It doesn't exactly learn much status moves to bolster its defensive stats.

That being said, like most mons it can learn Rest, so you can use that as a recovery option, albeit a rather finnicky one

The Assault Vest is an option. Using that however means you'll need to commit to attack moves.

Apparently Scald exists

Amazingly, but it’s been reworked to only ever work if Volcanion uses it

I’m guessing this is why Chilling Waters exists as a move to fill in such a gap. But admittedly I’d miss those edge cases in which some mons that aren’t water type can learn Scald

Like, amazingly Emboar can learn Scald.

…It’s not that great at using it, since it’s Sp. Atk isn’t all that great, but it’s cool
