Unfortunately from what I can gather, this kinda thing seems to really be wearing on his sanity, since you hear about him walking back and forth to hatch eggs, battling nonstop for BP and stuff.
...Which honestly, just likely puts one's own actions into perspective on what they go through just so they can make a team for VGC battles.
Admittedly some outliers (Like, friggin' Petal Blizzard on Roserade), but this just looks like it has very few glaring weaknesses... aside from, y'know, having to do like 100 or so winning battles in the Battle Maison.
So you're likely prepared for this nevertheless
Having an absolute banger of a Battle! theme is just icing on the cake (Even though if memory serves, you don't actually hear it when you challenge him at the Battle Resort)

a pokemon with 5 IVs in physical attack will be physically weaker then one of the same species with 31 IVs in physical attack
EVs (Effort Values) are gained by defeating pokemon, downing vitamins (carbos, calcium, etc) and so on
Natures (the other stat modifier) also lowers 1 stat while increasing another (or neutral but neutral natures are mid)
as you can see here, Chad Bidoof has way more physical attack then HM Friend
