Hand
does it even learn helping hand
Yeah it gets it
Both learn helping hand
Rock tomb for speed control
Memento always provides some nice memes
acid spray with chi yu
muk is like very bad for speed controlling
when you have fucking eleki and tornadus
Yeah my knowledge and skill is for singles only
Also like chilling water in itself is also good speed control, not to mention icy wind
bundle yeah
tho people stopped running icy wind later on because encore good
or you gave up on freeze dry / hydro pump
From the dlc trailer I think we might be getting alolan ninetales, which would be huge for snow teams
alolan ninetales is just better abomasnow with better typing
I like pressing sandsear storm in rain
Yeah, but maybe you run both to diversify your lead options
I’ve been slacking, I got a regionals in September I should be prepping theory for
its series d? or c
I believe it should be d, but let me double check
if its series c you can just play chi yu balance
palafin balance is also okay ig but it kinda fell off
Huh, now I can’t find it anymore. I swore it said we had a regionals in like Mid September in Baltimore
Well either ways, whenever they come to Baltimore, I’ll go there
did you.......look at 2022 schedule
LOL.. you know what, that might be the logical explanation
I was too excited looking for a regionals near me that I might have not looked at the year
lmao
wonder what would be a good FWG core in series d
thugs hear me out
zapdos lando lead
Discharge EQ?
I don’t see anything wrong with it tbh, but hear me out here; Rillaboom and Enamorous T
i dont know anything about enamorous tbh except I has contrary superpower
It has a cool supportive moveset
but isnt it unusable except inTR
Is it? I was just going off the series D rulings
wasnt its speed 30
Also has an insane spA stats and a respectable atk stat in I
Oh wait it keeps it’s offensive stats in both forms
So it’s hurting something regardless
135 SpA with 106 speed is bonkers tho
We’ll see though, I mean we did just have Iron Valiant not do much at all
I think realistically though for series D, I’m looking at alolan raichu and rillaboom from the returning Pokémon
Alolan Raichu?
Rilaboom loses so much tho
high horsepower superpower grassy glide
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9doublesou-1891166789-l3a04ip5qytbsfthbdje5zxwq478s5mpw look at lando i go
Watch a replay of a Pokémon battle between DOUBX Tasper Jeng and Metrona ([Gen 9] Doubles OU)
I’m thinking of some cute stuff to try with alolan raichu but we’ll see how it actually works out. And yeah, but I think Rillaboom in general will see use just off his ability/stats alone
does boom atleast learn knock off?
Yeah
You had such a tempo advantage off the first few turns, well played on your end
its been a while since i saw erruption torkoal
erruption probably best in TR team tho
AAAAAAAAA
…Though I can Def see Saltdust being Blaziken
Also ayyyy good job on Brawly
Just gotta find Swampert next for the whole set
man hunts for three segment Dudunsparce instead of finishing the game

I still love how stupid Dundunsparce is
That’s what newly introduced evolutions ought to peak at
Just, dumb
i in fact love it because it goes against all that fakemons evos
Everyone expected Dunsparse to end up like, some flying sacred serpent of sorts
Instead they just long-d the boy
be tsuchinoko, grow another segment, refuse to elaborate
Love how it’s a cinnamon roll
If a mon gets lost in it’s nest, it will carry it on it’s back and take it to the exit
Kinda stings we didn’t get the epic dunsparce evo people wanted at first, but I appreciate dudunsparce ideas, even the segment thing
Iirc tsuchinoko are lucky things, longer Dudunsparce happen base on luck

beat The Way Home
grats
They are also meant to be somewhat of a joke
That too
cute
Love the kitty
Saltdust simentaneously being a Shotoclone, and Dracula
Also holy shit Suzaku with two multihit moves and technician(?)
reset the run cuz i really was leaning on Kyogre and failed a few encounters by forgetting that i had Scope Lens
on the bright side, my starter is one of my favorite gen 3 mons, Claydol
Yes
his voice does sound like it
just beat 2000 elo rain
Watch a replay of a Pokémon battle between A and V1ctoriasfacile$$$ ([Gen 9] OU)
@outer eagle @fading stratus @maiden flax
Nice
I’m afraid of viewing any replay on phone ngl
Why?
My phone can’t handle DB replays for example, so i’m hesitant to view replays in general on mobile
ps replays are pretty light
ps replays tend to be very light
Duelling book replays are like... weirdly heavy for some reason
Figured some fans of the Wooper line would be happy to see this, seeing last weeks episode we saw a Paldean Wooper got hurt
also, good to finally see this old man's own pokemon, a nice one
wtf even the crew member themselves havent seen it, just how rare does this man pulls out his Quagsire
I like quag because huge power quag saved one of my runs
gastrodon is one of my fav mons
my favorite non-legendary water is probably Kingdra?
swampert
Swamp would be my favorite gen 3 starter, but that's kinda basic
Palpitoed less popular of the water ground club I assume
That’s how you say it’s name right
Wait it’s the evo I’m thinking, how do you spell it…
Seismitoed?
hey at least you can't be less popular than Whiscash
and even Whiscash is not a bad mon
Oh yeah, that I did forget lol
Seismitoad
the pre-DLC gen 8 extraordinaire
Too many good water mon to pinpoint which one I like the most
Swampert is very nice
Just beeg mud fish with man arms
Literally tows cruisers while swimming
Swampert honestly is a Gigachad among starters
On top of that it actually does have the highest stat average among all of them
Swampert the ol reliable
bisharp
water
oh water
The thought of Bisharp with water blades came to my mind seeing this lol
probably milotic or clawitzer then
favorite non-legendary dark would definitely be Bisharp for me
barely edging out Hydreigon
Either Umbreon or Krookodile
Oooh Malamar my beloved, contrary Superpower throughout my UltraSun playthrough
its okayish
Huh, 482 base stat total
bst wouldn't have mattered if they min maxed but oh well
i wouldn't just look at raw bst also
but "effective" bst at least
cuz most mons have 1 stat they do not use
ofc, even an average effective bst is not anything crippling
look at Ferrothorn
one of the best mons ever, with effective bst of 435
grass steel is a decent defensive typing
Malamar falls into that weird case of just being average to bad in everything
so even with a salvagable bst it's still not good
ferro?
11 resistences and 1 immunity yeah
10
true
is it bc we arent counting spa?
yeah
yes
Clefable has 413 then
and she's one of the greatest to ever do it
yeah so pokemon are the sum of their parts pretty much
My favorite ice type has gotta be Mamoswine, second being A-Vulpix/Ninetales
A-Ninetales in theory should be one of my favorite Ice types
but i don't use it enough competitively to truly develop a fondness for it
shedinja probably has like 200 effective bst\
well yeah but nobody's ranking Shedinja as one of the best ever
Wobbuffet
immunities are amazing in nuzlocke
azumarill probably has like 380 or something effective bst
i play randomizers most of the times
and Shed has so many weaknesses that it just randomly dies all the times
well i dont play randomisers generally
360

Bro, that Venusaur
to keep it in theme with the Charizard bias Zard should have both past and future forms, while Venu only has past and Blastoise future
future paradox blastoise colorized
when are we getting paradoxes of the starters of gen 9 tho
we did get exclusive g max and z moves for 7 and 8 tho
those are probably easier to code than making a new form entirely
Also, that would be more like a new Pokémon and less of a gimmick form, that’s Tera’s job
I should play a nuzlocke actually
Too late smh
Got an Impish Magic Guard Gliscor with Bonemerang and Brave Bird. That was…lucky, to say the least.
working on the Scarlet post-game gym rematches
also gonna ask my sister if she can find her old Sword copy
I have sword what do you need
Wait actually I have shield nvm
No I wanna play through Sword lol
Ah okay
What about jumpluff torkoal

Watch a replay of a Pokémon battle between A and shikuleo ([Gen 9] OU)
Gholdengo does it again
Lookin’ cool Ren
Globro with quick claw has like 40% chance to outspeed the opponent right?
44% according to Bulb
I think it's the final Ash season
Elaborate, please
Why didn't other battles in that tournament look that good
Ash vs Leon and Pikachu vs Charizard
Are separate fights
Since I was just about to share this here too
You know it's getting real when the theme song kicks in 😤
Will Ash or Leon claim the title of World Champion? Find out with in Part 3 of Pokémon Ultimate Journeys: The Series, now available on Netflix! 🏆
Watch now: https://pkmn.news/WatchS25Now
Oh okay, I thought there was something wrong with Pikachu vs Charizard there for a sec
Budget problem most likely btw
Either budget or time
Honestly leaning towards time
We all know how strict the anime is in scheduling
interesting how much shit they jammed into Castelia City
and this is not even the case like Lumiose where you can only explore 1/3 of the city initially
Honestly, Liko and Roy are pretty decent protagonists so far, so well that I’m not as sad not seeing Ash now

oh he played a chi yu, amoongus, gyarados balance team
feel like Swords hands is getting more popular nowadays over AV hands
He threw out a lot of ideas I might try
safety goggles chi yu is a pretty good idea
I've seen lefties chi yu yeah
New Paldea region Poké Plush have arrived at Pokémon Center! ✨
Who are you bringing home with you, Trainers? 🤎💛🤍
Find Paldean Wooper, Fidough, and Cetitan at https://t.co/s4lulSq0iF
da woop, and bread dog
Imagine topping with only 5 days of prep
Dude literally got top 4 with a team he made the other day
You should make sheets for matchups ev spreads and such
And common teams as well as leads
Yeah, I'm going to start that asap, since getting all that data will take a while anyways
Probably post world's tbh
Because we have no idea what's good rn
It's entirely uncharted territory
I could help you make notes for potential good mons tho
Like say monke
Or the genies
Yeah, I'm going to def start saving a bunch of data points/references. I need to see the first series D tournament to see what's changed
We could also look at past year datas ig
A lot of this is kinda surprising for me
Ting Lu basically died overnight it looks like
which makes sense
but also
it could be new toy syndrome
and people are just experimenting
Honse
What does regidrago even do
This is the most interesting team I see
I picked Spectrier in the Crown Tundra and I really like the spooky horse
But part of me wished I picked Glastrier instead
Seems like hybrid TR team
It just feels like a adaptation of early TR + murkrow teams
Because those used farigiraf too
We got server regulars out here topping the ladder too smh
Noct based
@foggy oxide explain yourself
Didn't know noct plays Pokémon too
This honestly doesn't look like a team noct would play
Except earthworm ig
He'd play something like season 2 teams with a twist
The Alaskan Bull Worm
I played showdown for a while
ah this is what I wanted to see https://twitter.com/VGCdata/status/1673379003300823062?s=20
This isn't me though
It’s Big, Scary, and Pink
Heatran Urshifu Rilaboom might as well be new fire water grass core
I was searching for a decent fire water grass core but forgot heatran existed
This makes a lot of sense
Also gholdengo probably shines in a format with no runes(like ting lu or chi yu) as they mentioned
We'll see. Good thing about Series D is that it's basically a fresh start, so we'll see a decent amount of changes
outside of urshifu
that's probably just a staple
Urshifu is just really good
with that in mind though, I would probably start with what's really good vs Urshifu and common Urshifu pairings
Biggest problem of urshifu I can see it it immediately gets threatened by mane
252 SpA Choice Specs Tera Fairy Flutter Mane Dazzling Gleam vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Tera Water Urshifu-Rapid-Strike: 158-188 (90.2 - 107.4%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO
Oh it's not a guarantee
why did Ting Lu die
and then crit water bear shows up
Yeah
Skadoosh
Thought about it a bit and sash urshifu is probably okay depending on the partner
doing five star raids now
cashing in a lot of XP candies to get up to the proper level for those raids
I have no Nintendo Online, so I'm stuck with the AI helpers
they are not exactly doing a good enough job
Shiny Wooloo looks really neat
Well, now I have a Level 90 Tinkaton with Swords Dance
hmm
I am considering purchasing Nintendo Online
do it
Btw @sharp kernel should I calc for scarf eleki or regular eleki
Regular eleki
If eleki gets popular there might be a consensus to run scarf eleki to outspeed other elekis but probably offensive life orb eleki or support light clay eleki will be more popular
Man, having Decidueye but not Incineroar (and Primarima I guess) in Scarlet/Violet is messing with me
The blazing wrestling tiger was just too great
Whoa you go big guy
The characterization Incineroar has is just the best
It’s a heel and it loves every minute of it
It helps that Incineroar is pretty popular in many aspects of Pokemon, from battling to the anime
It’s still super cool in Super Smash Bros., but most don’t enjoy how it plays
Pose for the fans
BY GOD IT’S INCINEROAR FROM BEHIND WITH A METAL CHAIR
WHAT ARE YOU DOING REFS
BUT, yeah it’s got most any kind of move for a situation
Give it a foul
Darkest Lariat, Fake Out, a good bit of coverage, it’s amazing what the wrestling tiger can do
Throat chop to stop opposing Incin Parting Shots lmao
@sharp kernel after theorising a bit i found a really great hyperoffensive lead
prankster tailwind tornadus and choice scarf urshifu
also deciding between offensive life orb zapdos vs offensive life orb thundurus t for something else
farming a Moon Stone for Clefairy wasn't supposed to take half an hour but apparently it does
hey on the bright side you probably have gazillion gems
it was 50% chance for gems 40% for forgor what and 10% for 1 of 12 evo stones right?
I don’t really know the specifics myself
There is a chance to be a wild encounter as well
yeah 40% wild encounter probs
Hopefully Clef doesn’t die immediately to Clay after that much time investment
that would be anticlimactic
am i high rn or the non ho-oh mon not real
I’m certain it isn’t
Its a digimon
Yeah it's Hououmon
Almost got swept by a fucking Contrary Draco Meteor DNite
still lost 2 mons in the process
and now i have an Imposter Clef
would have been useful 4 fights ago considering i have Scarf
Clef is sus
Clef
gonna take a break from OU for a bit, it's just not the same without clef
join reg d ren
Natdex OU
AG
Force feeding my Clef a bunch of Power Lunches provides an...interesting imagery
chomky

I kinda wished instead of both Alan and Diantha, one of them was replaced with someone from Alola
so that the final tournament would have big names from all of the regions
Btw did the new Pokémon anime start yet?
yes
Just beat the Academy Ace Tournament for the first time
I kinda wished the paradoxes followed the design logic of “they gain something by losing something”
I think it would have helped made them more distinct especially for the future guys
And I don’t mean types I mean more so in abilities
How do ppl figure out ev spreads
Do they just run 30 calcs and see how much bulk to invest?
I assume you just go by "okay this pokemon is pretty common, and I want it to survive x ammount of hits from this mon at full health, so let me calculate how much I need to invest for that"
If you arne't just doing 252/252/4 spreads
Yeah
Or basically if a mon has say 177 speed you invest enough to get 178 if you wanna surely outspeed it
@fading stratus should I do the breeding I have to do in swso or sv?
Specs Tinted Lens Eruption Arcanine is a great sweeper
Seeing Hugh's reckless and self-destructive behavior throughout the game really makes me wish there was an option to just abandon his ass and let his Pokemon be stolen.
Even Barry had to learn to stop being a reckless moron after losing to Jupiter.
Combusken is so frail wtf
Just Imposter transformed into it and the wild Combusken died to a Vacuum Wave
You guys wanna hear a tragedy?
Shoot
There are ways to use linear algebra in excel to create a spread that would beat certain values you’re prone to facing (example: goal to beat 100 speed and X sp def and X HP, etc) but I can’t for the life of me remember the name of that method even though I work on it lmao
Uhh I honestly don't have enough breeding experience in SwSh to definitely say about it
Don't slander my boy smh
Alright, so I once was in the Viridian Forest.
I was wandering through the tall grass, until I found an unexpected Mon- a Pikachu! My first one of the game!
I tried to catch it, but it broke free.
When I tried damaging it, I one-shotted it.
truly a tragedy of mankind
I wonder if this could win an Oscar?

An Ambipom i caught a while ago has Toxic Boost and can relearn Facade + Sacred Fire
silk scarf would go crazy if you pre poisoned it or just orb
the carry
just uh dont let it eat hits
nah my carry is Magic Guard Gliscor or Tinted Lens Eruption Arcanine
it's a cool 5th mon to use so i do like Ambipom tho
that is a team of all time
i really like gliscor because poison heal gliscor has carried me in a lot of playthroughs
What do you guys think of having HM slaves?
It’s a necessity in some games
Thankfully the gen i play the most (5) has close to zero need for HMs for traversal so i never have a HM Slave
Well, aside from Surf if i want to get all the items in a certain area i suppose, but Surf is a great move by itself so no hassle for me
Never had em, first game UltraSun and haven’t play anything prior
Hm's were/are an aspect of game design that made Pokemon games more challenging.
Either because Nintendo/whoever is developing the games aimed to make the game easier(universal XP being another way this was done), or because technological or graphic capabilities make it harder/impossible, they were removed.
I liked them because they made the game more challenging, but for some who just didn't want to carry an hm slave, or build a team around making sure you had the relevant hm's distributed throughout the party, they probably found it tedious
its more annoying that tedious tbh
there have been a total of 1 non-uber fire type with 270+ combined defenses with reliable recovery
Including the ubers there have been 3 whole fire types with reliable recovery and more the 270+ combined defenses
The big problem with HMs were that not only did the moves suck, they were often redundant
Correction
Surf was great
All the rest sucked and were often redundant
So is waterfall for that matter
Fly sucks
Surf and Strength an exception to suckage, but you had freaking waterfall later which was worse until gen 4
it didnt back in the day
Strength was often redundant too
also had 100 accuracy
Fly absolutely sucks
Why strength when body slam
Fly was fun
Strength was there just for pokes to have something of a normal move if no body slam
But like I said, often redundant
And then return happened
Return royally screwed it out of use
Especially in plat when you get return at the beginning of the game
Fly was often just worse than even something like Wing Attack
I think gamefreak regrets return and fraustration and hidden power
Fly allowed dodging at least
When did you need that?
Which probably made it appear better than it was
Its not like you were exactly dodging much, youd still be taking damage on the turn after as if you used a regular move
I think the only time where smart protecting / avoiding was useful was Norman
Which you could not have Fly by then
(It’s also part of the reason Mudkip line is OP in gen 3 games, as Marshtomp got Protect)
mudkip also like solos first 3 gyms
There have been a total of 3 non-ubers steel type with 270+ defenses and reliable recovery
Corviknight, gholdengo, skarmory
i kinda liked fly was it was a "accessible" flying move which wasnt just one use like aerial ace
I guess I never played hyper-optimally when I was a child
Child me understood that dragon dance was really good
The problem was that if your Pokémon ever got Wing Attack even, that beat Fly
You’d need a fly user with like
Peck only
And that status raising effects werent worth it unless they did more for you then simply hitting the opponent twice
Why press buff button when can press damage button
Child me was good at math (still good at math but child me liked math)
Same, imma Math kid
Child me beat pokemon ruby before being able to read
Child me hated Elite 4 Shiftry
Also helped my older sister beat sapphire

Reminder that gen 5 onward, Tackle was objectively better than Cut
am i high or doesn't tackle have 95 accuracy
Tackle went to 100 accuracy and 50 power in gen 5
Cut is a cutting move
And so is boosted by... the ability that boosts cutting moves
An ability that didn’t exist while cut was an HM
oh it did? feel like it was 50/95
probably forgetting since ive only played older games recently
Yeah and after HMs were removed
You know another move i bet gamefreak regrets making? Pursuit
you know what move I know Gamefreak loves? Toxic. Especially with the dlc pokemon all having pseudo toxic in ability form
realistically speaking the probability percentage will make or break that ability
The better question to ask rn would be, what's the best move gamefreak ever created
fake out
a real VGC-er would have said Trick room Bolt smh
As a milotic stan scald is one of my fav moves
Revival Blessing comes to mind as well designed ( for now )
Astral barrage
ig glacial lance too
The 120
No downside
Spread move
So its not only good in singles
Its good in doubles
Unlike rage fist and last respects who are infinite better in singles than doubles
spoken like somebody that's never been swept by annihilape + maushold lead smh
Yes cause ive killed every single one ive faced lol
its funny that annhilape was only good for scarf final gambit for like a whole month in doubles
ig because it was the most obvious build
then people realized "oh shit this pokemon can do more stuff?!"
same with current iron hands tbh
The mon with garchomp stats minus spatk can do stuff!?
people are realising it can swords dance and not just vest
I'm still upset Wolfey really top 4'd with only 5 days prep
realistically it was like 2
wolfey isnt attending nawcq iirc so it'd be funny if he gets out of the top 8 race
he has 1 more event hes going to no? or was that it for him?
that would be crazy if he gets knocked out of top 8 points lmao
yeah, he's topped every event he's attended
yeah he's at fourth as of now
we'll see how that translates though
got 9th in 1 or 2
is 9th not a top?
nope
ah TDIL
its 14 rounds of swiss into top 8
god man, 14 rounds of swiss into 3 high pressure matches sounds fucking exhausting
yeah
also like you need to get X-2 to have chance of topping
worst thing about it is only day 2 tiebreakers
so if you go 9-0 day 1 and 3-2 day 2 you might not even top
how big are VGC regionals usually?
1000ish i wanna say
that's really fucking insane
I would think whether they have it in baltimore or DC after worlds it would be around that range, since they don't seem to hit this area that often
finding an edge is going to be damn hard
also thugs wanna make a bet on whether tornadus or thundurus will be more popular in top 32 world's
depends who you got, I think recent history tells us thundurus
if its reg d the meta will be "solved" by then but if they make the legendaries non legal post world's it'd be such a fun format
thundurus did win last world's and had 3/8 teams in top 8 but this time around we have a crucial piece missing
eh tbh, even a mane hit would go a long way, but I doubt we'll see any of the paradox or treasures hit
whimsicott
it could be like last game where they make certain mons legal for a season or two
hmm, maybe, but idk Thundurus was putting in so much work last world's, it's hard for me to think it won't do the same again
also zapdos does get tailwind now so its weird
thundurus was also good because gmax
